Xie Yuqing looked, “This is the Qing Shan Town. It’s not far from here and is the busiest town around these parts. Do you want to go there first?”

“Doesn’t matter to me,” Ye Shaoyang said, “Since it is a busy town, there are surely motels there. Let’s go there and stay for the night. We can skip all the traveling and head straight to business tomorrow.”

Xie Yuqing nodded. She switched on her navigation app and drove straight to Qing Shan Town.

Qing Shan Town was not really big, but it was well-developed. It included all the necessities like a city. The trio found a restaurant. They ordered some dishes, complemented with two bottles of liquor. Then, they relaxed for the night.

It was late at night when they finally left the restaurant. All of them had a few too many drinks. Even Xie Yuqing drank, so she could not drive. The trio walked along the street looking for a motel to rest for the night.

They walked from end to end and found three motels to choose from. They picked the biggest motel, a three-storey family eccentric motel.

The owner was a man in his forties. He was not surprised when he saw a young lady and two men walk into his motel drunk, as they held onto each other’s shoulders, “Good evening, friends. Do you need one or two rooms?”

“Three.” Xiao Ma glared at him, “I understand if you give us two rooms, but how can we possibly fit into one room? What are you thinking, old fart?” Xiao Ma was obviously intoxicated; he was acting like himself.

“I’m just kidding. Please, help me with the registration.” The owner behaved nicely, but he laughed to himself in his heart. How dare you call me an old fart. Great. I will let you stay in THAT room tonight. You guys are obviously outsiders anyway. I bet you will stay for one night and never be back.

Once they entered their own rooms, Ye Shaoyang took a quick shower. The effects of the alcohol had subsided, but he was feeling more exhausted. He fell flat onto the bed and slept. He had not fallen asleep for long before he suddenly heard door knocking noises. He sat up and listened if it was coming from his door.

Ye Shaoyang quickly assumed that it was room service. He tried to ignore the door knocking, but the person on the other side of the door knocked even harder instead. Ye Shaoyang yelled in annoyance, “Stop knocking, I don’t need room service!”

Indeed, the knocking stopped immediately. Just when Ye Shaoyang fell back to the bed, he heard an angry voice coming from the other side of the door, “Little trickster! How dare you!”

It was Xie Yuqing!

Ye Shaoyang immediately jumped up from his bed, What is she doing here in the middle of the night?

He quickly wore his pants and grabbed the door handle. Once he opened up the door, he was treated to a sight that blew his mind—Xie Yuqing stood in front of his door, covered with only a towel.

Xie Yuqing opened her mouth, but she suddenly remembered that did not really look decent right now. She pushed Ye Shaoyang aside and walked into his room. She went straight onto the bed and covered herself with the blanket.

Her actions confused Ye Shaoyang. He stood in front of the bed, “Please don’t try to do anything. I’m warning you. I’m a gentleman, but that doesn’t mean I can resist all kinds of temptation….”

“What are you thinking!” Xie Yuqing glared at him angrily, “Take your clothes and sleep in my room. We are exchanging rooms!”

Ye Shaoyang had no clue what was she doing, “What the f*ck? What happened?”

“My room...is haunted.” Xie Yuqing frowned. Fear could be seen in her eyes, “I was about to take a shower just now. Every time I turn the tap on, I can hear someone weeping outside my bathroom. And once I turn it off, I cannot hear it anymore. I suspect there’s something haunting that room….”

“That’s way too many encounters in a day, I don’t think there are so many spirits in our world,” Ye Shaoyang interrupted. He was not taking her words seriously, “I think you mingle with me too much, that’s why you are becoming a little too paranoid.”

Ye Shaoyang was left with no choice. He reluctantly sat at the bedside and started to put on his clothes. He caught Xie Yuqing off guard when he suddenly burrowed his head into the blanket.

Xie Yuqing kicked at him, as she yelled, “What are you doing!”

Ye Shaoyang grabbed her feet instantly and replied with a straight face, “I’m looking for my socks!”

Soon, Ye Shaoyang finished dressing up. He reluctantly took her room key and walked to the room. He opened the door and examined the room carefully. There was no spirit in sight, and he could not pick up any trail of spirit Qi. He shook his head, as he thought to himself, This woman is being paranoid.

He locked the door, undressed, and slept on the bed.

Ye Shaoyang was extremely exhausted, so he instantly fell asleep. However, it was not long before he suddenly heard someone weeping. He thought he was dreaming initially, but he quickly realized that something was wrong. He immediately woke up and listened closely. Indeed, there were weeping noises coming out from the bathroom.
