Chapter 1239: Chapter 1211: The Arrival of the Food God Chapter 1239: Chapter 1211: The Arrival of the Food God “Oh no, what should I do, I'm so worried, the child won't have any problems, right?” Yuki Stone's face turned pale with fear. She had just been soothed by Mrs. Kiara, was in a great mood, and felt hungry, so she ate 3 Early Spring Peaches in one go, and then her stomach began to hurt.
“It's okay, I'm here, don't be scared!” Zenith Kyan said as he hugged her and got her into the car. Actually, he was more scared than anyone, and Mario Yuno pressed the accelerator to rush them to the hospital.
After they left, Kiara and Yuki Stone's mother carried the maternity bag downstairs. Kiara drove her own car to follow, but she encountered red lights all the way, so she arrived a bit later than Mario Yuno.
They were almost at the hospital when she received a call from Mario Yuno.
“Kiara, could you go to the nearby Congee House and buy a bowl of congee and get two Tea Eggs?”
“Huh?”
“Yuki Stone wants to eat, she's hungry.” Mario Yuno and the others had already arrived at the hospital and the canteen was closed by then.
“What did the doctor say?”
“Said there's some spotting, but we still have to wait a while. She's lying in the ward, it's not certain she'll give birth today. Yuki Stone said she's hungry, afraid she won't have the strength to give birth.”
“Then I'll go buy it!”
Kiara and Mrs. Stone bought a bunch of food, and the private room was already reserved so they could stay immediately upon arrival. Yuki Stone lay on the bed, Zenith Kyan anxiously pacing around. When he saw Kiara arrive, he hurried over, took the food, and began feeding Yuki Stone.
“Why am I so hungry? I feel like I haven't eaten in hundreds of years,” Yuki Stone said as she ate.
The nurse came every once in a while to check on the fetal heartbeat, ready to perform a caesarean section if there were any abnormalities.
“Eat more if you want to,” Zenith Kyan was terrified, carefully feeding Yuki Stone, who kept talking while she ate.
“Look! Don't anger me in the future, or I'll end up having the child from getting upset! Once the child is born, you can get me mad, but once the child is no longer in my stomach, getting angry will only result in farts, suffocating you to death!”
“Yes, yes, you're right, I'm wrong, my dear daughter-in-law, I was wrong,” Zenith Kyan didn't dare to contradict her and quickly agreed with her.
Mrs. Stone was both worried and amused. “You two are grown-ups, yet you act so silly over small things!” She turned to thank Kiara and her husband with gratitude.
“You two have been troubled enough. You might as well go back, the doctor said she might not give birth tonight.”
“But she's already spotting, how can it not be certain she'll give birth?” Kiara had read quite a few books, but none mentioned this.
“This is very normal. She spotted first but her water hasn't broken, so there's probably still some waiting to do. She's just being spooky for no reason. No worries, the doctor checked her and everything is fine,” Mrs. Stone was experienced and was reassured by the doctor's words. They had found a specialist, so there could be no mistake.
“Then we'll go back for now, and come again early tomorrow morning. Yuki Stone, what do you want to eat in the morning?”
“Soup-filled Steamed Buns, Sesame Sauce Braised Dish, roast chicken, peaches! And get me some chocolate; I'm afraid I won't have the strength when I'm giving birth.”
“…How could you possibly not have the strength after eating so much?” Kiara had never seen Yuki Stone eat this much, as if she was trying to gain back all the weight she lost from morning sickness during her pregnancy.
“Isn't that what the child wants to eat? I've figured it out, actually, my child might be the reincarnation of the Food God, really! You see how I could vomit so much during pregnancy, that shows the little one is picky, and those hard-to-eat things couldn't please him. Now that he's about to come out, I'm this hungry. The most important thing is, this child respects his mother, ah.”
Yuki Stone looked proudly at Zenith Kyan, who was circling around her, not daring to breathe. Heh, let's see if he dares to get mad at her in the future!
This time he was genuinely scared into being compliant. This child had a talent for picking times, specifically choosing the moment when his parents were upset to make his entrance, allowing Yuki Stone to utterly dominate Zenith Kyan.
Zenith Kyan now didn't dare say anything, feeling guilty and sorry for his daughter-in-law, worried that Yuki Stone's condition might be because he had been irresponsible and angered her, causing her to go into labour. So at this moment, whatever Yuki Stone asked him to do, he did.
Kiara shook her head at Mario Yuno; this joyously clashing duo was always so lively.
As Kiara was walking out, she heard Yuki Stone say to Zenith Kyan,
“Our child is the Food God in the flesh. Why do you have such a long face, Food God's father? The child brings good fortune with him. Ever since he arrived, we reconciled–that's wonderful, isn't it? It's like being blessed with good fortune.”
Zenith Kyan felt a warmth in his heart and a heat in his eyes. He could tell that Yuki Stone was trying to persuade him not to feel guilty. She knew what was on his mind–fearing that it was their argument that had caused the child to be born.
Kiara smiled knowingly. Who said her best friend was clueless like a child? At the crucial moment, she actually understood things quite clearly.
Zenith Kyan held Yuki Stone's hand, “Wife, you've worked hard. I won't ever upset you again.”
This one time was enough for Zenith Kyan to remember for a lifetime. Just as Yuki Stone said, the timing of the child's arrival was too perfect–it scared his father straight. And it didn't just scare his father, but also frightened his boss, Camden Yuno.
As Kiara and Mario Yuno were walking out, Kiara was pondering how to turn the page on their quarrel. Then, she glanced aside, and Mario Yuno was gone.
A fire that had just settled in Kiara's heart flared up again. Where had that guy run off to? Did he intend to keep up the cold war with her even after things had been sorted out? Did he not want to see her at all?!
You, Camden, are quite something!
Unable to find Mario Yuno, Kiara was very irritated and just about to explode when she saw him running out from the supermarket within the Hospital, carrying a bottle of water in his hand.
“Thirsty? Have some water,” he offered.
Kiara huffed, took the water, and he, seeing an opportunity, promptly followed her closely.
After the ordeal of Yuki Stone giving birth, the couple had forgotten about their squabble. Kiara felt that arguing was quite a pointless behavior. She wanted to call a truce but thought that, after the harsh words he previously said, settling it with just a bottle of water was letting him off too cheaply.
So, she pushed the water back at him, “I'll have the Master buy it for me. Didn't you say I was getting too close to him? Now I'll prove it!”
Having said that, she made a show of walking away, but Mario Yuno quickly grabbed her, holding her small hand with a serious expression.
“Why are you looking for him?”
“It was you who said I was getting too close to other men and even suspected there was a problem with my lifestyle!”
“That's not what I meant. I just felt that he… he's a bit too nice to you. If there's a fault, it's his, not yours!”
Mario Yuno couldn't afford to be jealous now; he was just afraid if he didn't relent, his daughter-in-law would suddenly go into labor like Yuki Stone–in her underwear, no less. But Yuki was full term, and his own was not so far along–it was simply not worth the aggravation.
Kiara caught on immediately–it must be the argument between Yuki Stone and Zenith Kyan that had bothered Camden. Feeling secretly delighted, she seized the opportunity to climb onto the bandwagon.
“You men are quite something, daring to oppose us when your wives are pregnant. You think you're so tough, huh? You're the one who slammed the door and left. Come on, try leaving like that again–I dare you!”
“It was clearly you who drove me out…” Mario Yuno muttered under his breath, but as Kiara glared at him, he quickly changed his tune.
“Even if you drive me out, I won't leave! What if I cling to the door frame and refuse to go, is that not enough?”
“Hmph!”
Kiara's anger subsided a little, but she still felt it wasn't enough. Having always been a bit sensitive, and now with pregnancy making her even more so, she sulked and refused to speak to him.
