Perfect Match, Secret Marriage Chapter 83 Falling In Love

Boring meetings, annoying paperwork, and incessant problems surrounded him. It was frustrating. He wanted to finish everything quickly so he could join Lu AnLing and Kang Mingyu. But for now, all Kang Jun did was sit at his desk reading over a stack of documents with a dark face.

Deep in thought, Kang Jun barely heard the knock at the door.

"Sir, your brother is calling." When Mr. Long entered the room, Kang Jun didn't even bother to look up to him.

"Ignore him."

Mr. Long began to sweat. "What if it's important?."

Kang Jun didn't reply, so Mr. Long was left to deal with it himself.

Kang Liang had called and texted him almost a hundred times since the Starlight Event. It had gotten so annoying that Kang Jun had been forced to block him.

All the boy would do was annoy him about convincing Lu AnLing to sign a contract with Halo Stars but that had nothing to do with Kang Jun. Either way, he didn't even know what he felt about her becoming a singer, so he wouldn't press her about it. If she truly wanted to do it with all her heart, Kang Jun knew that he didn't have the right to stop her but if she didn't know herself, he wasn't going to bring it up or force her.

There was another knock at the door, and once again, Mr. Long entered.

Kang Jun looked up to the man this time. He wore a complicated expression. "What is it now?"

"Ugh, it's the CEO of Halo Stars."

Hearing this, Kang Jun sighed and then picked up the phone. Once he saw his boss take it, Mr. Long bowed and then left the room.

"I hate it when people try to force my hand, Mo Yichen." Kang Jun's voice was one of total dominance.

Most people would tremble at the sound of it but Mo Yichen just laughed.

Kang Jun continued to work as he spoke to the man. "If this is about the girl and the contract, I don't want to hear it."

Mo Yichen laughed once more. "Don't worry. I'm not like Kang Liang. I'm not here to harass you."

Kang Jun raised an eyebrow.

"Then why are you calling me?"

Mo Yichen: " Just to check up on you... Oh, and also, I'd like to know what that girl is to you? Is she your friend? At first, I thought she was just another girl Kang Liang was going after but she seemed closer to you so, that doesn't seem to be the case…"

"None of your business."

On the other end of the line, Mo Yichen began to laugh. "Come on. Tell your big bro Chen what's going on?"

Kang Jun pinched the space between his eyebrows as his face quickly darkened. "Mo Yichen."

Hearing the malice in the man's voice, Mo Yichen stopped his joking. "I'm sorry. I'm just worried about you. But not only about you…"

Mo Yichen had seen the way Kang Jun treated the girl. It was easy to see what the man felt for her. A man in love could easily be spotted. Mo Yichen had been the same when he'd met his own wife.

If anyone else observed this, they would consider the girl to be the man's weakness and it wouldn't be good for either her or Kang Jun.

Mo Yichen sighed.

"Any man can fall in love but not many can protect the things they love. And, as for you, you're capable, but you've gained a lot of enemies Jun. Mostly after—"

Kang Jun: "I know."

"Just be careful and remember what I said." There was a pause for a moment and then Mo Yichen spoke again. "Also, my beautiful wife wants to invite you to dinner sometime soon. You should come. Maybe when our kid comes back home. What do you say?"

"I'll think about it."

To Mo Yichen that was practically a yes. "Good then! I'll contact you next time."

Mo Yichen hung up.

Finally, there was peace and quiet for Kang Jun to work. Though this only lasted for a small moment.

Suddenly, Kang Jun's personal phone began to buzz incessantly. Seeing the caller ID, Kang Jun began to glare at the phone, but he still picked it up.

"What is it?"

"Jun…" Elder Kang's voice was stiff and serious. The kind a person would have when they were discussing a will at a funeral.

"We need to talk. Come home."

Kang Jun pinched the bridge of his nose."Grandfather, it isn't a good time."

"If it's about the company I'll send Rong Yu to deal with it. I have certain things pertaining to the marriage contract to discuss with you."

Kang Jun was getting sick of his grandfather's attitude.

After his grandfather was done barking orders, the old man hung up. Hearing this, Kang Jun quickly called Rong Xin.

Rong Xin: "Yes sir?"

"Where are you?"

"At the shopping center. Little young master is in the changing room and the young miss is waiting for him."

Kang Jun: "Good. Take good care of them."

"I will, sir."

Kang Jun was about to inform them that he might not be able to bring them to dinner, but instead, he decided that he was just going to try his hardest to finish the business with his grandfather as soon as possible, so he could get back and finish his work.

He knew that his grandfather had said that Secretary Rong would handle the company problems but still, Kang Jun knew that, despite Secretary Rong being a smart man, when it came to Kang Corporations, there were certain thing's Kang Jun had to handle himself.

Pushing himself off his desk, Kang Jun sighed before he headed out the door.

Seeing the man exist his office, Mr. Long walked towards him.

"What's wrong sir?"

Examining Mr. Long, Kang Jun had a great idea.

Kang Jun: "Nothing. Take me to the Kang main house."

If Mr. Long was there he could find a way to end the conversation early and since Mr. Long was tasked to inform him whenever something important arised Kang Jun could use a small interuption as an excuse to leave. Yes. That was a good plan!

Seeing a look of satisfaction pass across Kang Jun's face, Mr. Long began to tremble.

"Sir… isn't it best if you go there alone?"

Kang Jun began to glare at the man. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but then he paused. Remembering words that Lu AnLing had said, Kang Jun took a deep breath before speaking.

"Take me to the Kang main house please."

As soon as those words materialized, Mr. Long couldn't help but open his eyes wide.

"Uh Yes...Of course!"

Kang Jun: "Thank you"

This was like the finishing blow. Hearing this, Mr. Long's jaw dropped. Quickly the man turned on his heels.

"I'll go get the car!"

Watching as Mr. Long ran towards the elevator door, Kang Jun raised an eyebrow. He never knew that the words 'please' and 'thank you' could cause such an effect.

He was considering saying it more often.

As Kang Jun stood in place pondering, Mr. Long had already entered the elevator. With a loud exhale, the man gathered all of his thoughts.

What had just come out of the man's mouth?! A, please?! A thank you?! That 'my pace and only my pace' kind of man just said please and thank you…

He had thought the man was completely devoid of manners!

Thinking back at it now, he remembered the words uttered by Lu AnLing the night of the Starlight Event.

This was all because of her…

The girl really was his goddess.

Mr. Long sincerely prayed that the girl would always be by Kang Jun's side. If she was, his life would always be much much brighter!

Lu AnLing had spent the whole day not knowing how much of an impact she had made on Mr. Long's life or how he had begun to permanently call her goddess.

One small thoughtless phrase. That was all it took for the girl to impact Kang Jun. If she had said those same words to anyone else, it would not have had the same effect.

But If anyone had told her the power she had over the man, would she believe them?

Probably not.

But as she sat in the back seat of the car with Kang Mingyu in her lap, Lu AnLing's mind slightly wandered to Kang Jun.

Despite Kang Mingyu and Lu AnLing deciding that they were going to go shopping, they didn't end up spending money. The only exception was when they both got so hungry they were forced to stop for hotpot, but still, Lu AnLing did not use Kang Jun's black card.

She was so afraid that she would lose it that she ended up spending the whole day constantly checking if someone had stolen it.

She could only imagine the consequences, but when her mind began to wander, she noticed that the man would probably pat her head and tell her it wasn't a big deal…

Lu AnLing's head throbbed lightly but it wasn't hurting enough for her to stop her train of thought.

Thinking of the man, she consciously patted Kang Mingyu's silky soft hair.

Kang Jun was a very special man and no matter if he was by her side or not, Lu AnLing's mind wandered towards thoughts of him. And after seeing Yang Yize, she couldn't help but compare and contrast the two.

The more she thought of this the more she noticed that Kang Jun was too amazing. He was incomparable to anyone she had ever met and she was glad that she was falling in love with him.

Wait…

'F-falling in love?'

Lu AnLing's mind lagged so badly she had to reboot herself.

Shaking her head, the girl gathered her thoughts before she turned to look at Rong Xin. Her mind and heart still lingered on Kang Jun but there was something she'd been dying to ask.

"What do you know about Rong Yue Wan?"
