Chapter 696: Chapter 696: Young Master, I'll Help You Pursue Her Chapter 696: Chapter 696: Young Master, I'll Help You Pursue Her Eva Bell's face turned extremely unpleasant. She came to drive Abigail Green away, but instead, she was the one being driven. As expected, her mood was terrible.
Previously, Eva had lost twice in front of Abigail, and now she couldn't even maintain her grace. She glared fiercely at Abigail. “What kind of spell did you cast on the men of the Piers family?”
Abigail looked leisurely at Eva's changing expression, completely ignoring her. Instead, she smiled at Grandfather Piers. “Thank you, Grandfather Piers.”
After speaking, Abigail looked back at Aunt Claudia, who was holding Teddy. “Aunt Claudia, let's go.”
“Abigail Green, I'm talking to you! What did you do to them?” Abigail's disregard made Eva feel like she was punching cotton, with a stone stuck in her heart, unable to move up or down. It was extremely uncomfortable.
But as soon as she finished speaking, Thomas Piers spoke up again. “Ms. Bell, please behave. If you don't leave now, I will have to call security.”
“You…you old fool!” Eva certainly didn't want to be escorted out by the security of Moon Lake Manor. She cursed at Housekeeper Piers in anger, then planned to get in the car.
At that moment, a car parked behind her suddenly opened its door. A tall, handsome, and exceptionally charismatic man stepped out.
Eva stopped in her tracks, looking over in confusion. She saw the man with a cold and noble aura walking towards Abigail. He greeted Grandfather Piers, then naturally took the luggage from Abigail's hands. The nanny holding the child followed closely behind, clearly intending to leave together.
“Who is he? Are you taking George Piers away?” Seeing the man thoughtfully helping Abigail with her luggage and opening the car door for her, Eva panicked. Ignoring Housekeeper Piers' attempts to drive her away, she rushed forward to ask.
Abigail treated her as if she were invisible.
But Eva wouldn't let it go and turned to the reluctant old man. “Dad…Elder Piers, is she taking away Brandon's child?”
Eva was eager and flinched after calling him “Dad.” Although she hated Abigail Green, George Piers was a Piers family child, her son's eldest son. How could she let this woman take him away!
“Teddy is Abigail's child. Now that she and Brandon are no longer involved, the child should be with her.” The old man glanced at Eva, not wanting to answer, but knowing her temperament. If he didn't respond, she would continue pressing Abigail.
He didn't want Eva to provoke Abigail again.
But Eva was furious at the answer. “What do you mean, Teddy is her child? He belongs to the Piers family, Brandon's son. Who does Abigail Green think she is to take him away? And what is her connection with this man? She broke up with Brandon and already found another man? Such a fickle woman can't possibly raise a child properly!”
Abigail paused her actions of getting in the car, preparing to speak. However, Benjamin Jones put a calming hand on her shoulder and turned to Eva. “Ms. Bell, according to Article 246 of the criminal law, deliberately fabricating and spreading false facts that damage someone's reputation can lead to imprisonment of up to three years, criminal detention, control, or deprivation of political rights. Please apologize to Ms. Abigail Green, or I won't hesitate to use legal measures.”
“You're threatening me?” Eva was stunned that Abigail had found a new protector so quickly.
“I am merely stating a fact. And I believe the witnesses around us will testify for Abigail.” Benjamin looked at Grandfather Piers and the Piers family's servants.
Everyone present immediately nodded in agreement.
“You…”
“Apologize.” Eva trembled with anger at everyone's reaction. Benjamin's tone was no longer as professional but cold and commanding.
Eva suddenly felt the air chill and a sense of unease. Yet, the thought of apologizing to Abigail in front of so many people was something she couldn't do. With the atmosphere tense, she abruptly yanked open the car door, ordered the driver to start the car, and fled the manor.
Everyone: “…”
Abigail faintly smiled in surprise. Shaking her head, she noticed that Benjamin still looked displeased. Smiling, she said, “It's okay, let's not make more trouble than necessary. Let's go.”
Benjamin finally shed his icy demeanor. “She shouldn't treat you like this.”
“What's 'should' or 'shouldn't'?” Abigail didn't really mind. She knew Eva hated her from the start, and fate and relationships were predestined. She and Eva were not fated to get along, much like she and Brandon…
When she was Dr. Smith, she thought she would only love her mentor for life. But after a sudden death and rebirth, she fell for Brandon Piers.
They went through so much, thinking they would stay together forever. But unexpectedly, separation came abruptly. Maybe life really wasn't about what should or shouldn't happen.
She couldn't control how others treated her; she could only manage herself.
Abigail was smiling, but Benjamin only sensed bitterness behind it.
“Let's go.” Benjamin didn't want to see Abigail's comforting smile anymore. He made way for her to get into the business car and carefully helped Aunt Claudia, who was holding the child.
Once everyone was seated, he immediately instructed the driver to start the car.
Grandfather Piers watched the tall, handsome, and equally charismatic Benjamin, who was very thoughtful and delicate toward Abigail, feeling deeply troubled.
He naturally knew Benjamin Jones, the most famous new lawyer in Swallow City, and one of last year's top ten outstanding youths. Top in terms of appearance, family background, and personal ability.
More importantly, he was Abigail's childhood friend. From what Brandon mentioned, the two had reconnected. Now that Abigail and Brandon were separated, wouldn't this give Benjamin an opportunity…
The old man was worried but helpless. On the way back to the main house, he sighed every step he took.
With Abigail and Teddy gone, the manor felt excessively quiet, as if back to the days when only he and Brandon relied on each other.
Seeing this, the old man's eyes reddened. He shook off Thomas's supporting hand and wobbled back to his room, shutting the door with a bang.
Housekeeper Piers looked at the closed door and sighed. Turning around, he saw Brandon coming out of nowhere. First, he was taken aback, then rushed forward. “Second Young Master, you're finally back. Did you know that your wife left with Teddy just now? Let me take you to chase them.”
With that, Housekeeper Piers hurried outside. But halfway, he turned back to see Brandon hadn't moved, feeling anxious. “Second Young Master, hurry up!”
Brandon smiled at Housekeeper Piers, then staggered upstairs. Housekeeper Piers only then noticed the strong smell of alcohol in the air. He looked at Pullan, who had just come in. “Did the Second Young Master drink?”
Pullan had been following the Second Young Master. Watching as the Second Young Master saw the lady leave with Lawyer Jones, he didn't know what to say. “Uncle Piers, you should rest.”
Housekeeper Piers hesitated, remembering why the lady left, and his once brisk pace seemed to lose all strength. His body hunched, and he looked helplessly at the lonely silhouette of the Second Young Master. “Ah, what a tragedy.”
