 “Why would there be a river deep in the mountains? What river god?”

 “Um, I meant mountain god!”

The kid was not experienced in lying and already showing mistakes, making Junzhi doubt her story. He grabbed her braid, “hah, are you lying to me? What are you not telling me?”

 “No, nothing!” The girl shook her head briskly, while rushing Junzhi to leave. “We have to run, they’re catching up to us!”

 “I don’t know where to go yet.” Junzhi tilted his head and propped his chin, acting as if he was conflicted.

 “It doesn’t matter where we go, let’s just go!” The girl was so anxious she hopped on her feet. 

 “But which road do we take?” Junzhi kept dragging on.

The girl grew mad. “You outrageous citizen, I, the Princess, order you to leave right now. We need to leave the city of Sui right now!”

 “Princess?” Junzhi squinted his eyes and laughed evilly. “You really are a golden pig?”

Princess Butterfly huffed and backed up a few steps, bursting in tears. “You’re mean to me!....”

Junzhi didn’t care about her tirade. He didn’t let go of her braid, so she couldn’t run even if she wanted to. “How dare you lie to me? Listen, I’m not afraid if you’re a princess. The only people I’m afraid of in this world are my teacher and my older classmate Sister Bai. So what if you’re a princess? If you want to sell yourself, suit yourself. I’ll help you go be a nun on Mt. Ermei!”

 “I don’t want to go, I don’t want to go! You’re a meanie!” Hearing that she could be a nun, Butterfly weakened. She started throwing a tantrum on the ground.

 “If Princess didn’t want to be a nun, come with us. We’ll take you somewhere fun.” At that moment, a loud male voice came from the bridge on the lake. Junzhi looked up and saw a chubby man in black, he wore a mask and was followed by 10 smaller men who were dressed the same. They were looking at the two of them in a menacing way.

Junzhi snorted and made fun of Butterfly, “why would your family need to wear masks to get you back?”

Butterfly shouted, “they’re not from the Prince’s palace, they’re bad people!”

Junzhi looked dismissive. “Really? Bad people like me?”

 “No, real bad people!”

 “Oh, really? Are they worse than me, or not as bad as me?” Junzhi was still lost in his own story. As he cajoled the girl, he also whistled, just to make fun of the men on the bridge. But suddenly, an arrow headed toward him, right for his heart.

 “Whoa!” Junzhi dodged the arrow expertly, but his face changed colors a few times. He believed the girl now. “They’re bad people! If they want to ambush me, they’re worse than me!” He grabbed Butterfly and wanted to run toward the city. “They think we’re outnumbered, I better take you home!”

 “Wanna leave?” The leader, the chubby man, was a fierce one. His solid body actually flew very high when he jumped, instantly blocking Junzhi. His face was greasy as he laughed. “Kid, we just want the princess. If you’ll give her to us, we won’t hurt you at all!”

 “Really?” To be honest, Junzhi was tempted to leave. He had nothing to do with all this.
