Chapter 1260: Chapter 1232 This Matter is Worth Discussing Chapter 1260: Chapter 1232 This Matter is Worth Discussing Compared to Mother Yuno, Mr. Yuno was even more straightforward, bad-tempered, and obstinate. Ever since they returned, he kept a stern face, berating the Grutt Family for their wrongdoings while Mother Yuno was discussing with him how to further vent their anger on Kiara's behalf.
It was all right for one's own child to be taught a lesson behind closed doors, but it was absolutely unacceptable for outsiders to handle it.
Kiara lay on the bed, reflecting on the events of the day, from Sonya Cornelle to August First, and eventually fell asleep while thinking about it.
In a daze, she had a dream, and it was an odd one. She saw two kids lying side by side on a kang bed, with someone talking beside them. Kiara felt in her subconscious that the words were important, but the more she tried to listen, the less clear they became.
Anxious in her heart, her eyes suddenly opened, and she was startled by the large head she saw before her.
“Ah!”
“Daughter-in-law!” Mario Yuno quickly took her hand, full of concern, “Did you have a nightmare?”
Kiara angrily pulled her hand back and glared at him, “What nightmare! You're the one who scared me!”
Mario Yuno had no idea when he had returned, just sitting by her bedside, vigilantly watching over her. It wasn't enough to just watch; he had to lean his head close to her face, and one kiss wasn't enough, he went for another, and as he was going back and forth with his kisses, Kiara woke up, giving him quite a fright.
“When did you get back?” Kiara glanced at the small alarm clock on the bedside table. She felt as though she had only slept for a moment, eyes closing and opening again, but it turned out that 3 hours had already passed. That was quite a long sleep.
“Just walked in–I heard that you went off to be a female warrior today?” The man who a second ago was sneakily stealing kisses, his face turned sullen at the mention of this.
“Uh, listen to me, it really wasn't my fault. Who told that Old Lady to bully me? She even used her gaze to curse me as a vixen!” Upon hearing that he was about to settle scores with her, Kiara immediately deflected all blame.
“Cursed you with her gaze?”
What kind of new skill was that?
Kiara cleared her throat twice, “Don't mind the details, I was just bullied anyhow, and everything that followed was legitimate self-defense!”
Mario Yuno's face darkened even more when he heard that Kiara had been scolded, but not because of Kiara–it was due to Mrs. Grutt.
He had been tied up in a meeting earlier and couldn't make it immediately. By the time he got the message from his mother that Kiara had been beaten, Mario Yuno rushed over in a panic. Upon entering and seeing Kiara was fine and asleep, Mother Yuno took him aside and gave her son a severe scolding.
The gist of it was about why he wasn't accompanying Kiara, why he let a pregnant woman go contend with a charlatan, and she even asked Camden how scared he was on his way there.
To say he was merely scared was an understatement–Mario Yuno was nearly scared to death. Mother Yuno scoffed, saying that he deserved to be terrified and that if he didn't take better care of his daughter-in-law next time, he deserved to die from fright!
Mother Yuno couldn't bear to direct her anger at Kiara, so naturally, she turned against her son. Consequently, Camden had already been thoroughly dealt with, and now he wasn't planning to let Kiara off the hook either.
Reluctant to scold or beat her, he still had to lecture her a bit.
“I brought so many people with you. How could you still let anyone touch you? Where did they touch you? Let me check!”
Kiara pointed to her face, and only when Mario Yuno saw not a trace of a mark did he believe that his daughter-in-law had not been wronged.
“How is it my fault? How could I know that Old Lady would be so physically expressive? It was an accidental injury.”
She didn't get hurt while raiding the place with her crew, yet she got struck by an Old Lady with lively gestures. What a bizarre turn of events.
This was, after all, a very unlikely incident. Mario Yuno knew Kiara made a lot of sense but was not willing to just let it go that easily.
“Remember this for next time. Can't you stand farther back when you go out to watch the excitement?”
Kiara heard this and wanted to laugh but had to suppress it, nodding earnestly as if she had learned a lesson.
“Mmm-hmm!”
“Next time I see Stingy Guy, I'll make sure he shells out some money and skin him three layers deep. My daughter-in-law took a slap for his wife–can't let that guy off easy.”
“Stingy Guy?”
Mario Yuno had already heard from his mother, it turns out that the Old Lady who upset his daughter-in-law was actually Yoel Marine's mother.
“Yeah, that Yoel Marine Sword character, haven't I told you about a Vixen codenamed Yoel Marine Sword who has been causing me tons of trouble? Hahaha, this time his wife stood up for righteousness for my daughter-in-law, I'd like to see what he has to brag about to me now!”
“…” Kiara thought to herself that Yoel Marine is someone who keeps his personal and professional life separate. Though he was thankful in private, he also said that the next time he meets Edward Wheeler, it will be a fight to the death.
“You wouldn't make things difficult for Yoel Marine Sword at work just because of me, would you?”
“Even without your involvement, I'd still fight that kid to the death. But I really can't hold the Old Lady's actions against him–separate issues should be dealt with separately.”
“I also find it a bit strange, why is Yoel Marine Sword so tense with his mother?”
Kiara had long found it odd; the two of them didn't seem like mother and son at all–they lacked any semblance of a family bond. The first thing Yoel Marine Sword did when he arrived was to see his wife, then apologize to Kiara. He never took the Old Lady seriously from start to finish.
“Stingy Guy's last name is Yuno, you get it now?”
“Ah…” Kiara suddenly realized. No wonder she felt something was off. It turned out to be this way; Yoel Marine Sword's background seemed to be like Zoe's–they were both adopted.
“I said when his youngest brother arrived, my sister-in-law and I thought there had been a genetic mutation. It turns out the genes haven't changed at all.”
Kiara forcefully shifted the conversation to genetics. When it came to genetics, she also remembered something else.
“By the way, Camden, have you ever heard of Soul Weight?”
“I have read about it in a science magazine. There was an issue dedicated to it. It's controversial, with many different opinions. Personally, I lean toward the theory that the soul is a structure of thinking consciousness within a biological magnetic field, not subject to Earth's gravity, which allows it to travel between Earth and the universe. But the specific data on Soul Weight, I think, lacks theoretical and empirical support. If there really are Soul Particles, they would be subject to wave-particle duality and wouldn't possess weight.”
Kiara agreed with this view, and their opinions on this matter were quite consistent.
“Current scientific knowledge is still not enough. When we look at the teachings of the past with today's perspectives, it always seems like superstition, like how I laugh at My Mom for believing everything. But wait a few years, and the people of that time will laugh at our current self-proclaimed scientific civilization as ignorant. That's how eras progress. The scientific frameworks we believe in are continually being overturned.”
Mysticism in ancient times was also considered the highest level of science, wasn't it? Our current level of science is too low; many phenomena are inexplicable, and we can only say that our current scientific framework is the most advanced within the current context. If a more rigorous scientific system emerges in the future, ours will also be overturned.
The two discussed the wave-particle duality for a while. Edward Wheeler was interested in all kinds of books and was particularly intrigued by this topic. Kiara was a woman with a high reserve of knowledge; they communicated without barriers, exchanging views and enjoying the conversation.
Kiara successfully diverted the topic and was secretly pleased when she heard Mother Yuno coughing at the door.
The couple turned their heads simultaneously to see Mother Yuno standing at the doorway with a warm smile, holding a bowl of soup.
“Here, Kiara, this is to nourish you. Youngest, you seem to be enjoying your chat with your daughter-in-law, huh?”
“Ah…”
Edward Wheeler felt a bit guilty.
The Old Lady had tasked him with influencing Kiara's thinking, and here he was, discussing wave-particle duality with her…
