No Matter How Long Time Passes, I Still Love You Chapter 72: Backfired

Originally, Chen Mu was not planning to show up tonight. Unfortunately, his tongue slipped during the call with Tian Yuo, so now he needs to suck it up and have dull, lengthy conversations with other businessmen. In order to keep Susu away from boredom, he left her with Lily so that she could avoid listening to the lame jokes that business people make.

As soon as he left them alone, crowds of people gathered around them. Some asked questions related to their outfits and makeup. Others questioned whether they were single and their relationship with Chen Mu. Facing a huge crowd all at once was overwhelming for Susu because she was not used to the attention.

At that moment, she inwardly cursed Tian Yuo for making that phone call earlier. If not, she would still be napping at home or enjoying a nice movie while relaxing with Chen Mu on the couch.

On the other hand, Lily was enjoying the questions about relationships and status. While Susu answered politely and gave minimal words as responses, Lily explained her answers to everyone. Lily was holding onto Susu's hand the entire time just in case she gets lost in the crowd.

"I've never seen Chen Mu attend any of these social events! Do you know why he came today?" One of the females asked curiously. Due to the fact that Chen Mu had never showed up in social events or private ones, people always thought that he was generally disinterested. Now that he showed up to this event and even brought a companion, who would let this chance go?

Susu was going to be honest with them, but Lily stopped her from spitting out the truth. Instead, she answered in Susu's place, "Of course it is to show off his girlfriend to the public. What else could it be? Every guest who is here tonight is from prestigious families. He wanted to properly introduce her to people."

"What? So they're dating? Wow! No wonder he wanted to show off his girlfriend! She is so beautiful. Which family are you from? I don't think we've met before." Another female asked to get some juicy gossip news.

Once again, Lily answered for her, "Currently, she uses the surname, Yin. Soon, it will be a Chen. So you guys better be careful what you say." Lily warned as she smirked at the crowd for their questions.

"Damn! Are you implying that they're secretly engaged?! Wow, what great news! The single ladies will surely cry once he announces it to the world." The guys from the crowd stepped back from Susu because they clearly understood their place now. Compared to Chen Mu, they are small peanuts. If they wanted to have a decent living in the business field, they wouldn't afford to offend the Chen's.

"What are you all discussing? Mind to share with us?" Tian Yuo passed through the crowd with Karen in his embrace. When he spotted them amongst the center of the crowd and heard the responses that Lily spat out, his heart felt pinching aches. It felt very uncomfortable hearing them talk like that.

"Well, if it isn't Yin Susu. What? You think you could grab my attention by coming here and dressing up like that? You couldn't hug my thick thigh, so you climbed onto Chen Mu now? Seriously, don't you know how to spell the word, shame? You social ladder climber." His humorous voice was so loud that it echoed in the room.

Susu raised her brows, "Oh? Which eye of yours saw me walking to you? Which ear of yours heard me say that I'm here for you? Mister Tian. The fact that you chose Karen was something I've long acknowledged. I think you've mistaken me for someone else." Susu responded coldly.

Lily wanted to fight back, but Susu squeezed her hand and shook her head slightly; signaling her to not make a move yet.

Tian Yuo refused to back down, "Mistaken? You used to follow me around like a maid. How would I mistake you for someone else? Oh, and now you dress up like that to get Chen Mu, huh?"

Karen was secretly cheering inside and hoped Tian Yuo would say more things to demean Susu in front of all these rich kids. Before Susu could respond to that, Chen Mu passed through the crowd and said in a much powerful and strict voice, "And who are you to say all these things about Susu?"

Tian Yuo watched as Chen Mu walked to Susu, held her hand in his and protectively blocked him from her view, "Sorry dear, I'm late."

Lily cracked her knuckles, "Finally!! Dont worry. You got the verbal part, and I got the physical part." She crossed her arms and was prepared to take actions anytime now.

"Yo, Chen Mu, I was just asking Susu about her incredible skills in climbing from one bed to another so quickly. Seems like you two are getting along quite well. How does my old shoe taste like?" Tian Yuo provoked Susu and Chen Mu once again.

With the same calm smile on his face, Chen Mu responded, "Huh? Old shoe? What old shoe? The one you are hugging right now? Ahhhh, I heard she abandoned you to go on an overseas adventure to be a designer? Came back recently and you two got back together. Must be her. It's not nice to put your lady on the table. As for your question, I have much better taste, so you can keep Karen to yourself. I don't share mine."

Tian Yuo released his grip around Karen's shoulder and gritted his teeth, "I meant Yin Susu!!" Since their wedding was done in private and they never had a proper ceremony, nobody knew about their wedding. Tian Yuo never announced publicly about Susu being his wife and she also never went to his company.

"Oh? Then answer my question. In what position are you in and with what rights do you have to question my girlfriend with such rudeness? Who are you to her, hmm? Do you have any evidence of her ever going after you? If so, then say it. Entertain the crowd." Chen Mu would not let him off for trying to embarrass her like this.

"I..I was... I am... I'm..." He choked on his words as he did not want to disclose their relationship as ex-husband and ex-wife.

"Uh huh~ Well, go on. You said that she chased after you and followed you around before. Care to share with us all about what she may have done while being with you? Hmm?" Chen Mu was making him eat his own words and suck up the responsibility for saying all those nasty words.

"She thinks that I didn't know that she would secretly go to my mother and learn about my eating habits. She mastered every dish that I liked and made it for me to try to win over my stomach. She always smiled at me even when I throw unpleasant words at her to make her upset. I never care one bit for her birthdays and till today I still don't know it. Instead, she always prepared meals for my birthday. She took care of my family. If all these things combined does not add up to the reason that she loves me, then I don't know what it is."

Tian Yuo avoided the relationship question, but spat out the main efforts that she had done in the past for him. Chen Mu smiled, "Oh? Then may I ask every person who is in this room right now, a question? For the ladies, would you ever go to that extent for your loved one? For the gentlemen, would you ever reject or feel unmoved by this girl if she took care of your every need, took her time to learn about your tiniest pet peeves, and accepted your family members as her own?"

The females shook her head and Chen Mu asked a few to answer for the crowd.

First female guest: "Personally, I would give some efforts to try to please that man to a certain extent, but I would not tolerate his attitude. If he doesn't realize how great I treat him, then he's definitely off my list for dating. And from that description, I suppose if it is all true words then she must have spent years on this jerk. I feel sorry for her, especially the birthday part."

Second female guest: "I can't even stand going into the kitchen to grab a drink when someone is cooking. The oil and steam are so bad for my skin. Not only that, I wouldn't have the patience to take care of his family's needs either. So, forget him. I think my love would never get that far for anyone to make me change. She's very impressive."

Third female guest: "I would at most get up to cooking his favorite dish, but I wouldn't care enough to learn all about him unless he is my future husband or that I love him so deeply that I would forget about myself. Other than that, the guy would probably get a slap from me before I leave because he sounded very disrespectful. So if this is true, then Tian Yuo, you are definitely a disappointment and failure as a man."

First male guest: "If a girl would fight cooking oil, learn about my habits, cook exclusively for me, and care for my family members...forget dating her. As for birthdays, she would deserve the world!"

Second male guest: "Seriously, if a girl did that for me, then I wouldn't be a single dog right now. If that girl is being rejected by that man who is so blind to realize what a gem he is giving up, then I would definitely swoop in and take her from him. What kind of man would feel nothing from all these actions? I mean, come on! I would at least try it out with the girl, but never reject her without trying things out."

Third male guest: "That man is blind and stupid to reject or even hurt the girl. If someone gives that much effort into an unclear relationship status like this, it's obvious how much she loves that man. I would give up what I have now to find a girl like her. And what old shoe? What century are we in now? Everyone dates and breaks apart. Plus, if they never dated, she wouldn't even be an old shoe. Even if she dated, so what? Her personality is too great to even care about her past."

After these guests spoke their thoughts out, Chen Mu kissed Susu's hand, "I ended up picking this gem up, and I don't plan on giving her to anyone. So, Tian Yuo, you said she was your old shoe, but from how everyone present and I see it, you've only suffered a huge loss. Since you've rejected and hurt her, I'll fill up those spaces with no rush at all. But regardless of your intention of trying to point out the past doings that Susu had done for you, I should thank you."

"Thank me?" Tian Yuo's voice was filled with disappointment and frustration. He felt like he had just slapped himself across the face.

"Yep. If not, then my introduction of her being my girlfriend would be so dull and meaningless. With your words, I believe everyone is clear of how amazing this girl is. It is my luck possibly from ten lifetimes combined or even longer to have met her, fell in love with her, and wooed her with my sincerity. Everyone, I want to announce to you. This beautiful and pure hearted woman is Yin Susu; my one and only girlfriend. I'm expecting her to change her surname in the future, though, so the surname really doesn't matter much for now."

"Also, if she really climbed from one bed to another, then it wouldn't have taken me years to get this woman to fall for me. It took me so much effort to seduce her that I'm not even joking. Therefore, watch your words when you spit out false accusations and make up harmful rumors. I am in a good mood today to not take legal actions. The crowd congratulated the couple with envy written all over their faces. Though everyone was jealous that the couple matched each other perfectly, they knew that they would never be able to surpass the couple's love for each other. Meanwhile, Karen's face was darker than charcoal as she thought of the humiliation and still zero mentions about her outfit. A part of her regretted coming with Tian Yuo because his reputation was utterly ruined after this. Her business hasn't even started yet and already, she could feel a huge loss.

As for Lily, her mind was already set on avenging Susu in her own way. 'Nobody can bully my Susu in front of others. Heh, didn't she want to brag about her outfit to others? Let your overconfidence be the reason for your fall today. As for Tian Yuo, her losing face only matches you better. Hmph.'
