Chapter 1261: Chapter 1233: The Long-Anticipated Good News Chapter 1261: Chapter 1233: The Long-Anticipated Good News Feeling Mum's angry gaze, Mario Yuno coughed twice symbolically and pretended to put on a stern face as he said to Kiara.
“You can't take risks like that anymore, okay?”
“Yes, my lord and husband, you are right,” Kiara pretended to be chastised.
“Remember this lesson, okay? If you dare to go around causing trouble with the bump again, watch out or I'll–”
Mario Yuno placed his hand on Kiara's belly, halfheartedly issuing a warning.
But he couldn't think of how to punish Kiara at the moment. This was all just a front of family status put on for his mother's benefit. In reality, at home, Mario Yuno's position wasn't even as high as the Beautiful Lady's; it was already not bad that Kiara didn't punish him.
Mother Yuno saw through her son's bluff but didn't call him out, cheerfully waiting for him to continue. Blow your own trumpet, she thought, go on, keep it up!
When Mario Yuno saw that both his mum and daughter-in-law were looking at him with the same expression, he gritted his teeth. As a man of Gentlemen White, he had to follow through with his own boast, even if it meant doing so on his knees!
“I'll just dock your rations! You eat so well every day yet don't listen. Fruits, cut off! Snacks, cut off! Seafood, you're not getting any more–”
Suddenly, Camden froze like he'd been shocked by electricity, and Kiara felt it too. Husband and wife exchanged a look, filled with surprise.
Could that tremor be the long-awaited… fetal movement?!
Mother Yuno stood by the side, unaware of the young couple's joy. Hearing her son threatening to cut the daughter-in-law's rations, she was so angry she twisted Mario Yuno's ear.
“What are you, silly as a woodcock? Can you cut back on a pregnant woman's food? You can't skip even one meal!”
“It moved, it moved!” Mario Yuno exclaimed joyfully, feeling the magical and blissful sensation!
When he had placed his hand on Kiara's stomach just now, he felt a rumbling as if something swam by, oh my–
“Moved what?” Mother Yuno asked.
“Willa moved! Willa, move for daddy, quick!” he urged, unable to wait, and Kiara too wanted to experience it again.
Mother Yuno frowned. “David? I haven't opened up Claro Joel yet! What kind of nickname are you giving the child at random!”
“Mum, stop nagging. Your nagging has made our Willa stop moving, hush!”
Now that Mario Yuno had a son, he felt he had everything and even dared to answer back to his own mum just to make the child move again.
Being the experienced person she was, Mother Yuno didn't take it personally. Instead, she joined Mario Yuno around Kiara's belly, and the three of them didn't dare to breathe loudly, waiting for the next movement.
Silence reigned.
“What are you all huddled here for, Old Woman, aren't you steaming oysters? Hurry and get the oysters steamed and then stew the fish. After eating, you three had better go back quickly, Isaac can't manage without people either!” Mr. Yuno walked in, and as soon as he started naming dishes, Mario Yuno felt that magical rumbling moving sensation in Kiara's belly again!
This time, the movement was much clearer than before, and everyone was thrilled. After such a long wait, the baby was finally willing to move around.
“Gets this excited at the mention of food, definitely a little glutton,” Kiara muttered under her breath, somewhat suspicious that she had a foodie living in her stomach.
Once it started, everything else followed naturally.
Ever since the baby had moved in the Yuno Family home, Kiara started feeling frequent fetal movements.
Unlike the punchy and kicky movements she'd felt when pregnant with Isaac and Tony Stone, the movements in her belly felt gentle and rhythmic.
Every morning, Mario Yuno would wake up earlier than Kiara, and he'd recite a list of dishes to her belly. Then, Kiara's stomach would make a gurgling sound, and the baby inside would swim around like a playful big fish.
Before going to bed at night, Mario Yuno would recite another list, steamed lamb, steamed bear's paw…
This behavior left Kiara not knowing whether to laugh or cry. What if such prenatal education led to the birth of a foodie who would later wreak havoc with a cooking spoon?
Mario Yuno was unbothered and even retorted to Kiara. What's wrong with wielding a cooking spoon? Whatever the child liked to do, she should do. There is no distinction between noble and humble careers; if his child ended up wielding a cooking spoon, she would be on the level of a little head chef.
Anyway, with a child, one has everything one needs. He hadn't even seen her yet, and already he thought the world of her.
During this time, the family was all in good spirits, and Kiara was joyfully awaiting the child's arrival. Yuzo Joel was still overseas and couldn't return, so Kiara's homework fell to Edward Farmbright, the Eldest Brother.
Edward Farmbright maintained his green tea persona, pretending to be a sage while finding ways to tease Kiara and trip her up in her homework. All were trivial matters, though, and to Kiara, it was akin to a child's pouting proclamation of “I won't play with you again.” No matter how hard Edward Farmbright tried, he couldn't elicit any retaliatory behavior from Kiara.
If someone fought back, it would be fun. His various attempts to provoke her were met with indifferent disregard by Kiara, who was proudly sporting a pregnant belly. After one or two tries, Edward Farmbright discovered it was just too difficult to torment Kiara with homework. In fact, sometimes he had to watch out for Kiara's sharp skills, which could backfire on him. After a few times, Edward Farmbright lost interest in causing trouble.
He was definitely tricked by his master, tasked with supervising Kiara. It wasn't about tormenting her; instead, it turned out to be Kiara tormenting him!
Getting countered by her on professional matters was bad enough, but the few times he seemed to have the upper hand, he happened to be seen by Kiara's Mario Yuno. Just as Edward Farmbright was scolding Kiara over an issue she hadn't handled well, he felt a chill shooting towards him. That's when he noticed Mario Yuno–who had returned home at some point–staring him down with those bright shiny eyes.
After having bullied Kiara, Edward Farmbright found himself cornered in the hallway by Mario Yuno, under the guise of wanting to “exchange a few moves.” The next day, he sported a fresh black eye!
Where could he even go to complain? His heart tormented by Kiara and his body by Mario Yuno; Edward Farmbright really wanted to drag his teacher back for a good thrashing. Old Man, you deceived me!
However, after these few incidents, Edward Farmbright and Kiara developed a bit of a sibling-like bond. Reaching their level, there was a mutual feeling of respect and shared regret at not having met sooner, only neither was willing to admit it aloud.
That day, Edward Farmbright and Kiara were returning from the Hospital. Edward Farmbright was dropping Kiara off at home–and also hoping to freeload a meal. Ever since he inadvertently tasted one of Mario Yuno's homemade meals, he was hooked on his bold cooking; large chunks of meat and fish, scoffing joyously, he constantly sought excuses to mooch meals at Kiara's place.
On the way, Edward Farmbright noticed Kiara yawn repeatedly and asked.
“Your Arua isn't shameless enough to mess with a pregnant woman, causing you to lose sleep, is he?”
Kiara shook her head, “Not blaming him this time–it's myself…”
“You're doing it yourself?!” Edward Farmbright gasped, “I wouldn't have guessed you'd be like this… Is it that your man isn't up to the task, or are you just too wild? Do you need me to analyze the psychological significance of your behavior?”
“Where did your mind wander off to? I meant it's my own fault because I've been having the same dream lately.”
