Perfect Match, Secret Marriage Chapter 142 The Man Who Fathered Lu AnLing's Children

Seeing who was calling him, Kang Jun bore no facial expression. He answered the phone coolly and then he leaned back into his chair. By then, he had dismissed Mr. Long so that Kang Mingyu would be kept busy, so the pair weren't in the room.

"I have some news, it's about your girlfriend!" Chong Feng said in a gossipy voice but he didn't sound happy like the housewives usually did.

"What is it?" Kang Jun said, not correcting Chong Feng's choice in words.

Chong Feng: "Well ones more shocking than the other..."

Kang Jun pinched the space between his eyebrows. He didn't understand why everyone who surrounded him couldn't get to the point. When it came to Lu AnLing, Kang Jun didn't mind. In fact, he found it adorable, but when it came from anyone else, it annoyed him.

"Spit it out." Kang Jun said icily.

Chong Feng's laughed dryly. "Okay, got it... So, first I saw Lu AnLing having a talk with Qiao Lan. I don't know what there were talking about but they were both in the cafeteria and they were smiling and it was really creepy."

Kang Jun paused for a second.

The two bumping into each other wasn't shocking since both Qiao Lan and Lu AnLing had grandparents in the hospital but he found it suspicious that Qiao Lan would talk to Lu AnLing so out in the open like that.

Kang Jun knew that, in Qiao Lan's eyes, Lu AnLing was a lesser being. This was due to Lu AnLing's lack of status so he couldn't understand what the vile woman was doing.

He would need to inquire with Lu AnLing when he got home.

"And?" Kang Jun said after a while.

"And I have this doctor friend who told me that... Uh..." Chong Feng wasn't saying anything. It was like he was gathering his thoughts.

Kang Jun frowned.

"Speak."

"Well, she gave birth..."

"So?" Kang Jun said quickly and matter-of-factly.

He half contemplated hanging up on Chong Feng's face for thinking he would care about such a thing.

"I'm not finished." Chong Feng sighed. "My friend, Doctor Su, she was one of the nurses in charge of Lu AnLing back then and my father was the doctor who delivered her babies—"

Chong Feng continued to speak for a while but then, Kang Jun cut him off.

"Did you just say, babies?"

Kang Jun had only been half listening to the man because he thought that no pertinent information would come out of Chong Feng's mouth, but he was wrong.

Ching Feng: "Yes, she gave birth to twins... for some reason I thought you'd be more shocked by the fact that my father delivered her children..."

Old Chong was specialized in cardiology after all. Why would a cardiologist deliver babies?!

"As a family who live to serve the Kang family as our personal medical practitioners, if there was anything Chong Wei didn't know, then my grandfather would surely force him to learn it." Kang Jun said matter-of-factly. Easily coming up with an excuse so Chong Feng wouldn't suspect anything sinister.

On the other end of the line, Chong Feng couldn't help but laugh dryly. "Fine, but—"

"Continue your story." Kang Jun cut Chong Feng off once more.

On the other end of the line, Chong Feng was exasperated but instead of losing his temper, he just bit into his cheek and continued to speak.

Chong Feng: "It seems like Miss Lu got her children taken away. Like taken away by force. Neither she nor her family signed adoption papers and Miss Lu ended up waking up prematurely after giving birth and confronting another nurse in charge about it and she got restrained… anyways, I don't need to explain how that turned out, but the strange part was, when Doctor Su asked my father about it he said that it was out of his hands and then a day later she was transferred to another hospital…"

Kang Jun was angry. Hearing about what happened back then made his heartbreak... so, beginning to lose his patience.

Kang Jun: "Your point is?"

"My point is, that just before she was transferred she stole a copy of a paternity test done on Miss Lu's children. You want to know what it said?"

Chong Feng didn't pause for dramatic effect, he was genuinely worried about how Kang Jun would react after hearing the news but after a moment of silence, Chong Feng cleared his throat and said,

"The man who fathered Lu AnLing's children was Kang Zhi."

When he heard this, Kang Jun held his breath.

Kang Jun: "Are you sure?"

At the end of the line, Chong Feng nodded his head.

"Positive... Doctor Su wouldn't lie to me." Chong Feng's voice was weak when he said this, but as he continued on, his voice became more and more firm. "I don't know how this could be possible or even how the two met, but Doctor Su still has the file. She told me she would bring it to me. Not the original copy though… she doesn't trust me completely because of my dad. Women are scary... she even told me that she had measures put into place that if she died or disappeared by some strange circumstances, an acquaintance of hers would spread it and then give it to media outlets…"

Kang Jun sighed. "Got it. Make sure this information doesn't spread and get me the copy."

Kang Jun was about to hang up but then, Chong Fend suddenly spoke again.

Chong Feng: "Kang Jun, I don't want to meddle but, I know you like Miss Lu… and you and I both know that if Qiao Lan finds out about this, Lu AnLing will die."

Hearing this, Kang Jun's heart palpitated hard and his throat became dry. He knew of the possibilities...

Kang Jun: "She won't die. I'll make sure of that."

"But she gave birth to the future heirs of the Kang family… something that even Qiao Lan wasn't able to do. Those kids…" Chong Feng stopped speaking for a second, "You don't think that Miss Lu's kids are Mingyu and Mei Xue do you?! I think I heard Doctor Su say that they were fraternal twins... Maybe, one was a boy and the other was a girl! What a turn of events that would be!"

Hearing the man loudly babble, Kang Jun massaged his temple and then he took a deep breath.

Kang Jun: "Chong Feng, calm down. Nothing has been proven as of yet. I'll find some information on my end, and you do the same. Tell me if you find out anything else that is of use."

Chong Feng: "I will."

When Lu AnLing came home she tried her best to put on a smile and be as playful as she usually was with Kang Mingyu but as the time slowly ticked by, her head and her heart began to feel heavy until she couldn't take it anymore.

Then, when it was time to tuck Kang Mingyu in, Lu AnLing did so and then she staggered to the room she and Kang Jun shared.

Once there, she dropped herself onto the warm bed and closed her eyes.

As she expected, the days' problems drifted into her head and flashed across her eyes as if she was watching a movie.

Seeing this for the second time, Lu AnLing couldn't help but bawl her eyes out.

It felt like an eternity before Kang Jun had been gone but when he finally walked through the door, and he saw Lu AnLing sprawled on their bed, he walked over to her.

Usually he would find her sleeping in Kang Mingyu's room but since this wasn't the case today, the man knew that nothing had gone right that day.

Kang Jun put all his things aside and then he went to sit beside the girl before he stroked the back of her head. Lu AnLing was turned on her side and she held her pillow on her face. For the first time, Kang Jun took in how young and vulnerable the girl looked.

Kang Jun: "What happened?"

Lu AnLing didn't answer him but she began to sob.

Kang Jun sighed and then he began to stroke her head more.

He was going to say something but suddenly he heard Lu AnLing's phone buzz.

"Do you want me to give that to you?" Kang Jun asked with a slightly worried tone.

Lu AnLing shook her head no, rubbing her nose hard onto the pillow.

Her phone had been ringing almost nonstop since she had gotten home. She thought that it was her mother calling her on behalf of her grandmother so Lu AnLing didn't have the courage to look at the screen.

She had left the room so quickly that day that she had even forgotten her marriage certificate. Lu AnLing had to get it back but right now she couldn't even think about going back to the hospital without crying. So, her best bet was to just ignore it for now, at least until she calmed down.

Though, it wasn't her mother calling. After all, her grandmother hadn't told anyone about what had happened.

Kang Jun looked at her caller ID.

"Lover boy?" Kang Jun muttered as he read the caller ID.
