He felt a jet of Blood Qi emerge from his body and be absorbed by the thumb of the statue. It was an awesome feeling. Immediately, he felt as if he had unlocked a lock, and the code was his blood.

A mysterious aura pervaded the surrounding.

Then, the statue’s hand opened. Ye Shaoyang rushed and carefully took the book from it. It had only ten pages or so, but he had no time to read every word. He used the power of his Divine Eye to memorize all of them as he flipped through each page.

After a moment, the papers began to curl and break into fragments as though fire burned them. Ye Shaoyang increased his speed to the max, but the book had disintegrated to the extent that the words were hardly identifiable. He quickly read through the pages another few times, but the pages turned into powder before he managed to remember them all.

The surroundings twisted and gradually turned dark. Ye Shaoyang felt as though he was spinning into a blackout. A moment later, the surroundings brightened up with electric light.

Ye Shaoyang found he had been sent back to reality. He took a deep breath. He had turned around to check for Xiao Ma when he heard him shout and sit upright abruptly, “Ouch!”

Ye Shaoyang asked worriedly, “Where do you feel pain?”

“Everywhere.” Xiao Ma blinked in a sorrowful manner, “When you were reading, I had eye contact with the statue and couldn’t take away my gaze. Suddenly, its eyes emitted a beam of white light, and I felt as though an electric current flowed through my body. The next moment I was awake.”

What was the white light that hit Xiao Ma?

Ye Shaoyang was confused too. It was a strange experience when he recalled the moment he went into the world of imagination.

Xiao Ma thought for a moment and said, “Maybe you have read the book, so you unlocked whatever held it together, and the world disappeared.”

Ye Shaoyang gave Xiao Ma a surprised look, “Did you become more intelligent after being hit by the white light? Why did your IQ increase tremendously?

Xiao Ma’s eyes rolled up, “Go to hell! I'm always a genius.”

Ye Shaoyang tried to link the river spirit’s words and his findings and came to a conclusion. The Heavenly Master intentionally dropped his tablet before he left to Wuji Underworld. He was afraid he would not return, so he created a world of imagination in the tablet. The sorcerer who found the tablet and read the book would make the world collapse so there was nothing left behind.

The series of conclusions they made seem to be logical. However, Ye Shaoyang could not get over with the strange feeling when his Blood Qi entered the statue. He suspected his blood had unlocked something that resulted in gaining access to the book.

Was it because of my Heavenly Master's blood? Or because I am the successor in Ye clan?

Xiao Ma’s question stirred up Ye Shaoyang. He answered feelingly, “The Yunji Heavenly Manual.”

According to folktales, The Three Pure Ones passed the three volumes of the manual to the Mighty Sorcerer Zhang. After he learned, he started to take in disciples and teach them. Eventually, he became the one of the founders of Daoism.”

Xiao Ma interrupted, “Is this the manual that Old Guo claimed to have the power of flying, going underground, and summoning thunder and rain?”

Ye Shaoyang smiled and replied, “That is nonsense. The manual was separated into three volumes: the Daoist crafts, the Talisman Paper Incantations, and the Daoist formations. Later, the Daoists separated them into two types: one for the inner disciples and another for the outer disciples. Some Daoist crafts are too powerful, so they can only be taught to the inner disciples. Those are called the Inner Maoshan crafts. As far as I know, since the creation of the manual, it was not completely passed down. Until a great grand master of the Maoshan Sect, Heavenly Master Ye Fashan--”
