He bowed to her and to the little boy.

"Hello Young Madame, Young Master."

Lu AnLing gave the man a polite 'hello' but she couldn't help but stare at him strangely.

Despite his stature, he was a fairly skinny man with delicate features. The more Lu AnLing looked at him, the more she felt that he looked so… breakable. Yet she could already assume that this man was supposed to be her bodyguard.

"This Rong Xin," Kang Mingyu gave the introduction.

Though hearing the man's name caused Lu AnLing's face to twist.

"Rong?"

At first, Kang Mingyu wasn't sure why she had reacted to that but when he remembered what the day his grandfather visited, his face went pale.

When the boy had seen the girls confused face, he knew he had to step up. He understood the girl's concerns. When he'd first met Rong Xin he had been with Kang Jun and Mr. Long. That day, Mr. Long had raised the same concerns he could feel radiating from his auntie.

"He's not related to Rong Yue Wan."

Hearing this, Lu AnLing couldn't help but smirk. This boy was something else. He quickly noticed the misunderstanding that was ensuing.

Looking at the two, Rong Xin couldn't help but give the pair a strange gaze. He didn't understand what was going on, but the atmosphere between Kang Mingyu and Lu AnLing was not what the man had expected.

"Young master is right. The resemblance in our names is just a coincidence. Young Miss Rong and I have no relation whatsoever."

The fact that that he had called her 'young miss Rong' had made Lu AnLing think otherwise but, seeing that both boy's had misunderstood she sighed.

Lu AnLing wasn't jealous. She was just making an obvious observation.

It didn't matter who Kang Jun had been engaged to. In fact, he had made it clear that he only liked her…

The man's confession made its way to her ears once more. Getting slightly flustered, Lu AnLing tried to hide it with a frown. This caused the two boys to misunderstand her even more.

"L-let's just go." Lu AnLing said, trying to get the man's voice out of her head.

Quickly, the three made their way downstairs, but before Lu AnLing and Kang Mingyu were able to leave Hotel Helios, Lu AnLing had some business to attend to.

Leaving Kang Mingyu with Rong Xin, Lu AnLing headed straight to the lounge. Inside, Madame Liu was talking to the bartender with a sour look on her face.

Reluctantly, Lu AnLing approached the woman. Lu AnLing waited for a small while until the woman and the man had stopped talking and then she approached.

"Madame Liu?"

Madame Liu turned to the voice. Her eyes were completely devoid of all emotion, but when she saw the girl, she became less hostile and smiled politely.

"Hello Miss Lu. I'm glad you came."

Lu AnLing reached out to shake the woman hand. "Yes. Thank you for having me."

Quite satisfied with Lu AnLing's manner, the woman gave her hand a squeeze.

"No, my dear. I'm glad you answered back. I'm sorry that I couldn't meet you this week. We have a special event coming up in a few months and I've been busy making preparations. I hope you understand."

Lu AnLing smiled and waved her hand. "Yes. Completely."

Hearing this, Madame Liu turned away with a smile of satisfaction. The woman didn't give any signal, but Lu AnLing followed behind the woman as she checked a couple of things.

Lu AnLing: "I would like to know when you'd like me to begin…?"

Madame Liu turned back to the girl. "For now, I have someone under contract to be the replacement. Her contract expires this week. So sometime this week I'll be sending you a message. When you receive it, come."

Lu AnLing nodded her head in understanding.

"Also, please do be punctual. I make no exceptions and take no excuses."

Hearing this, a chill went down Lu AnLing's spine. There was a knowing in Madame Liu's voice. This caused Lu AnLing to wonder if the woman had found out what had happened in her old job.

Lu AnLing took a moment to stare at the woman who began to walk away before she spoke.

"I understand."

She couldn't screw up this job.

Leaving the lounge, Lu AnLing's mind was a bit of a mess but she still managed to eliminate all her worries from her mind before she joined with Kang Mingyu. Taking his hand, they both walked out of the hotel.

Once outside, the hot wind hit their faces. It was refreshing, and both the girl and the boy smiled childishly.

Rong Xin: "Wait here, I'll go get the car."

Lu AnLing waved the man off with a smile.

At the entrance of Hotel Helios, Lu AnLing and Kang Mingyu chatted with their hands intertwined when suddenly, a man spoke.

"I didn't know you had a child."

Turning to the side, Lu AnLing saw Yang Yize approached them through bulging eyes. He was wearing a smile but he radiated darkness.

"So… who's the father?"

For days Yang Yize had wandered around the hotel trying to see if he could bump into Lu AnLing and for a whole week, the man had had no such luck.

When he had seen her walk into the lounge, Yang Yize thought that it was his lucky day but as he glanced at the girl, hand in hand with her son, he assumed, Yang Yize felt as if it was hard to breathe.

Lu AnLing looked at Yang Yize with a glacial stare, but internally she was freaking out.

Why was this man always at Hotel Helios?

Because of his appearance, she was beginning to wonder if she should find a way to move out.

"Lu AnLing,"

The man was now standing in front of her.

Hearing him call out her name, Lu AnLing's heart tightened. She no longer loved this man. She knew that for sure. However, she hadn't heard him call out to her in so long that a lingering familiarity triggered something within her.

Lu AnLing had loved the man standing in front of her. She had loved him with all her heart. He had been her everything.

If she was the girl she'd been all those years ago, she could sincerely believe that she would have broke when she'd found out that he was getting married.

Back then, Lu AnLing was foolish. She had given her whole heart to the man but he had just ended up stepping all over it.

"Y-Yang Yize, what do you want?"

Yang Yize stared at the woman."I asked you a question."

'So?' Lu AnLing bunched up her fist and frowned. Her grip slightly tightened on Kang Mingyu's hand but she tried her best to hold back. She didn't want to hurt the boy.

"And I'm not going to answer."

Lu AnLing walked past the man, but before she could leave he tried to grab her hand. Unluckily for Lu AnLing, Rong Xin had witnessed the whole situation. Seeing that the woman he had been tasked to protect was in trouble, he grabbed Yang Yize's hand violently and squeezed hard before he immediately let go.

"Ow!" Yang Yize yelped out in pain. "Who the hell are you!?"

Looking at Lu AnLing, Rong Xin gestured her to the black Volkswagen. Lu AnLing picked up Kang Mingyu and made her way towards it without looking back.

Kang Mingyu who peered at Yang Yize, as he rested his head on the girl's shoulder, gave the man the most glacial stare he could muster. It was almost on par with Kang Jun's

Seeing this, Yang Yize felt his whole body shiver and his heart tighten slightly.

So it was her child? And she trusted this man enough to follow his orders blindly?

Turning to look at the tall man, Yang Yize frowned. "Who are you? Her boyfriend?"

Rong Xin didn't say a word. He just gave the man a look of disdain before he made his way to the car.

"You're not special… that girl doesn't know how to love…" Yang Yize muttered.

Despite hearing the man's words, Rong Xin didn't react. He just kept walking.

This angered Yang Yize deeply.

Watching as the black car drove away, Yang Yize felt a pang in his chest.

The man hadn't wanted his first encounter with the girl to go so wrong, but he couldn't help the way he acted. Surely, the man had loved the girl all those years ago. He loved her so much that he had almost wanted to marry her, despite hating the idea of being tied down. But then she betrayed him… and because she had done that, he had done the same to her.
