Chapter 356 Drawing To A Close, Prelude
"Ho?"
Seeing Leo momentarily lost in thought just like she was a second ago, Yeon called out to him amidst the battle cries and the clashing of weapons, bringing him back to reality.
"Let's go back."
'That's right, I'm still me.'
Although Leo had no control over plot points like the forced death of the Heavenly Demon, he had all there was to say when it came to himself. This might be his third life, but it was his to live. As the Heavenly Demon had said, no matter how the circumstances force someone to make a choice, it is still the person who makes the choice!
Running back into the chaos, Leo snuck a glance at Geochin only for their gazes to meet. They had grabbed quite a lot of attention by rushing out of the frontlines, so it was only expected for him to stare at them considering his particular interest in Yeon.
However, neither Leo nor Yeon paid him any attention aside from Leo's quick glance. The war was still ongoing and the threat of the monsters didn't change.

It was true that cracks would no longer breach Murim for a few decades at the very least, but if the finest Martial Artists got crushed in this battle, even the leftover monsters would be enough to take over the world.
It might seem like his addition to humanity's side wouldn't make much of a difference, but Leo thought otherwise. The battle's balance was like a very thin sheet of ice that could be broken in either way at any moment, and being a small level stronger than they would have been in the novel was more effective than what it looked like.
Just basing it on his knowledge, the Martial Artists were likely to win with crack closed, but just winning wasn't Leo's target, especially if it was that confirmed. He wanted to contribute to the fight as someone infinitely close to the strength of the top brass, to get at least as much limelight as Geochin!
In addition, the battle needed to end faster than it would have been. In order to make dealing with the following event easier, it would be better if the casualties would be reduced.
Even in the few seconds that took him to go back, Leo lifted up his bow and took shots at a few transcendent monsters, with the main event of the battle and his own business concluded, all that was left was grinding through the horde to achieve complete victory!
The Unrestrained Martial Artists and their opponents were quite stagnant, with only a monster dying every now and then, but right after Leo and Yeon slipped back into their position, Cheon Chang had a change of heart as he started edging the monsters in front of him to their death.
'As expected, senior brother isn't that weak.'
The Absolute Spear was also supposed to die just to kill one Unrestrained monster like the Poison Dragon. However, that would have only happened due to the circumstances. Even when Leo changed them, he still couldn't go all out since that could make him a unified target in the race to grab the fruits.
On the other hand, now that he was surrounded by colleagues, he no longer needed to hold back. Using the same strength that half-killed one of the Demon Lord's forms, the monsters at the frontline stood no chance against him.

Leo wasn't sure as Cheon Chang didn't get to participate in this battle in the novel, but it looked like he was paying the monsters back for causing the death of the Heavenly Demon.
Through the timely assistance of the Murim League and the true ability displayed by the Heavenly Furnace's graduates, the backline was similarly in a good situation. If anything the middle lines were the most chaotic due to the mixing of all kinds of monsters unorganized by strength or ability.
'We gotta play our role.'
If this had been a novel he read, Leo would have likely skimmed through the last few pages of the war now that the parts worthy of interest were finished. However, this was still a great opportunity to get used to practical monster-slaughter.
This wasn't just about exchanging weapons more. He was trying to figure out the perfect timing to deliver a follow-up attack, the average pause before a monster could attack or defend. This was supposed to be the end of monsters in this world, but considering the realistic experience, this could come in handy in other books regardless of whether he had to kill humans or beasts.
Once again, the team of four got into their thing. The Demon Dragon finally got to blow off as much steam as he wanted without end as the Dancing Roc supported him on the side, allowing him a safe rampage. As for the White Tiger and the future Heavenly Demon, they continued two-shotting monsters from both ends…
Not that much different from them, Geochin's Blue Dragon Sword was slicing through transcendent monsters like butter. However, he had no one who could directly match his moves.
Following the common trope, Pung Miyoung couldn't quite catch up to the speed of his growth, especially when she wasted quite a bit of her training time willingly dragged around by Geochin as she managed the League's internal affairs. She could only stay back as Geochin hoped, 'Just in case'.
A major war like this would usually receive an epic conclusion, but aside from the lightning constantly raining from the sky, there wasn't much to show as the number of the monsters dwindled. Even then, that was more than enough to raise morale up to the sky!
'I kinda don't want it to end.'
Though the war ending as fast as possible was the best for his plan, Leo wasn't exactly excited about what would follow as the battle's curtains were quickly drawing to a close. After all, unlike what it looked like, this was but the prelude to the actual finale…
