"Cousin Xia?"

Lu Xia who had been standing there for a moment in complete confusion smiled happily hearing her name come from Lu AnLing's mouth.

"I didn't know you were back…" Lu Xia said with a sigh as she approached Lu AnLing with open arms.

Hugging her cousin tightly, Lu Xia couldn't help but squeal. "It's been so long!" Then she let go of the girls and examined her from top to bottom.

For a moment, Lu AnLing was slightly disoriented. Though who wouldn't have been after being attacked and suffocated by boobs. Thinking back for a second, she thanked God that her makeup was waterproof and smudge proof or else she would have left a mark on Lu Xia's chest.

Lu AnLing was not too short, but she wasn't tall either, even in heels, but the woman who stood in front of her had the stature of a model. Right now, in heels, Lu AnLing could see that Lu Xia stood at the same height, or maybe even slightly taller, as Kang Jun.

As Lu Xia examined her cousin, her eyes stopped to gaze at Lu AnLing's pouty lips. "Damn girl, you look so sexy! If I was a guy I would find it hard to contain myself!"

Listening to Lu Xia speak as if they were in their own world, Lu AnLing sighed. The girl was as boisterous as ever.

Lu AnLing smiled slightly, she was about to laugh and start a conversation with her cousin, but, feeling eyes on her, she turned to look around. Because of the tall girl's extravagant appearance and loud voice, many had begun to stare at them.

Lu AnLing cursed herself for forgetting her surroundings.

Looking at Manager Hong, Lu AnLing used her eyes to apologize.

"Xia Xia, I need to go. I'm working. Let's talk some other time."

Hearing this, Lu Xia began to pout.

Manager Hong who had been watching the whole scene looked at the two in shock. Side by side both girls looked like goddesses.

One wore a beautiful crimson dress that draped beautifully on her body, with accents of silver, showcasing her dignity and grace, while the other wore a two-piece ensemble with an embroidered cerulean bandeaux and matching high-rise palazzo pants. Their features were alike and their aura's shone brighter beside one another.

Manager Hong couldn't turn away.

Seeing the strange glint in Manager Hong's eyes, Lu Xia reached over to grab Lu AnLing by the shoulder. Their dresses were completely different colors but together, they both complimented each other well.

In the room of beauties, Manager Hong couldn't deny that these two had a type of spark about them. Her discerning eye couldn't be wrong!

And as much as it pained the woman to admit it, they actually made Ning Jie pale in comparison.

Turning to look at Lin Li and Ning Jie, Manager Hong couldn't help but sigh. Their expressions were mostly unchanged but deep inside the eyes of both girls there was a type of annoyance, and a slight bit of envy.

Seeing this, Manager Hong began to feel bad for Lu AnLing, so she put her hand on the girl's shoulder and said, "It's okay. Spend some time with your cousin, then meet us inside."

Lu AnLing was hesitant for a minute but since she had the permission of Manager Hong, the girl had no reason to refuse.

Leading her cousin like she was a princess, Lu AnLing stepped aside as the three girls left to enter the ballroom. Once alone, Lu AnLing put her hands on her hips.

"What are you doing here?" She didn't ask in a mean way. She was just very curious.

Knowing her cousin well, Lu Xia just smiled and the answered her quickly. "My husband, he's a super famous fashion designer, and he got invited so brought me along as his plus one."

Lu AnLing's eyes widened slightly.

"You got married?"

Remembering what she'd just said, Lu Xia's face paled for a split second but she was quickly able to regain her composure. She then waved both hands in front of Lu AnLing's face.

Lu AnLing couldn't help but spot the big blue diamond on her cousins ring finger.

"No, no, no!" a crimson blush appeared on her face, almost matching her lipstick shade, "I call him my husband… but we're… just... I don't know, dating-ish?"

Lu AnLing raised an eyebrow. "Dating-ish? Then what's that ring then? Just a prop?"

From first glance, Lu AnLing might have seemed like she was several years younger than Lu Xia but by their interactions, Lu AnLing showed a slight dominance over the girl. Lu Xia was like a child being dominated by her elder sister.

Lu Xia began to giggle awkwardly.

"Bingo! My guy and I like to see how many people would still approach us even if we're 'married'. It's just for fun you know?"

Lu AnLing didn't know.

She couldn't understand that at all. Actually, the words mentioned by Lu Xia made her utterly confused.

Though, this was normal.

The way Lu Xia was made many people wonder what was wrong with her. Sometimes, Lu AnLing would wonder the same but since Lu Xia always seemed happy, she never bothered to say anything about it.

Though, because of her strange personality and promiscuous ways, Grandma Lu had no faith in Lu Xia's future relationships. She believed that whoever it was the girl dated, it would not turn into anything more than friends with benefits.

"Anyway! Enough of that! You look so beautiful today AnLing Jie, who are you here to impress?"

"Don't call me that!"

Lu Xia began to pout. "Awe, why not? You don't like being my Jie Jie?"

"Shut up…"

Lu AnLing began to massage her temple pleadingly. She actually didn't mind being called that but it felt strange coming from Lu Xia's mouth.

Lu AnLing might have been the eldest of all her cousins, but not by much. She was only one month older than her cousin Lu Jiayi and one day older than Lu Xia.

"Fine, fine, fine! Though, seriously, why are you here? Did you find yourself a good-looking rich man while you were abroad?"

Good-looking rich man...

That sounded familiar.

Lu AnLing fought back a blush. "What nonsense are you spewing! I just told you that I was here for work."

Lu Xia paused for a second and thought back. "Ahaha, that's true."

"Did you become more of an idiot since I left?" Lu AnLing said with a laugh.

Lu Xia: "Rude much? Don't make me drive to the Lu main house and get both of our report cards."

Lu AnLing laughed. "Not that kind of idiot, idiot."

Catching her cousin's drift, Lu Xia crossed her arms and began to fake pout. "For your information when I get off work and I'm not home learning, I put my brain and heart on autopilot. It's the best way for me to enjoy life."

"Hmmm, really?" Lu AnLing couldn't help but giggle.

"Really, really! Geez. Also, for your information, I completed three surgeries today, thank you very much! How dare you insult me like that. If my coworkers heard you they'd probably want to die. If I'm an idiot then what would they be?"

Lu AnLing exploded into laughter.

Thinking back at her time in the Lu house. Lu AnLing was kind of sad she didn't get to spend many years with Lu Xia. She'd only gotten to befriend her when she was 18 because Lu Xia had been abroad.

Despite her appearance and strange personality, Lu Xia was very intelligent. Not only compared to her siblings and cousins but compared to the majority of the country.

At 14 years old the girl had completed her whole high school education and was on her way to finishing her first university degree abroad. Back then, she was in the technology field, and after finishing that she got herself a medical degree.

Her aim was to become a top surgeon.

Gazing at her cousin, Lu AnLing was glad that she was invited to the event, even if it was under strange circumstances…

As time went by slowly, many people entered the venue and made their way into the ballroom, once the two cousins realized that there weren't many people outside, they began to make their way to the door, but they froze in their tracks when they heard a man call.

"Miss Lu?"

Both Lu Xia and Lu AnLing turned on their heels, unsure about who the man was calling to.

Seeing his suit, Lu AnLing's eyes narrowed and her jaw stiffened.

What was he doing here?
