The old village head lived at the end of the village, under the foot of a hill. His residence was a three-story building that had a big compound in front. The house had a grand appearance. It had two imperial guardian lions that stood guard on each side of the main gate. The guide knocked on the door. He spoke to a young man, who opened the door for them after the guide told him that Ye Shaoyang and Zhou Jingru wished to pay the old village head a visit.

The young man looked at the two of them with suspicion, “Who are you two?”

“I’m the person in charge of the Evergreen Villa, and he is a policeman. We are here to ask the old village head to verify some details,” Zhou Jingru simply said. As expected, the young man showed a degree of hostility when he heard the words ‘Evergreen Villa’. But once he heard that Ye Shaoyang was a policeman, he helplessly frowned and said, “Follow me.”
