Lu AnLing hadn't planned on confronting Lu Jiayi.

If the girl wanted to insult Lu AnLing, so be it, but insulting their grandmother was something Lu AnLing wouldn't allow.

In truth, Lu AnLing owed a lot to her grandmother. It was she who had made the decision to bring Lu AnLing into the family and most importantly, to introduce her into society as an heiress of the Lu family instead of 'just an adopted daughter'.

In one day, Lu AnLing had gain rights over the Lu family, equal to Lu Jiayi, Lu Shuya, Lu Duyi and all of her other cousins.

When she had first arrived in the family, she understood the families reluctance to accept her and she grew to be partially indifferent but when someone spoke ill about a person she loved, Lu AnLing couldn't help but explode.

"Don't you have any sense of respect? You should know your surroundings and your place." Lu AnLing stressed her words.

After she'd spoken, she felt no regret. Usually, her motto to avoid all trouble would bring her to the brink of cursing herself and crying tears of annoyance but this time, she had felt none of that.

When Lu Jiayi eyes landed on Lu AnLing, she glared.

"Me? Know my place? A person like you shouldn't even be here." Lu Jiayi scoffed and then she looked towards Chong Feng and said, "You and your subpar date."

Hearing this, Lu AnLing almost snorted. "Watch what you say. If granny hears you, you'll be in trouble"

"Do you think your empty threats will scare me? Granny is related to me by blood. Why would she chose a worthless adoptee over her true born granddaughter."

After Lu Xia was expelled from the Lu family, Lu Jiayi became the self-proclaimed 'eldest miss of the Lu family', completely disregarding Lu AnLing's existence.

"It's not about blood, Jiayi, it's about the fact that this man is the son of grandmother's precious friend. So, don't you dare insult him."

A small smirk forming at the side of Lu AnLing's lips. She then gestured to Chong Feng to introduce himself.

Chong Feng couldn't believe that Lu AnLing had used him as a prop but he wasn't angry. On the contrary, he found it completely hilarious.

He smiled.

"Hello, I'm Doctor Chong Feng."

Lu Jiayi froze.

He reached his hand out reluctantly to shake Lu Jiayi's but the man by the girl's side slapped his hand away as if he was shooing away a fly.

Chong Feng would have been more offended if he wasn't smarter, better looking and richer than the man, but he was. So he took no offence to a mere boy toy's reaction. He just wiped his hand on his pants with disgust.

Seeing this, Lu AnLing was reminded of Kang Jun.

When she'd been with him, he had done that several times when he had been accidentally touched by strangers.

Thinking of the man, she began to calm but in her heart, she began to miss his presence. She couldn't help herself but imagine how it would be if Kang Jun was by her side instead of Chong Feng.

With his crushing presence, he would probably bring everyone to their knees. The thought made Lu AnLing's heart react.

A blush began to appear on her face.

Why was she thinking of Kang Jun at a moment like this…

Suddenly, she was snapped out of it and Lu Jiayi's shocked voice came to her ear.

"Granny introduced you to a man?"

The way Lu Jiayi said that insinuated something but Lu AnLing wouldn't dare to answer. The fact that Grandma Lu had introduced Lu AnLing to a man only meant one thing to Lu Jiayi.

Grandma Lu wanted Lu AnLing to marry.

Lu Jiayi felt a bubbling sensation in her stomach.

Looking at Lu AnLing, Lu Jiayi eyes narrowed.

Lu Jiayi's mother had always told her that the first one to marry would get privileges beyond any other child from the Lu family. It was a tradition for the smartest to become the heir but the eldest girl would get the Lu family old home and much much more.

In her mother's generation, it was Lu AnLing's mother who married first and Lu Jiayi's mother was forced out of the house to find a good man to marry.

"I see Grandmother really does favor aunties children." Lu Jiayi scoffed before she crossed her arms over her chest, "Even the adopted ones"

Lu AnLing glared at Lu Jiayi.

Beside Lu AnLing, Chong Feng also glared at Lu Jiayi.

Suddenly, the man remembered something.

Before he had even met Lu AnLing, when his father had ditched him in the crowd, Chong Feng had met a few people he had known surrounded by a few socialites.

They were talking about Lu AnLing.

Back then, he didn't care but now that he knew that Lu AnLing was Kang Jun's lover, there was no way he could just stand back and watch someone mistreat her.

Chong Feng's body stiffened as he opened his mouth but before words could come out, a male voice drew everyone's attention.

"What's going on here?"

Everyone turned to see who had spoken.

When Lu AnLing's eyes landed on Lu Duyi, she felt her heart expand.

The boy was now taller than her, and handsome. She hadn't seen her brother in such a long time that she almost thought she would cry.

Seeing how much he had grown up since the last time she'd seen him, a wave of pride washed through her. It almost felt as if she was his own mother.

"Sis!" Lu Duyi said in a boyish voice. "I was looking for you."

He walked over to Lu AnLing and wrapped her in a tight embrace. The two completely ignored those around them.

Holding her Lu Duyi began to frown.

He pulled himself away from Lu AnLing.

"Have you not been eating? You're so skinny?!"

Now she was the one who felt like a child being scolded by her parent.

"I'm not that skinny."

Chong Feng examined the girl and concurred. "She's right."

Hearing this, Lu AnLing turned to Chong Feng in annoyance.

Lu AnLing: "Are you calling me fat?"

Lu Duyi, who had his arm over Lu AnLing's shoulder, looked at Chong Feng with anticipation. He knew that if the man responded wrongly he might get to see his sister beating someone up again…

He was super excited!

Sensing the stressed atmosphere, Chong Feng tried to save himself.

"Of course not. From a doctors standpoint, you're very healthy." He wasn't even sure why he had spoken. Then an idea came to mind. He pointed towards Lu Jiayi and said, "At least you're not an unhealthy stick figure."

Hearing this, Lu Duyi held back his snort.

Lu AnLing, on the other hand, didn't find it funny.

Lu Jiayi was fuming.

Noticing this, her boyfriend was about to beat Chong Feng up but Lu Jiayi stopped him with one hand.

Because Lu Duyi was there, Lu Jiayi didn't dare say or do anything. She knew, like everyone else in the family, that Lu Duyi was not the strongest of men but within the Lu family, he was a treasured existence.

Lu AnLing: "Anyway, Duyi, you said you were looking for me? Why?"

"I obviously haven't seen you in FOREVER! Can't I look for you?" Lu Duyi joked, though, in his eyes, it was obvious that he wasn't joking at all.

Lu AnLing laughed but deep in her heart, she felt bad. She had caused the boy some pain…

Hugging him, Lu AnLing apologized.

"But, actually, Grandpa told me to fetch every family member. The dinner portion of the evening is about to start." Lu Duyi turned from Lu AnLing to Lu Jiayi. Lu Duyi pointed towards the man at Lu Jiayi's side. "We have extra places, so he can come too."

Turning away, Lu Duyi was about to lead them to the table but then, he turned to Chong Feng. Seeing, the boy suddenly stop in front of him, Chong Feng almost jumped.

"Oh and, Granny also ordered me to bring you along too. You're Chong Feng right?"

Chong Feng nodded.

Together they began to walk to the table but then, feeling her phone vibrate, Lu AnLing stopped.

She checked the caller ID.

Seeing the name, Lu AnLing tugged on her brother's arm.

"I have an important call. I'll see you at the table."

Lu Duyi smiled at Lu AnLing.

"'Kay, I'll tell them."

Lu AnLing smiled back at Lu Duyi before she ran to find a private corner to answer the phone.

Watching her carefully, Chong Feng smirked. He had seen the caller ID as she left them.

King Kang…

Kang Jun surely seemed to be the King of Lu AnLing's heart.
