Chapter 1213: Chapter 1185 Deep Mother-Daughter Affection Moves the Heart Chapter 1213: Chapter 1185 Deep Mother-Daughter Affection Moves the Heart Kiara couldn't care less about what was happening at the moment; she was pushed down from this relatively safe passageway and caught a glimpse of the bloodied people trampled at the bottom of the stairs. A surge of nausea washed over her, so she hurriedly came down from that side and ran to the counter nearest to her. At this point, the clerks were all stunned, with no idea what to do in the face of such an unforeseen incident.
“Let me sit down for a moment.” Kiara entered the counter area and slumped into a seat.
Scared.
In fact, her choice of location was the wisest. After the stampede in the elevator, everyone rushed over there to help. The crowd was too large. If Kiara had run slower, she would definitely have been squashed.
The scene she witnessed the moment she came down haunted Kiara. If Grace Little Phoenix Bradford hadn't appeared out of nowhere, she might have ended up like those people, vomiting blood due to the crush.
Her child at that time…
Kiara touched her stomach, feeling nothing but after-fear at this point.
Outside, there was a cacophony of noise–screams, shouts of pain, cries of people coming to the rescue, all sorts of sounds mixed together. The elevator had stopped, but there seemed to be several injured people, though it was unclear to what extent.
“It's too horrible…” The clerk, having witnessed the scene, couldn't help but mutter in fear. They were at a luxury goods counter with strict rules not to abandon their post, or they would have run over to have a look too.
“Sis, are you alright? You're so lucky–if no one had pulled you out, that would have been terrifying.” The clerk said to Kiara.
People!
Kiara's mind finally caught up–Grace Bradford!
Struggling with weak legs, she stood up and looked back over there. The throng of people was teeming; where could she spot Grace Bradford?
Where exactly had she come from, where did she run off to, and how did she find and save herself? Kiara had no idea.
All she knew was that without Grace Bradford, it wouldn't just be the child in danger–it would have been dire for her as well.
After experiencing such a major accident, Kiara's legs were weak, and her heart thumped erratically. The crowd ahead was too dense to distinguish anyone. Just then, Kiara heard a booming voice pierce through the noisy crowd.
“My daughter! My daughter!!!”
A loud voice has the advantage of being heard amongst chaos. Kiara's mother always spoke loudly, and now, anxious, her voice was even louder. She clearly remembered seeing her daughter coming down from the Second Floor!
As Kiara descended the escalator, her mother caught a glimpse of her, then looked down to choose a gold lock for her grandchild. Seconds later, screams erupted, and she ran toward this side like a soul lost, her mind consumed with thoughts of Kiara.
Giorno was also terrified. He had accompanied Kiara's mother and Kiara out, never imagining they would encounter such a horrifying accident!
Following, they both ran this way.
The Market Mall was now in utter chaos; Kiara's mother, pale with fright, pushed through the crowd, desperately trying to surge forward.
Kiara quickly got up from behind the counter, “Mum, I'm here!”
Despite the short distance that separated the mother and daughter, Kiara's call was drowned out by the clamor. She could only watch as her mother, tearfully and like one possessed, plunged forward, not caring that she was being bumped into by others; Kiara also saw the tears of terror on her mother's face.
“Kiara, Kiara!” Kiara's mother pushed forward, but at that moment, the path ahead was impenetrably congested with onlookers and rescuers. The thought of her daughter being trampled and bleeding terrified her beyond words, and she cried out in anguish.
“Make way, my daughter is inside, my daughter! Kiara, Mum is coming!”
In such moments, a mother's heart is consumed only with the safety of her child. And it was this expression on Kiara's mother's face that Kiara would remember for a lifetime. It would also foreshadow the ultimate choice she would make, but that is a story for another time.
Kiara saw her mother rushing forward as if she had gone crazy, and tears welled up in her nose.
No matter how much she disliked her mother's nagging, at this moment her mother's concern for her was truly moving. Kiara burst out from behind the counter and squeezed through to the front, tugging at her mother's clothes.
By this time, Kiara's mother had already entered a state of frenzy. She saw that she couldn't get through the crowd and could only think of her daughter. Feeling someone tugging at her, she cried out without looking back, “Stop pushing, everyone! My daughter is in there! If anything happens to her, I won't want to live anymore!”
“Mum, I'm here, I'm fine!”
When Kiara was pulled down by Grace Little Phoenix Bradford, Kiara's mother had already seen that something had happened on the other side and was frantically running towards it. Due to the counter obstructing her view, she hadn't seen Kiara coming down from another place and thought Kiara was still inside.
Upon hearing Kiara's voice, her mother turned around, and upon seeing Kiara unharmed behind her, her mind didn't have the capacity to think deeper. She held on to Kiara's hand and urgently moved to the side. Giorno, who saw Kiara as well, felt a surge of joy and hurriedly escorted the mother and daughter out of the crowd to a relatively less crowded area. Kiara's mother trembled as she caressed Kiara's face, her own face wet with tears.
“Kiara… Kiara!”
“Here, Mum, I'm here.” Kiara cried too, responding several times to her mother's repeated calls.
Convinced that it was indeed her daughter and that Kiara was not hurt, Kiara's mother burst into tears and embraced Kiara, refusing to let go.
“My child! You've scared me to death!”
She had just thought that her child had been in an accident and didn't know what she had done, but she had instinctively rushed forward driven by a mother's love. Now, seeing her child unharmed, her tense nerves finally began to relax.
“I'm okay, Mum, I'm okay.” Kiara soothed her mother, not only to calm her mother but also to compose herself.
It was no wonder her mother was so scared, she herself had been terrified too.
Danger had struck in an instant, and she had narrowly escaped it.
Kiara's mother, after crying for a while with her daughter, finally calmed down and repeatedly ensured that Kiara was uninjured before she began to inquire.
“How did you get out? Was it not you whom I saw going down the stairs just now?”
“It was me… Mum, wait a second, I need to make a phone call.”
Kiara took out her phone to notify Camden.
She wasn't sure whether it was Grace Bradford who had helped her escape because it all happened so quickly and she was in extreme panic at the time. She couldn't be certain if it was her imagination or if Grace Bradford had genuinely broken out of prison.
When she called Mario Yuno, she was lucky that the call connected.
“Daughter-in-law, I'll be home soon, isn't that a surprise?” Camden's voice sounded very happy; it seemed he had finished work.
“Come back quickly! Your wife was almost gone just now!” Kiara's mother, still uneasy, hurriedly interjected from the side.
“What happened?!” Mario Yuno became anxious upon hearing this, as he was still in the car and unaware of what had happened.
“It's a long story… I wanted to ask you, where is Grace Bradford right now?”
Camden knew a lot of people and should be able to find out about this.
Kiara, not wanting to scare him, didn't tell the whole truth.
