Past Promises 21 THE KING LEFT ME PART IV

That night, Court Lady Song had packed all of our things and I dismissed her early. I asked her to put the Prince to sleep and reminded her to wake me up early the next day.

I was sleeping soundly when suddenly a cold iron touched my neck and I startled awoke. I woke up and saw a person wearing a mask. He stood beside my bed and held a sword where the tip rested on my neck.

"Who sent you?" I asked, my whole body was trembling but I tried not to show my fear.

Court Lady Song entered my room with the Prince in her arms. Another person who was also wearing a mask gripped on her shoulder.

She was holding him tightly and cried when she saw me, "My Lady." I told her never use my title in front of other people.

The person behind her forcefully took the Prince from her arms and he swung his sword to her back. Her blood splattered on the walls. Her eyes wide opened as she looked at me and slowly her body dropped and her blood wetted the floor.

"NO!" I screamed. I tried to go to ger but stopped by the man beside my bed. He pulled me to sit on the bed.

"What do you want?!" I demanded. I swallowed my tears as I saw Court Lady Song lied on the floor unmoved. 'Is she dead?' I shook away the thought.

The man yanked my hair and put the sword on my neck, I could feel the edge cut my skin. The person who was holding the Prince took out a dagger and I could see his murderous eyes.

"What are you doing?! Stop!" I shouted.

"Move, and you will also die," the man pressed the sword on my neck and I could feel my blood dribbled and wetted my top.

"No, don't hurt him. I beg you!" I pleaded. I couldn't help to let go of my pride as my child's life was in danger. My sight blurred as my tears spilled incessantly.

Th person stripped the Prince off his blanket and he put the dagger against his pale skin. The tip rested on top of his right chest. He pressed the dagger and it pierced the Prince's skin and blood was oozing out from the Prince's small body. He pressed it slowly and I saw the dagger went deeper into the Prince's right chest.

The Prince started crying and screamed probably due to the pain. I was starting to feel nauseous and hazy.

"You animal! He's just a child!" I pleaded and pleaded him to stop his action.

The blood started dripping from the Prince's body, his screams sounded unbearable.

Suddenly the door to my room kicked opened, "Who dare to lay hands on my heir?!" It's the King's voice. He wielded his sword and pointed it to the person who was holding the Prince. He looked like he was going to rip the person into pieces.

The people in the masks were shocked and didn't manage to run away as few soldiers came in and held them down to the ground.

The King took the Prince and wrapped him with a blanket, "Call the physician, hurry!" He ordered a soldier.

I was relieved and as the King came to me, I fell into his arms, unconscious.
