Chapter 1215: Chapter 1187: Who Does the Dishes at Home (Extra for 2000+ Monthly Votes) Chapter 1215: Chapter 1187: Who Does the Dishes at Home (Extra for 2000+ Monthly Votes) “It's okay, Mom, get down and hide, and don't be scared of anything you see–it's all right.” Kiara comforted her mother, instructing her to lie down while she put the passenger's seat down for cover, and then moved to the front to search for Giorno's phone.
Her phone was dead.
She made an emergency call and without caring what the operator said, Kiara quickly reported their location and situation in one breath, then hung up–the men had already reached the front of the car, banging on the doors, demanding Kiara get out.
Kiara's mother was so frightened she didn't dare breathe heavily, while Kiara calmly redialed Edward Wheeler's number, thankfully, it wasn't busy this time.
“Camden, our car is being blocked by people–we are at…”
“Is there danger?!” Edward Wheeler had just learned that Grace Little Phoenix Bradford had been rescued and as he was on his way to the Maternal and Child Health Hospital, hoping to meet with Kiara, his heart shattered hearing that Kiara was in trouble again.
Kiara hadn't even had the chance to answer when Edward Wheeler heard a massive bang!
It sounded like breaking glass! Someone was smashing the car windows!!
“Kiara!!”
He screamed in agony, but the line went dead at the other end–Edward Wheeler had no idea what his daughter-in-law was facing, and his heart was racing with anxiety.
Driving by himself, having just split from his colleagues at work, he estimated Kiara's mentioned place wasn't too far–a mere two streets away. Thus, Camden floored the gas pedal, speeding towards the location, knowing he could arrive in less than five minutes at this pace.
But five minutes–so much could happen in five minutes! A few strong men with iron rods attacking a pregnant woman won't even need five minutes; one minute would be enough for disaster!
Kiara, wait for me!!
Edward Wheeler prayed ceaselessly in his heart, racing towards the scene.
“Get out of the car, you bitch!” yelled the men outside, continually bashing the car with the rods, making a muffled noise. The rear window glass was already shattered, and it was fortunate that Kiara had shielded her mother with the seat, or else the flying shards would have been unthinkable.
“Kiara, what do we do, what do we do…” Kiara's Mother cried in terror, “Maybe I should go out and let them beat me, plead with them to spare you–you're still carrying a child!”
“Don't go out!” At the moment, Kiara could only pray that Giorno's car was sturdy enough and that help would arrive soon.
Just as the men shattered the glass and reached in to grab Kiara's hair, suddenly, a weak hand appeared, clasping onto the wrist of one of the men.
“Benefactor, your hostility is too great, this is not good,” said a meek voice.
The one prepared to grab Kiara turned to see, next to him, a woman in sportswear had appeared out of nowhere. She was thin and not very tall, with above-average looks and tidy short hair, appearing to be just over thirty with eyes that seemed to see through the world, exuding a tremendous poise.
The thug tried to shake off this woman who seemingly came out of the blue but found his wrist in agonizing pain, unable to break free as if clamped in place.
“Let go!”
“If you proceed, you'll generate heavy karma. Creating violence benefits you not at all, so why not stop while you can?” Although the woman was dressed modernly, her mannerisms seemed otherworldly.
“Damn it, get lost!” Frustrated and ashamed, the man lashed out, together with his accomplices they swung their rods at the woman.
“Be careful!” Watching the scene unfold from the car, Kiara involuntarily winced for the woman who jumped in to help.
So slim and not very tall, how could she stand against these men?
Adding the one that came out from the car behind, there were a total of three men wielding iron rods, each burly and clearly trained.
Kiara really wanted the woman to get away quickly and not get involved in this mess, but there was no time for Kiara to shout any warnings, the woman was already dragged into it.
But to everyone's surprise, although the three men were all armed with weapons, not one of them could touch this woman. Her movements were swift, and her punches and kicks carried a ferocity that was completely at odds with her calm appearance.
“You young ones, all so hot-tempered, come, you two, clear your heads! You even dare to bully my apprentice, hitting you is letting you off light!”
Having said this, the woman grabbed the heads of two men, one in each hand, and then forcefully banged the heads of the two wrongdoers together, eliciting a loud thump, followed by their pitiful screams while clutching their foreheads in pain.
Good heavens, where did this fierce woman come from!
It was thought that three sturdy men would be more than enough to handle Emma Clark, but who knew that Yeremy Chevez would appear out of nowhere, displaying shockingly powerful combat skills, taking down two with ease.
The third man, holding an iron rod, moved behind the woman, raising his stick to strike her head, but before it could fall, he felt a sharp pain in his hand.
Turning around, there was Mario Yuno with a murderous look, gripping the man's wrist and kicking into the bend of his leg, causing the would-be attacker to kneel on the ground. Mario had driven at breakneck speed, arriving just in time to see Giorno's car smashed up and a woman fighting three men, and that's when he intervened.
Mario could feel that even if he hadn't stepped in, this woman wouldn't have fallen behind; she seemed to be handling it with ease.
Mario joined the woman in subduing the three men. Seeing the iron rods they were holding and feeling a surge of anger, he walked over and stomped hard on their hands. These claws were truly detestable. If it weren't for the help, his woman would have been in danger.
“Husband!”
Kiara got out of the car and seeing him felt like an eternity had passed.
Mario hadn't even had time to change out of his suit; he had come directly here.
Seeing Kiara made Mario's heart tremble. He hurriedly held her in his arms, gently stroking her hair.
“Were you scared? Your husband is late, I'm sorry you got frightened.”
“I'm fine, thanks to this lady's timely intervention. Just the car got smashed.” Kiara had been a bit scared, but by now, she was much calmer. Seeing Mario, she was fearless.
“Don't call me sister, that's not the right term. Hello, I'm Sonya Cornelle.”
That name…
Quite unique, Sonya Cornelle is the name of a type of poetry, it's my first time hearing someone with that name.
The woman, after speaking to Kiara and Edward Wheeler 'Bright Clarity', headed straight for the truck. Giorno was still tied up. She untied the ropes from Giorno's body and also removed the cloth stuffed in Giorno's mouth.
“Thank you, I'm Some Johnson. I'm ashamed that I couldn't be of any help and that a woman had to come to the rescue,” said Giorno.
Giorno was overwhelmed by guilt; he was just a weak scholar without much physical strength and was knocked out instantly, then had to watch Kiara and his stepmother in danger. The feelings of guilt and self-reproach were indescribable. Now seeing his benefactor untie the ropes, he quickly bowed in gratitude.
Sonya accepted his bow graciously, then cocked her head to the side to look at him, shaking her head as she did so.
“Tsk tsk, this Megrez Star, huh? The Megrez Star is supposed to influence literary fortune, and although I knew you were a scholar, I didn't expect you to be so weak. But perhaps weakness is good. You can't beat my apprentice. Hey, I'm asking you, who does the dishes in your house?”
