Song Tian's Farm and His Daily Life 54 Cows and Bulls

At first, Song Tian thought Song Yi's true appearance would be like a tiny fairy or something similar like the stuff he read in the novels and comics, but he didn't expect the system appearance is really identical to human even though his grandfathers said the system is a spirit being.

In front of the cabin, Song Tian installed a small livestock trailer he just bought not long ago from the Global Marketplace to the back of his truck.

Song Tian nodded, "Yeah, I'm going to the ranch. My friend's workers will come to get their equipment in an hour," he said.

After talking for a while, Song Tian went to the ranch with Song Li and Xiao Yu.

Two hours later, on the road Song Yi's voice could be heard, "Master, why not just use my express to get the cows instantly to your farm?" she asked.

Song Tian shook his head, "I need to see it with my own eyes first," he said as he already saw the [Berg's Ranch] sign on the entrance.

The ranch is located at Trisia, the area is covered with forest, and there's also a famous cave called Trisia Cave which rumored to contains a lot of ancient fossil in it.

So far, only one fossil found by a young man and it turns out to be an elephant's spine, according to the news Song Tian watched on TV.

At the parking lot, Song Tian could see a massive pasture with a lot of animals and workers in it.

After asking the worker, the worker told Song Tian to wait while he's calling the owner.

Looking at the cows eat the grass, he heard a deep voice behind him.

"Young man, what can I help you?"

Song Tian turns back, and he can only see the person's body.

Song Tian looked up and saw an old man around fifties with a long white hair and thick beard, he couldn't help but shocked.

"Damn, it's my first time to see someone this big," he thought.

The old man continued, "I'm Robert Berg, just call me Uncle Rob," he said.

Song Tian laughed, "Alright, is there any cows suited for a beginner farmer?" he asked.

Robert Berg answered, "Not really for beginner, you better start with the Holstein cows, follow me," he said.

While looking around the barn, Robert Berg told Song Tian about the different types of cows, including Holstein, Jersey, Brown Swiss, and others.

Song Tian also learned about the differences between heifer and cow. Heifer is a female animal that has never had a calf, once a heifer has a calf, she'll be called a cow.

There are also steer and bull. Steer is a young male cattle that have been neutered and primarily raised for beef while the bull is a male used for breeding purposes.

Song Tian pondered for a moment, he decided to buy a cow, heifer, and bulls to sped up his quest.

Song Tian looked at Robert Berg, "Uncle Rob, I'm going to buy one cow, one heifer and two bulls of Holstein," he said.

Robert Berg asked, "You didn't want any steers? I guarantee the beef its produce will be excellent," he said.

Song Tian smiled bitterly, "Although I want to raise some steers for its beef, I can't bear to do it with the animals I raised," he said.

Song Tian continued, "I know it's a hypocrite for me to say that since I also eat a lot of beef, but I'm not ready for it yet," he said.

Robert Berg sighed, he can relate to Song Tian because he also can't bear to do it back when he just started his ranch.

"Don't worry about that, trust me. You can also buy a young bull which already separated from its parent for the calf," Song Li said.

Song Tian smiled bitterly, "Damn, why do I feel like one of those bad parents who arranged his child marriage without the child's consent," he said.

After looking for a while, Song Li already picked the bulls for Song Tian.

Song Tian looked at Robert Berg, "Uncle Rob, I'm going to pick that cow with her calf, that young bull, and also that bull," he said as he pointed to those he decided to buy.

Looking at the cows and bulls Song Tian picked, Robert Berg surprised, "Wow, you sure have eyes, huh? Those are the best ones I have around my barn," he said.

Song Tian nodded, "I don't want to separate the calf from her mom," he said.

Robert Berg smiled, "Good, where do I send it?" he asked.

Song Tian laughed, "I already had a livestock trailer, so I'll bring those with me," he said.

Song Tian also bought the fodders which Robert Berg's worker will send immediately to his farm.

The fodder was a combination of hay, grain, silage and other stuff which he didn't know.

Robert Berg told him to get the cows and bulls a routine checkup from the vet.

Looking at the truck leaving the barn, Robert Berg grinned, "Oy, your grandson already left. How long are you guys going to hide?" he said.

Two old men appeared out of nowhere, it was Song Lian and Zhu Dong.

Robert Berg looking at both of them, laughed, "You guys really spoil your grandson, huh?" he said.

Not long after, he frowned, "But if you kept things this way, you will affect his growth," he said.

Song Lian sighed, "We're going on a long expedition soon, at least I have to be the best grandpa while I still had the time to see him. We don't even know if we can finish this task in a short time," he said.

Zhu Dong glared at Song Lian, "Don't flipping jinx it, we're going to complete this task as soon as possible. I don't want to come back seeing my grandchild had their own families without me witnessing it," he said.

Arrived at the farm, Song Tian already put the cow, calf, and bulls to the barn with the help of workers who are following behind him to deliver the fodders.

The cow and calf are placed in the bonding area, which is specialized for the cow and calf to bond, and bulls are placed in their own station.

Each station is huge, enough for two cows to live in it. But Song Tian prioritizes on the comfort because he saw a lot of barn station on the internet barely fits one cow.

The flooring of the barn had an irrigation system underneath to collect the manures and the station topped with mixtures of wood shavings, sawdust, and straw for the bedding.

There's also pasture for the animals to graze, which took most of the farm's land.

After putting the fodders to the feeding trough, Song Tian asked, "Now what?" he said.

Song Li licked his paw, he let out meow sounds and the cow starting to come toward him.

Seeing this, Song Tian shocked, "You can communicate with them?" he asked.

Song Li answered, "Of course, the cow said you can take 10 liters of her milk and leave the rest for her child," he said.

Song Li continued, "The calf will drink the milk around 15-20 liters daily, and you can milk twice a day. You get 5 liters of milk each session, in the morning and in the evening," he said.

Song Tian nodded, he left Song Li and Xiao Yu in the barn to get the metal bucket on his cabin.

After bringing back the bucket with him, he asked, "Are you sure it's okay to milk her?" he said.

Song Li nodded his furry head, "Just do it, I already told her to stay still. Be gentle when milking her," he said.

Song Tian gulped, he walked closer to the cow. He started to clean the udder and teats with the cleaner he bought from Robert Berg's Ranch.

After waiting several minutes for it to dry, Song Tian started to put the sterile gloves and put the udder cream to reduce the friction during milking and to avoid scratching the cow's udder.

He started to strip each teat four times gently to let out any dirt, bacteria or other debris from the milk ducts.

After making sure the milk is clean, Song Tian put the metal bucket under the cow and started to milk it.

Several moments later, after making sure the bucket is already filled on 5 liters mark, he stopped immediately.

"How is it? Is the cow feel uncomfortable during the milking?" Song Tian asked.

Song Li answered, "No, the cow was happy you milk her gently. I'll let the cows graze around the pasture in an hour," he said.

Song Tian laughed, "Wow, I can feel the enthusiasm right there," he said.

Xiao Yu who's sat on Song Tian's right shoulder interjected, "Nah, I bet he's up to no good," she said.

Song Li shook his furry head, "These cows will be one of this Lord Tiger's strengths to build my empire, and you will be the empress of it. How can you say it's not good," he said.

Xiao Yu snorted, "Empire? Keep dreaming," she said.

Song Tian shook his head, the cats always bickering with each other, so he didn't bother with it.

He looked at the bucket disappeared slowly, and Song Yi's voice suddenly rang in his mind.

"Master, congratulations for completing the Fourth Quest with Side Quest 12: Wonder of Animals and Meat or Milk," she said.

A scroll appeared in front of Song Tian.
