Chapter 1258: Chapter 1230 How Can There Be Such a Foolish Person Chapter 1258: Chapter 1230 How Can There Be Such a Foolish Person The noble lady, seeing her proud son being choked by the bastard, screamed and rushed over, pounding on Yoel Marine, “Let go, you're going to strangle him!”
“No matter what, he was bound to cause trouble sooner or later. We'll settle the total account when we get back!” Yoel Marine let go, and the man who had just been incredibly arrogant started coughing desperately.
Yoel Marine took some money out of the bag Sania brought over and placed it in front of Kiara.
“I deeply apologize for the trouble this has caused you. Here's some money for the medical expenses. Keep it, and if it's not enough, I'll make sure he compensates you later.”
After saying that, he took out another portion, which made Sania's heartache.
“You've already given them all the money, why are you still taking mine! You're way too stingy!”
Yoel Marine coldly said, “Your sister-in-law was frightened by your reckless actions. I need to take her upstairs to register, and you'll be paying the fees.”
“I might as well go broke–never seen a man this petty…” Sania muttered under her breath, not daring to speak loudly for fear of being choked again.
The noble lady stamped her foot in anger; Yoel Marine's visit was nothing but a hindrance, boosting others' prestige while squashing her own family's spirits!
Yoel Marine didn't care about her expression, carefully hugging Sophie Lemmon.
“Sophie, I'll take you upstairs to see a doctor.” His voice was noticeably warmer when speaking to her than to others. As he passed by Sania, who was still coughing, he dropped another line.
“All of your sister-in-law's medical expenses will be on your account, pay the excess, and we'll refund the shortfall.”
Having said that, he walked away with Sophie Lemmon, disregarding the others' expressions.
The humiliated noble lady couldn't accept this in her heart and asked Mother Yuno.
“What does your family do? Dare you leave a name behind for me!”
She could not wait to retaliate when she got back–this was outright bullying!
Mother Yuno and Kiara had not even had the chance to speak before another voice came from not far away.
“So disgraceful, can't you just shut up!”
The noble lady turned her head and saw that it was her own husband who had arrived, but she didn't expect that the first thing he would do was to chastise her. Wondering what made her usually obliging husband speak to her like that, she saw that he was accompanied by someone else.
This person was about the same age as her husband, but his face?
The noble lady was shocked–why did he look somewhat familiar?
It wasn't anyone else who had come but Mr. Yuno and this noble lady's husband, William Grutt.
Both had received calls from their family and rushed over, recognizing each other at the entrance.
The two families shared the last name Grutt, and although their relationship wasn't close, they would still exchange a few words upon meeting.
They each said they had something to do, and it wasn't easy to explain what it was, but as they entered, they discovered that their destinations were both the emergency room. Both men had a bad feeling–could it be the same incident?
Indeed, they arrived just in time to hear Mrs. Grutt pointing at Mother Yuno and shouting. Seeing the situation wasn't good, Mr. Grutt promptly intervened to stop her.
He mentally cursed his wife thoroughly. That good-for-nothing woman didn't realize the place she was in and was bullying people with her power. He had only been transferred here not long ago, and hadn't got a grip on the local work yet, and there she was, causing trouble everywhere.
He even heard the contemptuous snort from Jerome Yuno's nose when his own wife pointed at someone else and demanded a name. Although Mr. Grutt had not met Mother Yuno, he could guess the situation from Mr. Yuno's attitude and intervened to stop his wife's tirade.
“Old Grutt, when did you get here?” The noble lady, who was Mrs. Grutt, was very surprised to see her own husband and immediately softened her tone, because she saw the stern-faced man following alongside her husband.
“Yoel Marine called me, are you out of your mind?” Mr. Grutt glared fiercely, ready to settle accounts.
At this moment, Mother Yuno also pretended to be virtuous as she approached Mr. Yuno, “Old Yu, how come you're here?”
This was pretending to be oblivious when she knew exactly why. Mother Yuno had called Mr. Yuno on her way to let him know their daughter-in-law had been bullied and now lay in the hospital, unable to get up. Mr. Yuno had come straight over after leaving his workplace upon hearing the news.
It was clear that she was feigning ignorance while fully aware. Kiara watched her mother-in-law's performance and snickered internally; the old indeed had their cunning ways.
“I heard our daughter-in-law was beaten, who did it?” Mr. Yuno's eyes swept around the room, causing Mrs. Grutt to step back in fear, while Mr. Grutt hastily tried to appease with a smile.
“Old Yu, this is like a temple flood where even the dragon king gets swept away–our own family not recognizing each other. I think it's definitely a misunderstanding. Let's quickly check on the child, and if she's sick, we'll take care of it. My spouse got up feeling a bit cold and dizzy, unable to stand steady, and caused all this ruckus–I'm really sorry about that.”
“She even hit me!” Mrs. Grutt, seeing the tide turn, pointed at Mother Yuno with resentment, unhappy with her own spouse's reaction!
You idiot!
This was how Mr. Grutt was roaring inside, yet he couldn't show it on his face. He had already left an opening in his words, hoping to smooth things over with the excuse of illness, not intending harm. Everyone knew Jerome Yuno was fiercely protective–once you got on his bad side, even if you weren't in the same system, he could still turn your life upside down!
Alas, he had an idiot for a partner, leaving Mr. Grutt utterly frustrated.
“Oh, turns out we all know each other!” Mother Yuno feigned surprise, then turned to ask Mr. Yuno, “Old Yu, you know each other?”
“Old friends from before, always bumping into each other at the Market Mall.”
The Sister-in-law quickly stooped to pick up the money, playing along smartly with Abigail Nana, pretending to scold the elder Brother.
“Have you had too much to drink? How can you not hold onto your bag and let things fall out like this.”
“Yeah, drinking too much does lead to trouble, haha.” The elder Brother laughed heartily as he took the money, pocketing it with an almost aggrieved expression from Mrs. Grutt.
“Since everyone here knows each other, then there's nothing to say, it's all a misunderstanding. You all didn't stand firm, and we didn't hold onto our bag tightly, hehe,” Mother Yuno said with a smile that didn't reach her eyes.
Her talk was several levels above Mrs. Grutt. This was how a true lady of status should conduct herself–no matter how fierce the argument just now, now she must appear sincere, as if nothing had happened at all.
Kiara and the Sister-in-law nodded at the same time, “Right, it's all a misunderstanding!”
Mrs. Grutt swallowed her resentment. Kiara's family was united, presenting a common front to the world with impeccable facade. After all, they had already won a great victory and secured an advantage at home. It was important to give some face and not to speak too definitively, because cleanup, if necessary, could always come later. You can't give others the slightest handle.
Mr. Grutt looked at the mother and daughters-in-law's bearing and then at his own spouse, sighing in his heart.
No wonder the Yuno Family had thrived for generations–just look at their choice of daughter-in-law, from the eldest to the youngest, all through them ran a thread of shrewdness.
Then there was his own family–having started from nothing and climbed from the ground up with him, their quality still fell short of a family with generations of breeding.
“Oh, a misunderstanding?” Mr. Yuno inquired.
Mr. Grutt nodded eagerly, “Yes, yes, yes, all a misunderstanding!”
“I see there's a line of people standing outside, those are–” Mr. Yuno questioned.
“Those are, those are, they're…” Mr. Grutt thought miserably of his hapless third son, who always caused such trouble. How could he possibly explain this?
“What does it matter that I brought those people? What are you up to?” Sania spoke up, and Mr. Grutt wished he could slap him multiple times for his stupidity.
