Looking around there was only a single empty chair. Ira walked towards it step by step, ignoring the envious and obsessive eyes, walking straight towards the table.
Just as she sat down a woman in the pink dress came forward sitting beside her and gesturing the seated woman to move. She sat down and exclaimed: "Hi, Ira."
"Hi" she replied in her usual tone. Her voice carried a tinge of irony. She didn't remember the woman, but her face clearly displayed hatred towards her.
The woman's face frowned when she noticed that Ira didn't remember her name and hearing her dry reply but suppressing her feelings of resentment she smiled and asked: "How have you been?"
"I am good. What about you?" Ira tried her best to sound gentle and replied as a courtesy yet she couldn't hide her cold and unwelcoming tone.
"I am still the same single soul. " Pausing briefly she asked "Are you married?" the woman smirked.
This especially came across as being hypocritical. Even after undoubtedly discovering that Ira was pregnant the woman asked the question as if mocking Ira.
However, everyone was looking at her with a sneer.
A plain stupid person like her didn't even realize that she was mocking herself.
Ira could only shake her head at her foolishness and with a warm smile replied: "Yes, I am happily married."
She finally recalled the person. The woman was her admirer once, always pestering her but later turned into a loathsome person when Ira rejected her friendship
Having not gotten the expected reaction, the woman probed further asked: "You got pretty. What did you do with your nose I remember it was not this sharp?"
This was a trick question, replying with a no will mean that she was defensive, making the masses think that maybe she got one.
But as straightforward Ira was, she replied: "No plastic surgery."
"Don't need to be shy. now everyone does that." This woman was getting under her nerves now.
"I have always been confident about my looks. I don't need plastic surgery. But I see your nose, lips and even breast needs work on...." She replied in a nonchalant but loud tone. She tried her best not to act arrogant, but she was irked.
Another woman who was sitting on Ira's other side, picked up a piece of meat dipped in melted cheese with her chopsticks and reaching Ira's plate said: "Try this."
Her intention was harmless rather good as she only wanted to ease the atmosphere but smelling the cheese and meat Ira felt a surge in her stomach, as to vomit.
She ran to the washroom.
"let's have a toast." she heard the words as she went in the direction of the washroom. Vivan was entirely against her coming to the party because, one there will be a lot of alcoholic drinks in the party, and second being pregnant she couldn't drink, bothering others.
The stubborn Ira still came after insisting him. Now, Reeya was nowhere, and she had to return empty stomach.
Fixing her makeup, as she walked to their square, In a dark corridor she bumped into someone. As she slipped, someone caught her. Caressing her stomach, she looked terrified. The moment she missed her step she was scared for the baby.
"Are you okay?" A voice came from the man holding her. His voice made her look up to his face.
