(Extra update for reaching 2800 monthly tickets) “I was just calling Aka to ask where the Old Man's hidden booze was, and you thought it was what!” Edward Farmstead had been unjustly beaten and felt stifled as he couldn't overpower Mario Yuno, which was incredibly annoying. In all his life, he hadn't suffered such a big loss!
“Booze…?!” Mario Yuno hadn't expected it to be that.
Hearing this, Yuzo Joel quickly strode to the secret compartment and yanked open the opened safe, which indeed was full of alcohol; seeing this, he walked over and gave Edward Farmstead a kick in the butt.
“You brat! Who told you to touch this! With all that money and my research in the safe outside, why didn't you use that to exchange for booze?”
Now Edward Farmstead really looked ridiculous, with a mark from Mario Yuno's kick on his clothes and another from his Master's kick on his pants–talk about feeling wronged.
“The thing I'm least short of is money and fame! Old Man, would you give me a bottle of booze for a million?”
Yuzo Joel waved his hand dismissively, “Beat it, beat it, beat it, don't even think about it. We'll open it when your junior sister has given birth to the child and we're celebrating the hundred-day festival, then everyone can drink together!”
This suggestion clearly didn't get Edward Farmstead's approval, and he looked disdainful.
“Who wants to drink her leftover–ah!”
The moment Edward Farmstead finished speaking, he let out a scream, as Mario Yuno and Yuzo Joel kicked him simultaneously, leaving the poor white clothes with shoe prints all over.
Who would let this guy off after he called Kiara a leftover? That was intolerable!
After Mario Yuno finished the kick, he knew in his heart that he had caused a blunder today. It seemed to be their internal affair, and him jumping in to beat someone up was his mistake. Sticking around would be bad if those two teamed up against him.
“Professor Joel, Kiara asked me to deliver some things to you, they're all downstairs. I need to go back and take care of my daughter-in-law, we'll talk another time.”
Having said that, he was ready to leave when Edward Farmstead felt discontented. What was the meaning of this? Hit someone and just run away?
Just as he was about to call on his Master to join in beating up the guy, Yuzo Joel dragged him back by the collar, “Come here, let's discuss your nonsense nicknames for your junior sister and calling her a leftover…”
As the door shut, Mario Yuno only heard a burst of screams from inside, and he shook his head, not feeling a bit of sympathy for that guy–served him right!
Edward Farmstead was first hit with a sneak attack by Mario Yuno and then severely lectured by his Teacher, leaving him simmering with frustration, lying on the ground, refusing to get up.
Yuzo Joel prodded him with the tip of his foot, “Don't play dead. Lie back down, let me see if the wound has split open.”
“The wound didn't split, but my heart did… just kill me.”
Edward Farmstead said petulantly.
“How could I bear to kill you, you're my best Apprentice.”
“Hmph! Isn't your best apprentice always that taskmaster Chen? Go find her.”
Was there no justice in this world? He risked his life for the Old Man, wiping memories overseas, nearly died, got several stitches on his stomach, and came back to recover from his injuries, only to be ambushed and beaten up by that Madman earlier. His life was nothing but darkness.
“She's not good enough, you're far more efficient.”
Hearing these words from Yuzo Joel, Edward Farmstead sat up with a grunt, a face full of arrogant pride.
“Old Man, you finally realize my worth, huh?”
“Of course, it's because you're worthwhile. If I killed you, where would I find such a useful Labor?”
Edward Farmstead felt like he could spit blood, so he was just born to be a laborer!
“I'm just teasing, you're so grown up yet act like a child. Come on, let your Master take a look at your injury.”
Yuzo Joel pulled Edward Farmstead up. After all that commotion, the wound hadn't opened up and seemed to be Recovering not too badly.
“Are you sure you wiped all the memories from that person?”
“Of course, don't you trust my abilities? If not, I'll make your darling Kiara do it!”
Yuzo Joel looked at the scabbed wound on Andrew Farmstead's belly, an injury Andrew got when he was caught in the crossfire between two groups fighting on his way back after finishing a task. The incident was so unexpected that Yuzo Joel hadn't anticipated his apprentice getting caught up in such a sudden conflict–almost losing his beloved student overseas.
“Andrew, your master is sorry.”
From the moment Andrew returned swaying, pale-faced, Yuzo Joel had been deeply upset.
“Aren't you being cheesy? Why say that! If you really feel guilt, just get out your hidden stash of booze!” Andrew's face flushed slightly. That old man always got sentimental so easily–annoying!
“Definitely no alcohol for you; the doctor said you can't have that stuff while you're healing, unless you want to end up with a big hole in your stomach.”
“Hmph! Just excuses; you just don't want me drinking what you saved for your little Kiara!”
“Andrew, do you really hate your junior sister that much?”
“Duh! I just can't stand her, so what? You gonna beat me up again?”
“Cough, cough, not at all, not at all. Since your feud with your junior sister is so intense, well, how about I devise a way to torture her and vent your anger, would that be good?”
Huh…? What was the old man thinking? Didn't he adore that girl more than anyone? How could he suggest avenging him?
“Old man, are you serious with what you're saying?” Andrew eyed Yuzo Joel skeptically–what mischief was the old man plotting now?
“Of course I'm serious. It's not right for you to always suppress your anger towards your junior sister, and if you two need to work together in the future, it won't do for you to be so rigid.”
“How so?”
“What if I assign her training to you? You can give her a hard time all you want–for instance, if she does something wrong professionally, you can scold her harshly. If need be, smacking her on the head a few times works too. Whatever it takes to shatter her confidence–just unleash that mean and unscrupulous tongue of yours!”
Andrew inhaled sharply. “Are you serious? You wouldn't be hurt by that?”
“I only feel pain for talented people. If she can't cut it, she deserves it. Don't hesitate to scold or beat her. Sometimes I just can't bring myself to do it; one look at her cute, puppy-dog eyes, and my heart melts. She's too adorable; I simply can't discipline her.”
“…Where in the world is that sinister four-eyed girl cute? Okay, okay, I won't talk about her if you don't glare at me. She's the cutest and most kawaii, alright?”
Yuzo Joel cracked a 'that's more like it' expression and continued.
“I'm too busy sometimes to follow up with her, so I'll leave her basic training to you. When I'm not around, you teach her. If she doesn't catch on, you have my permission to be tough with her; scold or beat her however you like, just don't cause serious damage.”
“Old man, why are you being so generous all of a sudden? I'm not used to it.” Wasn't she the old man's precious little kiara? He couldn't even bear the slightest mishap with her.
“I'm just afraid you two can't get along in the future. I want you to get used to each other in advance, deepen your mutual understanding. You two are very important to me; it would upset me to see you clashing.”
Andrew's heart ached with a sourness. “Who's good friends with her! Old man, if I'm too harsh and bruise your precious flower, don't hate me.”
Saying so, he dragged his weary body to the bedroom. He really admired the old man's ability to find more chores for himself.
Accepting the task counted as an agreement, and Yuzo Joel was delighted. “I'll make some delicious food for you, help you recover?”
At the mention of Yuzo Joel cooking, Edward Farmbright's back instantly straightened, and he became entirely flustered.
“Spare me, please! I'll cook! Just stay away from the kitchen… Really, how much money did I owe you in my past life? I must have owed you!”
Dragging a beaten-up body to cook for the Old Man, Edward Farmbright felt his life was a tragedy.
