Seeing Wen Li's tears, Ji Zeqiu's reason was completely gone, and he agreed without a second thought.

In the past, he had also told Wen Li that he would take her away from the Ji Family. But she always hesitated because of Ji Tingyang's threats and was unwilling to leave with him.

He tried to open his eyes to see who it was, but it felt as if his eyes were glued shut, unable to open them at all.

In a blurry haze, he felt someone applying a wet towel to his forehead, mumbling for him to wake up soon.

It felt so familiar…

When he was a child and often had fevers, his mother did the same, anxiously staying by his bedside all night, checking his forehead every few minutes, wishing for him to get better soon.

His heart filled with longing and warmth.

“Mom…”

His hand moved slightly, grasping that warm dream.

When he woke up again, Ji Zeqiu was already in the hospital.

“That's great, you're finally awake!” a sweet voice exclaimed joyfully.

Shen Qingtang stood in the hallway outside, the image of the woman she had seen in the room flashing through her mind, her face turning pale.

That woman… resembled her somewhat.

So they were together in the room now…

The more Shen Qingtang thought about it, the more her chest hurt, and eventually, she forgot how she had even left the hotel.

The first night Wen Li left Ji Mansion, Ji Tingyang did not notice.

The next day, Ji Tingyang seemed to finally remember her, calling her early in the morning. The ringtone sounded particularly impatient, breaking off and resuming over and over again.

After quite a while, Wen Li answered the phone slowly.

“Wen Li! Who gave you the audacity not to come home at night! Come back right this instant!”

Even through the phone, one could feel Ji Tingyang's raging fury.

Wen Li gripped her phone, resisting, “I don't want to go back.”

“You!”

“Anyway, you don't like me anymore, you didn't even notice I didn't come home. Since that's the case, please let me go.”

There was a moment of silence on the other end, then through gritted teeth, three words came out: “Don't you dare!”

Then the phone call was disconnected.

Wen Li hadn't yet figured out what he meant when another call came in.

It was her mother.

Keeping in mind that her mother worked at Ji's, a wave of unease rose within her.

“Lili, have you been fighting with President Ji recently?” her mother asked bluntly.

Wen Li: “What's wrong?”

“The HR department just suddenly informed your dad that he's being transferred to work in the western branch. It's remote and hard there, how can your father endure it? And after your father leaves, what am I supposed to do by myself? I know you have a good relationship with President Ji, could you possibly ask him to make an exception?” her mother pleaded frantically.

Wen Li instantly understood that Ji Tingyang was using her family to threaten her to return.
