Chapter 259: Chapter 0259: Helping Righteously Chapter 259: Chapter 0259: Helping Righteously “So, shall I come to your studio?”
“Sure, I'll send you the address.”
After hanging up the phone, Mu Lan immediately sent the address to the other party's WeChat.
Half an hour later, Mu Lan returned to the studio. Shortly after, Liu Ai walked in with sunglasses and short boots. Today, she was dressed very simply, wearing cropped jeans that hugged her straight, slim legs, and an off-the-shoulder top with geometric patchwork that revealed her midriff. She looked both cool and beautiful.
As expected of the top fashion model in the country, her appearance instantly became the focus of the entire studio, everyone was blown away, especially Tang Xin, who was so agape she didn't know what to do.
“Liu… Liu Ai?”
Liu Ai took off her sunglasses and couldn't help but laugh as she saw Tang Xin stammering.
“Hello, is General Manager Mu here?”
Tang Xin nodded like she was pounding garlic.
“Yes, yes, yes, General Manager Mu just returned to the office, this way please.”
The studio's junior fans eagerly watched as Tang Xin led Liu Ai to Mu Lan's office.
“Goodness, seeing her in person! Those legs, doesn't her belly button start to split? So incredibly long!”
“Exactly, she's even thinner in person than on TV, and even more beautiful.”
“Sigh, it seems when the gods were creating humans, everyone else was meticulously sculpted, and I was just splattered with random drops of mud.”
“That's strange, didn't Liu Ai go to attend fashion week? How did she suddenly show up in our studio?”
The outside gossip group chattered nonstop, and as soon as Mu Lan looked up, she saw a bunch of people looking incessantly towards her office. She walked to the blinds and gave a stern look, then pressed the blinds shut, immediately blocking any view into the office from outside.
Tang Xin brought the two some coffee and reluctantly took several glances at Liu Ai before agreeing to leave the office.
“The charm of Supermodel Liu really is extraordinary, my employees don't even want to work when they see you,” Mu Lan remarked.
Liu Ai raised an eyebrow, looking at the somewhat lively Mu Lan.
“Tracy, why do I feel that you've changed?”
Mu Lan smiled.
“It might be because I've experienced the aftermath of memory loss.”
Liu Ai was stunned.
“Huh? Amnesia? Are you joking with me? Wait a minute, so the girl I met before who looked a lot like you… you two are… the same person?”
Mu Lan nodded.
Liu Ai was a bit overwhelmed for a moment.
“No wonder, I was wondering how there could be someone who looked so much like you but with such a different personality. I even thought you were twins. It all makes sense now.
So it was amnesia…”
Mu Lan watched Liu Ai processing everything, unable to hold back her laughter.
“You believed that so quickly?”
Liu Ai looked at her irritably.
“You suddenly disappeared, and no matter how I tried, I couldn't contact you. I was scared to death. Then I met… well, you, when you had lost your memory. You don't even know how different you two were.
At first, I thought you were playing around with me, teasing me, but the more I interacted, the more I felt that you two were not the same person.”
Mu Lan observed Liu Ai and didn't expect her to say that.
“Really? That different?”
Liu Ai nodded.
“Of course, you've always been somewhat melancholy, very elegant, very ladylike… a real lady.
But the you I met before was completely like… an elf girl, full of vitality in her eyes, always smiling, a bit silly at times–in short… too different.”
Mu Lan had somewhat forgotten what she herself used to be like; her eighteen-year-old self was so lively.
“So, do you prefer me after the memory loss, or…”
Liu Ai thought for a moment, then decided to tell the truth.
“Something livelier perhaps, it really does look very cute.”
Mu Lan nodded.
“So you mean I'm not cute right now.”
Liu Ai burst into laughter at her joke.
“You're cute now too, but I think you're cuter when you're lively.
“So, big designer, the studio looks the part now, I hear C Magazine wants to do an interview with you, anything you need help with?”
Mu Lan hadn't expected her to fly all the way back from Paris straight to her just for this… She was immediately moved.
“The interview side is okay, but there is something lately that's been giving me a headache.”
Liu Ai raised her eyebrows.
“Oh? Let's hear it.”
“You know Luo Ning, right?”
“Of course, that very famous actress. I've seen her work. What, she asked you to design a dress? For the Golden Phoenix Award?”
Mu Lan nodded.
“That's great news. Why the long face then? Did she give you a hard time?”
Liu Ai hit the nail on the head, leaving Mu Lan with no room to argue.
She stood up, walked to her desk, and pulled out a stack of design drafts.
“Here are the five designs I've created for her; she rejected each one, saying she wasn't satisfied. Although she said the last one was kind of okay, I still feel like she'll change her mind in the end. But I've done all I could…”
Liu Ai took the designs and looked through them; each one was brilliant, absolutely on par with top designers, clearly showing Mu Lan's dedication.
If she couldn't appreciate these gowns, she really was just nitpicking.
“Did you offend her?”
Offend? Mu Lan didn't feel it was about offending, but it was clear the other party just didn't want to make it easy for her; that much was certain.
“Perhaps.”
Liu Ai's eyes fixed on the last design draft.
“I was in a movie too, just a minor role, but I was invited to walk the red carpet… Hmm, if Luo Ning isn't cooperative, can I wear that dress?”
Mu Lan looked at Liu Ai.
“I wouldn't give you something someone else rejected. I'll design a new one especially for you.”
Liu Ai smiled.
“That's not necessary. I really love this one; it was love at first sight. You said it's unlikely Luo Ning will cooperate, so it works out. Someone's loss is another's gain, and this just proves I have good taste.”
Mu Lan couldn't express how moved she was; Liu Ai clearly intended to support her. Both would attend the awards ceremony, and once Liu Ai appeared on the red carpet in her design, Luo Ning would definitely know who it was by.
Liu Ai's action was no doubt meant to make a stand for her against Luo Ning.
“Liu Ai, you really don't have to do this. Luo Ning still holds some sway in the film industry; there's no need to offend her this way.”
“I don't rely on acting for a living. I've never been short of fashion endorsements; I'm a model, not an actress. There's nothing about offending or not.
If you won't let me wear a beautiful dress because of this, I won't be happy.”
She spoke lightly, but Mu Lan knew full well that Liu Ai was doing this solely for her.
“Alright, alright, don't look so moved that you'd want to marry me. I'm straight, I like men, I'm not into women, so looking at me like that won't change anything,” Liu Ai teased.
Mu Lan laughed at her quip.
“When did you become such a joker, or, should I say, is there some romance brewing?”
Liu Ai averted her eyes, feeling a bit guilty.
“Who… who has a romance brewing.”
