Spirit Energy Construct
Given the energy consumption of the new shield, Xiao Bai didn't plan to retire the old one. Instead, he intended to use them in a complementary manner, depending on the situation.
For low-intensity combat, he'd use the original shield. If he encountered a situation like before, where the attacks were so dense they could overload the shield, he'd switch to the new one.
"I wonder if this new shield would let me face off against the Great Demon Lord of Discharge head-on?"
"Never mind, let's not take the risk. Even if I could hold my own, who knows how many other Great Demon Lords lurk behind him?"
"Besides, after facing the World-Destroying Great Devil King, regular Great Demon Lords don't seem so scary anymore..."
As Xiao Bai spoke, he glanced at his inventory. He had enough components left to craft two more pieces of equipment.
One was a close-quarters weapon called the Bio-High-Frequency Blade Embryo . It resembled a biological version of an enhanced chainsaw sword, with superior molecular cutting capabilities and the self-repair function inherent in Bio-Construct gear.
With the addition of Gene Modification and Modulation Technology, it could be customized in various ways, such as altering its appearance or adding additional functionalities.
What was strange was that this weapon wasn't created by Civilization 1, nor was it found on any of the mecha. Instead, Xiao Bai discovered the Embryonic Fragment in a research institute within the Wasteland District.
He speculated that it might be a new technology Civilization 1 was researching, or perhaps they were studying the technologies of other civilizations, just like humans who were likely 'archaeologizing' in Paradise.
More direct evidence came from the second piece of equipment:
Incredible Mysterious Mailbox : A Lost Civilization Legacy, a Spirit Energy Construct beyond scientific explanation, capable of transcending spatial limitations to form spatial links with any facility that meets the 'mailbox' definition.
The small text below looked as bewildered as Xiao Bai:
How on earth was this thing created? Does a truly idealist civilization really exist?
In truth, Xi ao Bai wasn't unfamiliar with terms like 'Spirit Energy' and 'Spiritualist'. Even his smartphone's input method could auto-complete these words after typing just a few initial letters—vestiges of his days online as a keyboard warrior, debating with others.
Ever since the official announcement that a Spirit Energy Civilization might have existed within Paradise , the internet had been flooded with self- proclaimed "Celestial Masters," "True Monarchs," "Wizards," and "Druids." These charlatans peddled fraudulent practices like "Fate-Redirecting Rituals" and "Destiny Divination," swindling people out of their money and dignity in countless tragic incidents.
Xiao Bai had grown furious and taken to the int ernet to denounce them, only to find that their followers were legion. His posts inevitably led to reports and account suspensions. Consequently, he couldn't exactly be said to harbor a deep-seated fear of Spirit Energy; he simply dismissed it as nonsense.
But his perspective had undoubtedly changed now.
"If Spirit Energy truly exists, then it's not some mystical pseudoscience, but an unknown science beyond our current understanding. I should set aside my prejudices. Spirit Energy is one thing, fraud is another—they can't be lumped together."
After reminding himself of this, he combined the two pieces of equipment.
The Bio-Construct High-Frequency Blade Embryo remained in an embryonic state, resembling a meaty walnut. Xiao Bai had no choice but to place it in the Cultivation Pod to soak.
The mysterious mailbox, on the other hand, was a large, emerald-green, classically styled mailbox. Far from being mysterious, it exuded a strong sense of nostalgia for a bygone era.
Then, Xiao Bai felt a tingling in his head again as a stream of 'usage instructions' flooded into his mind.
"Uh... to use it, I need to constantly visualize the real email address I want to connect to in my mind, the more detailed the better... This method is really subjective."
"Although both manipulat e space and can even plant usage instructions in people's minds, it still can't compare to the Anchor. It doesn't even have any data display; clearly much more crude. Looks like this Spirit Energy Civilization isn't as advanced as that older civilization."
"In that case, let me count... there are now four confirmed Lost Civilizations whose existence has been proven: the ancient and most familiar Civilization 1, this subjective one, and the one that played with genes."
"I wonder if any of them still exist?"
After letting his thoughts wander, Xiao Bai snapped back to reality and checked his remaining inventory.
He hesitated for a long time, then finally gritted his teeth and strengthened the Pocket Factory once more.
He watched the parts and components he had painstakingly scraped together over the past two weeks—over a million worth—plunge back down to just over ten thousand. He could almost feel the new Engine convulsing, his hoarding instincts screaming in agony.
"I wouldn't be this generous even to my own father!"
It pained him to part with so much, but there was no choice. He desperately needed the Pocket Factory to produce universal parts and Mirror Alloy, allowing him to assemble larger new Mechs.
He had absorb ed the structure of the previous Large Mecha, but for some reason—perhaps because it was too large—he couldn't manifest it directly like his current Mech. He was still missing a massive number of parts and Mirror Alloy, making it impossible to materialize.
After each upgrade, the Pocket Factory continued to produce ammunition while adding a new metal production line, churning out the seemingly never-ending stream of parts and Mirror Alloy.
So he had no choice but to grit his teeth and proceed...
The upgraded Pocket Factory still displayed its cartoonish, simplified icon, but now it sported an additional smokestack and trembled slightly faster.
"This production efficiency is abysmal! Only 1,000 units of parts per hour? And just 500 units of alloy? We can only choose one at a time! At this rate, how long will it take to rebuild our ten-million-unit reserves?"
"The good news is that if I keep upgrading, the efficiency will improve with almost no cost, just requiring metal scrap."
"Alright, let's look at the long term. A big investment upfront, but it'll pay off more and more over time. Besides, I'm not in a huge rush to upgrade my Mecha right now."
Xiao Bai tried to stay optimistic. Using the remaining "scraps," he assembled five more Remote Control Modules. Combined with the Small anti-gravity engines he had saved earlier, he created five "Youth Edition" Floating Cannons.
These included three small-caliber rocket launchers and two large-caliber rocket launchers.
Bio-Guided Missiles would actually be better suited for a Floating Cannon format, but they were too heavy for a single small engine to carry. He didn't have enough components to build more, so he'd have to continue carrying them manually.
Finally, after installing the new Trisolaran Reactor, this round of enhancements came to an end.
Xiao Bai glanced at the performance parameters of his Full-Armor Form:
Model : Mysterious Mecha
