Chapter 1220: Chapter 1192: Yuzo Joel Caught Off Guard (Author Flings Dog Food Four Updates) Chapter 1220: Chapter 1192: Yuzo Joel Caught Off Guard (Author Flings Dog Food Four Updates) Kiara was slowly chipping away at the other party's psychological defenses. Noticing that they were unmoved, she didn't rush. She believed that this person, having acted alongside Grace Bradford, must be more than just an insignificant lackey. The other two seemed clueless, so as long as she could pry open this person's mouth, the rest would be easy.
“Actually, Elizabeth Bradford also revealed something to me. You're already considered an expendable pawn. The Organization has abandoned you. After you were caught, no one will come to save you like they did for Elizabeth. You're still foolishly taking the blame for others; are you content with that?”
Kiara was attacking his psychological needs. She had first probed what his psychological weak spot was. Upon learning that his child and family were his vulnerabilities, she began to sow discord, making him harbor resentment towards his scheming backers. This would evoke a sense of abandonment, which, from a psychological standpoint, triggers a feeling of loss. Such feelings of loss would cause him anxiety and panic, leaving his psychological needs unfulfilled. At times like this, his longing for his previous vulnerabilities would only deepen.
When he realized he had been abandoned by the Organization, he would instinctively seek the shelter of home, desiring a safe haven for himself. Kiara, the psychologist, had thoroughly understood everyone's psychological baseline.
Seeing him begin to waver, Kiara steered the conversation back.
“Every little boy must climb a mountain called 'father,' and I'm sure it's the same for your son. Don't you want to see your own son during your long years behind bars? I can promise you this: meet my demands, and I'll bring your son to visit you regularly.”
“My father can do the same!”
“It's not hard to do, but it's not easy to do it well, right? The psychology of a little boy is very delicate. He will feel inferior knowing you're in prison, which will affect his future. Do you know the consequences for a child who feels inferior? Social phobia, reclusiveness, oversensitivity–such a child will have a hard time integrating into society. Your prison term will have an end, but could you bear to see an unhealthy son when you come out? People live for the basics–eating, drinking, relieving themselves, clothing–and we all need something to strive for. Your life might be over, but your son's is just beginning.”
“You're despicable, using a child to threaten someone!”
Kiara shrugged, “I'm just analyzing your child's future from a doctor's perspective. Cooperating with me is your only option now. I may not be a good person, but I keep my word. Why do you think Grace Bradford entrusted her father to me?”
Seeing his psychological defenses starting to crumble, Kiara pressed harder, contrasting his abandonment by his accomplices with Grace Bradford's selfless act to save her. She used the presence of the child to fill his inner void. Step by step, her arguments were linked and targeted straight at the heart.
Those watching through the monitor witnessed a person, who had been absolutely resistant, gradually change their attitude under Kiara's relentless psychological assault over the course of an hour, and they all looked on with reverence.
“Captain Yuno, I really wish Dr. Clark could become our external support,” the Chief of Major Crimes said sincerely. Having someone like Kiara on board would greatly improve their work efficiency.
“No,” Mario Yuno firmly refused, “My daughter-in-law is pregnant. If it weren't for the special circumstances, she wouldn't have been involved at all. You see her ease at work, but every word she speaks is purposeful and strategic. It's taxing on the brain.”
Hearing this, the others could only look on with envy, but the Chief of Major Crimes was persistent.
“Then, when Dr. Clark is less busy, could we at least have her come and teach us some negotiation and interrogation skills?”
“We'll see. It's up to her to decide,” said Camden. Although he was proud of his daughter-in-law's abilities, he would never make promises on her behalf.
After an hour, the attitude of William Green had relaxed a bit, but he still refused to name the mastermind.
But Kiara was confident. If this went on for another three sessions, she was sure she could pry his mouth open with a few more psychological attacks.
She was ready to boil the frog slowly, but someone else was already impatient.
As Kiara walked out of the interrogation room, intending to tell Mario Yuno that she would come back tomorrow and that, according to the current trend, she was sure to get answers in three days, she was about to speak when suddenly she smelled a delicious food aroma.
“Who bought cake?” Kiara sniffed and felt hungry. The cake smelled so good.
“I did, Kiara. Long time no see,” Yuzo Joel said as he walked in, holding a cake box, with the Director by his side.
“Professor Joel?” Kiara was quite surprised to see him.
Mario Yuno noticed that Kiara now addressed Yuzo Joel differently, with a lot more respect.
“Are you hungry? I brought you a cake, eat something, and here's some warm milk,” Yuzo Joel said naturally, offering the food with a smile.
Before the food could reach Kiara's hands, Mario Yuno smoothly took it, “Thanks, I just happened to be a bit thirsty.”
He opened the milk and took a sip; it was warm and didn't smell strange.
Yuzo Joel looked at Kiara like this:
^_^
And he looked at Camden like this:
==
The Qing Dynasty has been extinct for so long, where did this eunuch testing poison for his princess come from?!
Seeing that the milk was fine, Mario Yuno passed it to Kiara, “Kiara, drink it while it's warm, you've worked hard for so long.”
“Thanks, Husband~”
Yuzo Joel felt as if he'd been struck by lightning. Hey! I brought that for you, why are you thanking this poison-testing eunuch?!
“Thank you as well, Professor Joel.”
Yuzo Joel's mood immediately brightened at the polite response, saying cheerfully, “You're welcome. Aka told me you were here, and I was worried you might be hungry after being here so long, so I brought it for you.”
The cake box was exquisitely fancy, and Kiara could tell it was from a place where you'd normally have to queue for a long time; she felt a bit embarrassed–it clearly wasn't something just brought on a whim.
“This woman is pregnant, and it's a tough time, especially in the early stages of pregnancy when nutrition is crucial. Staying here for so long, and certain people, as her husband, don't even think to prepare some food for her? And, Director, what's with the temperature in this place? It's cold without a jacket and too hot with one. If Kiara gets sick because of this, who's going to take responsibility?”
As soon as Yuzo Joel arrived, he made a bold statement, not only chiding Mario Yuno but also giving the Director a piece of his mind.
The Director felt wronged; it was like a silent suffering in his heart–they were in an office, not a sanatorium, and the heating was set to this standard temperature, wasn't it?
Mario Yuno was even more annoyed. Here he was, the legitimate husband, being criticized by some guy who popped out of nowhere, and this Yuzo Joel was a little too concerned about Kiara, wasn't he?
The more he thought about it, the more suspicious it seemed!
“Professor Joel, how come you're over here?” Kiara diverted the topic for Camden's sake. Mario Yuno's full attention had been on the interrogation; he couldn't be blamed for not preparing food for her, and she didn't want Yuzo Joel to continue making Mario Yuno feel guilty, so she interrupted.
“Ah, daughters never stay children for long…” Yuzo Joel felt a pinch in his heart seeing Kiara so protective of Mario Yuno, “I came over to help with your work.”
