Chapter 1275: Chapter 1247: One begets two, two beget three, three beget everything. Chapter 1275: Chapter 1247: One begets two, two beget three, three beget everything. Kiara first met Yuzo Joel when she went to eat at a Private Restaurant with him, where Yuzo Joel, disguised as a chef, gave Kiara a jar of wine; he already had plans to approach Kiara and make a good impression.
According to Professor Liu Taylor, during the second meeting Mario Yuno was not present, but he'd heard from Kiara that she once encountered Yuzo Joel at the Psychiatric Hospital–this was the deliberate arrangement that Professor Liu Taylor spoke of.
From then on, Aka was assigned to protect Kiara at all times, and Yuzo Joel appeared repeatedly.
This just proved the saying, “One begets two, two begets three, three begets everything.” After the third meeting, it led to the ensuing series of events.
Mario Yuno's brain structure was somewhat unique compared to others; he had an extraordinary ability to piece together details and clues. He quickly assembled a picture, and the truth seemed on the verge of revealing itself.
“Aunt Liu Taylor, do you remember which year Kiara participated in an international competition?”
Professor Liu Taylor mentioned a year, and Mario Yuno continued to inquire.
“Was Yuzo Joel among the judges of that competition?”
“I remember he was not; however, he should have paid attention to such a high-level competition. He himself has said that it was from that time, he started to notice our 'Steel Cannon' Kiara's capabilities.”
A piece of the puzzle snapped into place! Mario Yuno finally had a clear timeline, but now a question arose: exactly how many children did Yuzo Joel have?
If we go by what Yuzo Joel himself said, that Kiara was a child he had with his mother-in-law in a moment of confusion, then who was the child that was buried?
“Aunt Liu Taylor, are you sure Professor Joel had a child who passed away? Have you seen it yourself?”
“Of course, I saw it with my own eyes. The child had a congenital disease; not to mention the medical standards of that time, even now it would be incurable.”
“Why did you see it? You weren't particularly close with Professor Joel twenty years ago, right?”
“Yeah, why did I see that…” It was a bit of a distant past, and Professor Liu Taylor took some time to remember.
“That's right! I sneaked in! At that time, it was said that a team of scientists from overseas had arrived, and Mr. Joel was the leader. They were said to be researching some mysterious subject. I was young then and my studies weren't very solid. I always wanted to learn something from these industry elites. As you know, our nation was just starting out back then, and they were reluctant to involve us in their secret projects.”
Professor Liu Taylor was an impassioned young woman back then. With no backing and no connections, she relied solely on her thirst for knowledge and the strong belief to revitalize the Gardener Family through the knowledge she pilfered. She tried every way to sneak in, but to no avail, due to the strict security measures of the secret project.
Hence, she settled for the next best thing, loitering every day at the entrance of the guest house where Yuzo Joel and his team were staying, hoping for a chance encounter to discuss academia. However, she didn't get to discuss academia, instead, she witnessed Yuzo Joel organizing the funeral for his child.
“At that time, I saw the crematorium staff prepare a silk bag to put the child into, following the local custom that such a small child couldn't be carried but had to be placed in a bag. I saw Mr. Joel, crying, take the child back and personally carry him to the vehicle, ignoring what anyone else said.”
What was going on here? After hearing this, Mario Yuno felt he had fallen into a Rashomon-like situation, where the truth was complex and elusive. Yuzo Joel's statements were definitely a mix of truth and lies, but which part was true and which was false?
Mario Yuno had come to ask Professor Liu Taylor to help Kiara adjust her mood, but he had not anticipated stumbling upon such news. In his mind, there was an undercurrent of roiling emotions as countless intuitive little angels roared back and forth, creating a symphony of conspiracy.
There had to be some hidden story here, and Mario Yuno felt as though he was standing at the center of the mystery, on the cusp of grasping the truth yet always just missing something.
“Aunt Liu Taylor, do you remember the research direction of Yuzo Joel's team?”
“I don't know, but Yuzo Joel had already made a name for himself overseas by then. I went there specifically for him, but I heard that this was an interdisciplinary research project. Besides the Psychiatry Department, there were quite a few authorities from other fields as well. There was even a big shot from an overseas philosophy department who went to the University to select assistants. In the end, he chose two doctors and left with them. I just hate that he didn't come to our School. If he had picked me too, I might have had a chance to uncover the ultimate truth.” Whenever Professor Liu Taylor spoke of this matter, he was like a kid.
This seemingly reluctant complaint reminded Mario Yuno of something from the past.
“Aunt Liu Taylor, the female doctor who was selected from that University, didn't she have the surname Cornelle?”
“It was so long ago, how can I remember… I remember the name was somewhat strange, not very clear in my memory.”
It was a distant memory and not a significant event, so only a general recollection remained.
“Sonya Cornelle?”
“Right! That's the one!” Professor Liu Taylor suddenly remembered as he smacked his forehead.
Other names might have been forgotten, but this one was memorable because it was a name of a lyrical meter, and as soon as Mario Yuno mentioned it, Professor Liu Taylor remembered.

Another piece of the puzzle clicked into place in Mario Yuno's mind. It seemed that aside from Yuzo Joel, the only other person who knew the truth back then was Sonya Cornelle. His intuition faintly suggested that Kiara's origins might be connected to that scientific research group from back then. His mind was on the verge of connecting everything, yet he lacked that flash of insight.
The most pressing issue at the moment was Kiara's health, so Mario Yuno took Professor Liu Taylor back home to see Kiara.
Kiara hugged a pillow as she stared blankly out of the window, only turning around when she heard the door, her eyes sparkling with life upon seeing Camden bringing in the Teacher.
“Teacher, you've come!”
“I've come to see you. I heard you've not been in great spirits lately?” Professor Liu Taylor went over and sat beside Kiara, examining her carefully. She had lost a little weight.
They had not seen each other for just a few days, but her carefully tended little face had thinned out again. Seated as she was, with her belly's bulge not in sight, no one would have guessed she was pregnant.
With an apprentice feeling distressed and Kiara not in the best of spirits, Professor Liu Taylor gave Mario Yuno a meaningful look. Mario Yuno excused himself, claiming he needed to go to his workplace organisation, and left the room to Professor Liu Taylor and Kiara.
Kiara probably guessed why Professor Liu Taylor had come. She didn't like her current state either, but the thing is, a person's mental state is hard to control under certain circumstances, let alone being a pregnant woman whose emotions can be amplified many times over.
There were things she couldn't discuss with her Teacher, such as her relationship with Yuzo Joel and her past life. It was precisely because she hid too much that Professor Liu Taylor's counseling was ineffective. With so many secrets between them, Professor Liu Taylor couldn't reach into her heart. Professor Liu Taylor used all his energy, and Kiara, fearing to disappoint him, pretended it was effective.
As soon as Professor Liu Taylor left, her little face fell again.
The Beautiful Lady who had always been with her saw Kiara so uncomfortable and, being considerate, cuddled up to her. Kiara stroked its fur and sighed deeply.
“Why can't I control my own heart again? I don't like being depressed, but those hateful memories always seem to burst unexpectedly into my mind. The more I try to drive them away, the more upset I become.”
She definitely felt symptoms of prenatal depression, something she could sense herself.
