Xiao Ma let out a breath of relief, but as he looked around, he did not see Ye Shaoyang. He panicked for a second, and then the boat shook a little. Xiao Ma looked down and saw a hand holding onto the side of the boat. It was Ye Shaoyang! He climbed into the boat and was totally wet.

Shocked, Xiao Ma asked, “Little Ye, why are you wet?”

Ye Shaoyang rolled his eyes and said, “I fell in; of course, I’ll be wet.”

Xiao Ma scratched his head and asked, “Weren’t you standing on the water like in the movies? How did you fall in?”

“That was just me using the energy of the peach wood sword. When that energy ran out, I fell. Of course, I’ll fell in. Do you think I’m Jesus and able to walk on water?”

“Okay...You did look like a divine being though.”

Ye Shaoyang looked around and said, “Alright that’s enough, it’s not the end. Even though the seal is protecting the boat from the water, the girl might try to flip our boat.”

Xiao Ma smacked his head and said, “Oh, I get it now. When the girl wanted to ask for compliments and then told us about using more water to wash the vegetable, she meant that she would try to capsize us?”

If he wasted too much energy repelling the water, then he would be too weak to fight the girl.

When he got to the bottom, he pulled out an ancient Chinese coin. He cut his finger and put some of his blood on the coin.

“Golden coin of power, with the power of my blood lead me now to the source of evil.”

Ye Shaoyang flung the coin into the water. When the coin encountered the water, the water parted. Ye Shaoyang chased the coin for a while; then, the coin suddenly dropped.

Ye Shaoyang quickly stopped by it and dug up the mud of where the coin dropped. He found a fist-sized, green-colored snail shell.

“So this is your ‘house’,” Ye Shaoyang smiled and held the shell tightly in his hand. Then, he opened his Divine Eye and projected his consciousness into it.

Above the water’s surface, everything was peaceful. Xiao Ma joyfully drove the boat back toward the riverbank. He even hummed a song. Suddenly, a strange noise came from below the boat. ‘Ki-KKi-Ka!’ It was as though the motor had been caught in something. The boat shook for a bit, and then, the diesel motor stopped working.

No way am I this unlucky!

Xiao Ma tried to restart the motor, but it did not work. As he panicked and didn’t know what to do, a gust of wind suddenly blew the boat back towards the water and away from the riverbank.

Xiao Ma was shocked by what was happening. He knew that something evil was doing this, but he couldn’t do anything. He looked back and saw that the boat was headed towards a bunch of common reeds.

Black Qi hovered over the area, and when the boat entered the collection of reeds, the bright sky turned cloudy. Gusts of cold wind blew and pushed the boat deeper and deeper into the reeds.

Xiao Ma was very scared at this point. He looked around and saw nothing but reeds, and the dark sky did not help his fear. Then, out of nowhere, a small wooden pail appeared. It came close until it was about a meter away from the boat.

The wooden pail contained a red blanket that seemed to be covering something. Whatever it was, it seemed to be moving underneath the blanket. Xiao Ma was certain something was underneath it, and that it was probably a baby.

“Well, I want to find out what you are!” Xiao Ma worked up his courage, plucked a reed, used it to reach over to the pail and picked up the blanket with it.

There was nothing in the pail except for the blanket.

Xiao Ma was relieved. He flipped the pail over with the reed and saw something underneath the pail. It was something black. He thought it was seaweed at first, but upon closer inspection, it was hair.

It was hair! Hair that was floating along in the water.

Xiao Ma’s heart was now racing. His hands were wrapped tight and clammy around the wooden sword. His mind struggled to remember the spirit-killing incantation that Old Guo taught him.

Focus the mind, release the Qi...F*ck! How does it go again?

Suddenly, the hair in the water went under and disappeared!

Xiao Ma was freaked out. He looked left and right trying to spot the bunch of hair. Then, a sound came from behind Xiao Ma. The boat shook slightly. Xiao Ma’s heart dropped. He knew something was on the boat!
