Chapter 1309: Chapter 1281: Taking the Child on an Adventure to the Ends of the Earth Chapter 1309: Chapter 1281: Taking the Child on an Adventure to the Ends of the Earth “Why don't you call me 'Bright Clarity'?” he asked with a mocking tone and a sidelong glance.
“…What's gotten into you?”
“Then why do you call him 'Fox Cat'?”
She had gotten used to calling him that in her past life, and it just slipped out.
“Am I the one who's gotten into something? Have you forgotten how he used to treat you? From now on, don't get too close to him – no, better yet, don't see him at all!”
Mario Yuno seized the opportunity of his jealousy to make a request, worried that the Marbled Cat Clan might tell Kiara something he shouldn't.
He didn't want her to know the secret of her birth.
Keeping things the way they were was just fine. If she found out that Yuzo Joel swapped a child from his mother-in-law's family to save his own daughter, wouldn't Kiara go crazy?
Considering the many years of affection she and her mother shared, she would be in a tough spot. It was better for things to remain as they were.
“Camden Yuno, are you getting jealous again? He's just my senior brother, what could be between us?” Kiara thought to herself that even without Camden in her past life, she hadn't been seduced by the bewitching Fox Cat man. This life was even less likely.
“Anyway, just stay away from him, got it?”
“Are you out of your mind? Why don't you just get a basket to trap me in? I've borne you a child, why are you still like this? I thought you'd matured, but it turns out you're still so childish!”
Mario Yuno had his own difficulties that he couldn't express. It wasn't that he was truly jealous, but he couldn't tell her the truth for her own good.
“Anyway, if you still care about this family, stay away from him. I could tell with my mystic insight that guy is bad news.”
Kiara snatched up Wendy's diaper and threw it at his handsome face, “I think the worst kind of bad news is you! Get to work and scram, you'll miss the second bus if you don't leave now!”
Edward Farmbright was chiding James Norris 'Norris Flowery Fox'.
“Are you bored or what, talking to her about Soul Particles?”
“I talked about it, so what? Auntie is already researching Soul Particles, isn't she?”
Farmbright choked a bit, unsure how much the Marbled Cat Clan actually knew about the past. They were always unfathomable, always smiling, but as shrewd as a Big Fox, just like his name suggested.
After all these years of clues, the Marbled Cat Clan could surely guess some of it.
“Auntie and Master don't get along, so try not to mention these things in front of the Junior Leader.”
“Junior Leader… is she a goddaughter or a real daughter? You can fool outsiders, but do you have to keep me in the dark too?”
“What's there to keep in the dark? How does it matter if she's a goddaughter or a real daughter? These are Old Man's private affairs. With Old Man being such a player outside, wouldn't it be strange if one or two forgotten princesses turned up one day from his escapades? Isn't that expected?”
“Heh.”
“'Heh' your Uncle, come on, let's go eat! From now on, talk about antiques or curios all you want with the Junior Leader, but don't bring up these kinds of Mysticism that contradict our research, or Master would not like to see you leading her astray.”
The more he thought about it, the more suspicious the Marbled Cat Clan appeared to be, that barely perceptible mocking smile on the corner of his lips seemed as if he saw through everything. Farmbright seldom encountered people he couldn't read, and the Marbled Cat Clan was one of them, and then there was that pretentious Junior Leader.
Come to think of it, among all the fellow disciples on the farmstead, it was the innocent Aka who was the most endearing. Farmbright began to miss Aka, especially the Spicy Hot Pot that Aka would buy.
At that moment, Aka was sitting tensely on the sofa in Kiara's home, looking at Mrs. Kiara, who was all set to go.
Mrs. Kiara, you're really taking Wendy to that kind of place? Aren't you afraid Brother Singh will be angry with you?
When Mrs. Kiara called her, she thought she had heard wrong.
“What's there to be angry about? What reason does he have to be angry?” Kiara was still upset with Edward Wheeler 'Bright Clarity'.
“But… can Wendy really go to that kind of place?”
“It's not like it's somewhere unspeakable. Why can't she go? I'm not taking my daughter to a brothel, it's just an auction. What's the issue!”
Kiara's method of relieving her anger was to shop till she dropped.
There happened to be an auction in the Imperial Capital, so she decided to treat her daughter to some Western extravagance.
By spending a hefty sum, she hoped to make the petty-minded Mario Yuno rue a little. Of course, besides that, Mrs. Kiara had another important task to attend to there.
“But if you just leave without saying a word to him and take the child, won't he worry about you and Wendy?”
“I'll leave a note for him. Anyway, we'll be back in three days.” Nothing could stop Kiara's determination to shop.
Aka was under the Boss's orders to protect Kiara. Even though Kiara was angry with Mario Yuno, she knew her limits and would ensure the safety of her child when heading out, so she had to bring Aka with her.
Aka looked worriedly at Wendy, “Even though the Imperial Capital isn't far, it's still a 2-hour drive. Will the child be fine?”
“No worries, I've called for backup. I've considered everything necessary.”
Kiara prepared both her and her daughter's clothes, checking herself out in the mirror from left to right. Over five months had passed, and she had managed to get her weight back to what it was before, with the toughest part being to lose the extra flesh around the waist gained from childbirth. During the past few months, Kiara diligently did yoga and exercises, only just succeeding in slimming down her waistline.
If she had been a bit lazier, that bit of flab would have remained with her for a lifetime. Mrs. Kiara had extremely high standards for her figure; she couldn't stand having a 'bucket waist' and had trained intensely for several months to return to her pre-pregnancy shape.
Giving birth is every woman's sacred mission, but an undeniable objective problem is that childbirth has a substantial impact on most women's figures. Very few women have the resolve like Mrs. Kiara to stick to a diet. Many mothers end up ruined by weight gain after childbirth. Childbirth is indeed the number one killer of a woman's physical appearance.
The more Kiara thought about how she had gone through all that trouble to bear his child, and he was still irrationally jealous, the more she felt it was unfair.
She had given Mario Yuno a chance, but his behavior had been a letdown. She decided it was time to teach him a lesson, within limits, of course.
“Mrs. Kiara, you don't think you've got postpartum depression, do you?” Aka asked tentatively.
Kiara scoffed, “Not bad, Academic Dregs, even you know about postpartum depression. But I can assure you I am not depressed!”
“…You're not the one who's depressed, but I feel like Brother Singh might be soon,” Aka muttered under his breath.
“What did you say?” Kiara narrowed her eyes, and Aka quickly smiled, claiming she said nothing!
Offending Society Mrs. Kiara seemed tantamount to being tired of living. Aka had an endless affection for life and food.
It wasn't until they were downstairs that Aka realized what Kiara meant by having everything ready.
“Wow, seeing a car like this inland is really something. So cool~” Aka whistled upon seeing the car parked downstairs at Kiara's residence.
No wonder Mrs. Kiara dared to take Wendy out–it was a motorhome.
Motorhomes have been in the Domestic Region since the Millennium but never really took off, and there aren't many in the entire country. The sight of this luxury car with its distinctive logo instantly captivated Aka.
“Mrs. Kiara, did you buy it?” Aka walked around the car in circles. She had always been fond of motorhomes and dreamed of buying one to travel around the world.
“I borrowed it.”
“Eh, who's so flashy to buy this–if you wait a moment!” Aka suddenly had an ominous premonition.
