Abigail quickly reached out to take him, but Brandon stopped her with a look. “You can look, but you can't hold.”

“Why?” Abigail immediately felt wronged.

“You know your own condition. He doesn't understand and might hurt you if he acts up. I'll hold him while you play with him.” Saying this, Brandon sat next to Abigail's bed with Teddy in his arms.

Abigail said nothing.

She felt that this man simply didn't want her to hold the child.

“Is Abigail seriously hurt?” Aunt Claudia, worried, stepped forward.

Abigail gave Brandon a disdainful look. How did that sound like an insult?

“I insist on holding him.” Abigail had missed Teddy so much these past days. Now that her son was within reach, this man wouldn't let her hold him, making her unhappy and a touch willful.

Brandon thought he might have a masochistic streak. Why else would he find her fierceness endearing? He couldn't help but smile. He reached out and poked Abigail's cheek. “Okay, but only for three minutes. If you feel any discomfort, give him back to me. And…”

Abigail's expression softened upon his agreement, but she became wary when he added, “And what?”

Brandon didn't answer her. Instead, he stood up and handed Teddy over.

Seeing Teddy's chubby, white face, Abigail felt elated and quickly reached out to take him, forgetting about Brandon's “and.” But just before Teddy reached her arms, Brandon's handsome face came closer, and she heard, “And you have to give me a kiss first.”

With that, Brandon kissed Abigail on her lips. Teddy, once again nestled in Brandon's arm, squawked in protest. Unlike the fervent kiss at their wedding, today Brandon was tender, kissing her softly and making Abigail lose herself.
