Chapter 1241: Chapter 1213: No…What Effort? Chapter 1241: Chapter 1213: No…What Effort? When it came to his daughter-in-law's health, Mario Yuno was uncompromising.
“I had no intention of donating to him, and even if I did, there's no guarantee it would be a match. My Mom is worried that he'll cause trouble for us, knowing him, he'll stop at nothing to get what he wants,” Kiara's mother said.
Kiara's mother was mainly concerned that if Rico Clark really made a scene at Kiara's school or at the Workplace Organisation's entrance, it would reflect poorly on both Edward Wheeler 'Bright Clarity' and Kiara who were both respectable individuals. Outsiders didn't know how Rico Clark treated Kiara, and if they latched onto public opinion to attack her, claiming that the girl was neglecting her own father, how would others view Kiara?
Despite being superstitious and not the sharpest tool, Kiara's mother was very thoughtful when it came to protecting her child. She had envisioned many malicious schemes Rico Clark could come up with, having lived with the man and known his character for years.
Edward Wheeler 'Bright Clarity' pondered for a moment, “I'll handle this.”
“I can deal with it myself.”
“Don't worry about those things, a pregnant woman should focus on nurturing her baby.”
This phrase had sounded sweet at first, but after hearing it too often, Kiara felt an inevitable pressure, and her expression darkened.
Following their recent communication, Edward Wheeler 'Bright Clarity' remembered what she had said, and his heart softened.
“Is staying at home really that boring?”
“Yes!!” She nodded vigorously.
For someone used to mental work, not having anything to do suddenly could be quite uncomfortable. Work for Kiara was not just a means to make money, but also a stepping stone to fulfill her highest spiritual needs by realizing her self-worth.
“Tell me about the job Yuzo Joel found for you. What exactly do you do, and does being around a bunch of troubled individuals affect your mood and make you feel their pain?”
Seeing a chance, Kiara eagerly explained, “It's not tiring! Being with a bunch of cute babies is super adorable, and the parents are all very polite. In their eyes, we psychologists are like magicians. And I want to use this opportunity to revisit the experience of being with children.”
It had been years since her past life of raising a child, and she had long forgotten how to bring up a child. This opportunity was perfect for a trial run.
“Revisit?”
“I mean, get a head start on the feeling.”
Edward Wheeler 'Bright Clarity' thought for a moment, “Next time I'll go with you to have a look. If your body can handle it, then go ahead.”
“Eh…?”
Kiara was surprised at his easy-going response; hadn't he always insisted that she focus on her pregnancy?
Edward Wheeler 'Bright Clarity' touched her stomach, “I wanted you to focus on your pregnancy for your own good, but if you don't like that, then it isn't right to stress you out in the name of what's best for you. I haven't been thorough enough in some ways, and I haven't considered everything. Since Yuzo Joel has thought it through for me, then I owe him thanks.”
Couples should put themselves in each other's shoes. If Edward Wheeler 'Bright Clarity' hadn't just listened to Kiara's heartfelt words, he would still be insisting on caring for her in the way he thought was best. But now that his way of showing concern was bringing her stress, he too had to reflect.
Kiara was delighted, “I must tell my daughter in the future that to find a man, she should stay away from straight male chauvinists and look for a good communicator like her father who understands empathy!”
Mario Yuno was flattered but hadn't lost his reason. He wanted to quip a few words–who was it that couldn't even look him in the eye just a moment ago and told him to get lost?
“It's time for prenatal education, do you… want to discuss the 'Opera' with me?”
Emma! Happiness came so abruptly! Mario Yuno instantly forgot what he was going to say. A benefit without even an argument–how could he refuse!
As for what the two of them ended up discussing that night, there's no need to go into details–suffice to say it went very well.
When Kiara next went to the Hospital to give a lecture, Mario Yuno specifically took an hour off to accompany her. Seeing a roomful of kids crawling around and Kiara so happy doing it, Mario Yuno was relieved.
After calculating, it was only 20 minutes a Week,, and she was interacting with pure-hearted children anyway. Kiara was happy, the parents of those kids needed her, and Mario Yuno shifted to being supportive.
This whole thing was Yuzo Joel's idea, and Mario Yuno foolishly got jealous over it. Now, seeing Kiara so joyful, he thought he should thank Yuzo Joel, so after dropping Kiara Home,, he decided to give Yuzo Joel a call to express his gratitude.
He originally planned to make a call, but then thought that a mere phone call seemed insincere. It would be better to visit in person, bringing a gift as a token of thanks.
That was Mario Yuno's personality–once he accepted it, he was grateful to anyone who was good to Kiara, even if it was Yuzo Joel, whom he had been jealous of.
Yuzo Joel had bought a house near Kiara's University,, but he wasn't Home most of the time. His public service kept him busy, traveling the World. Mario Yuno knew he was home because Yuzo Joel had called Kiara the night before. Camden knew too but didn't bother to notify him–he just bought some gifts and headed straight there.
Yuzo Joel was someone who valued quality of life. His house was located in a high-end community not far from the School, where one had to swipe a card or call the owner to gain entry. Mario Yuno, disliking the hassle and relying on his physical ability, simply scaled the wall to get in. The community had high-rises at the back and a few joined Villas at the front, and Yuzo Joel lived in the Villa area.
When Mario Yuno arrived, he found Yuzo Joel's front door was shut tight. After pressing the doorbell several times and realizing it seemed to be broken, he thought to hang the gifts on the door and call. But when he saw a fleeting figure from the second-floor bedroom, he was certain someone was inside.
If someone was Home,, why would the door still be locked?
Mario Yuno found it odd and surveyed the Villa's structure. The walls had anti-theft measures, but that was no obstacle for Mario Yuno. He climbed over the exterior wall, took some effort to bypass the infrared alarm system, and easily made his way into the yard.
Such Villas would normally have magnetic sensors on the doors. Without any Tools in hand to sneak in silently, Mario Yuno noticed a window open on the second floor, so he set down his things and climbed in, all in one smooth motion.
He flipped in to find a European-style decorated bedroom without anyone inside. Mario Yuno was scanning the room when he heard voices outside. He swiftly hid behind the curtains, and as the door opened, someone came in.
“Where would the Old Man Joel usually hide his stuff? He's not here now, so hurry up and tell me so I can search for it!”
The young man who entered had a voice that was vaguely familiar to Mario Yuno, but he couldn't remember where he had heard it. However, he became wary at the content of the conversation.
“Nonsense! If he were home, would I be asking you where he hid his things? While he's out, I'll just steal them and run–where can he find me then?”
The person was quite brash, seemingly talking to someone on the phone.
