Chapter 730: Chapter 260 Testing and Beginning_2
With Persephone around, Hades still had some understanding of the affairs above. For instance, recently, for reasons unknown, he had heard that Zeus seemed to have taken a liking to a prince named Ganymede.
It was not unusual for a God to take an interest in a mortal, especially in the case of Zeus–if it were a princess instead of a prince.
“Hera… I wonder if, after all these years, you regret it, or perhaps you've always regretted?”
No one knew the answer, not even Hades.
He needed to check the entrance of the Abyss later, to see why this ancient existence had suddenly become turbulent, even emanating considerable strength.
Swish–
The edge of the Underworld, the Realm of Lightlessness.
Darkness congealed and Erebus emerged from within.
However, unlike his usual calm demeanor, the Lord of Darkness seemed to be in a foul mood today. In his hands, some of the Abyss's strength was still entwined.
This was a troublesome side effect of the Abyss's sudden upheaval, even though it was merely a reflexive fluctuation, it indeed caused no small amount of trouble.
It had been more than a few seasons since the Golden Apple feast, yet Erebus's progress was not very smooth.
After persuading the Sea God, his next target was the Abyss. However, all this time had passed and he still had no way of entering personally.
There was no way around it; he was, after all, not Zeus. The Divine King and the Primordial Gods differed in this regard, and when Tartarus instinctively rejected outsiders, Erebus had no solution.
Having no choice, lately, he intended to temporarily put aside matters concerning the Abyss.
There was still much preparation needed; he did not want to remain stuck on a single tree–yet just as Erebus was about to abandon his efforts, Tartarus suddenly erupted, causing him a minor setback while probing.
The Abyss remained the Abyss, still the strongest among the Primordial Gods, even when a worm appeared within.
“No, it wasn't a riot.”
“It just sensed a threat, a threat from… beyond the world.”
“Another Nine Realms, another Blood Mother Tree? Is this the cause of the world's power fluctuations…”
It was not only Tartarus who sensed it; Erebus also had a subtle feeling.
Not long ago, the once overwhelming world power seemed to quiet down briefly.
For a moment, Erebus even believed his arrangements would go uncompleted, but soon, the flow of world power resumed.
Yet accompanying it was a fleeting, unfamiliar gaze that seemed to watch from the void beyond realms.
The force was distinctly different from the Chaotic Gods, but it vanished quickly.
If it hadn't been for the Abyss boiling over instantaneously, Erebus might have considered it a mere illusion.
In an instant, various changes flashed through Erebus's mind, and he seemed to understand something.
Otherworldly, the return of Nyx, the draining of the world's power, and even the source of darkness that began to vibrate subtly in his perception.
The power related to 'Darkness' throughout the world of Chaos started to incrementally increase, and as the essence of “Darkness,” the reaction of the Realm of Lightlessness was most evident, thus it was immediately noticed.
Perhaps the power of the entire world would rise again, but Erebus could almost foresee that maybe a new God would be born.
Indeed, besides inherently great Primordial Gods like him, once deities of “Light,” “Ocean,” “Celestial” start showcasing signs of ascension in time with world growth, the long blades of the present world might again fall mercilessly.
As for what might transpire then, perhaps the internal divisions of the Lightless celestial bodies might happen again, the appearance of a third Light God might occur, and there might be turbulence within the Sea God titans; perhaps a new great oceanic deity system, beyond the ancestors and the ancient Sea Gods, might be born…
“Of course, perhaps nothing will happen. The resistance strength of this otherworld is markedly stronger than the remnants of the Nine Realms, if the present world suffers from it, maybe someone could leverage this to break free of their shackles.”
“And then, when the will of the present world catches on, gradually weaken them bit by bit.”
Unless the destiny of the present world collapsed and the old order was destroyed, Erebus did not think the current world could give birth to mighty divine power beyond a God-King.
However, this was unrelated to Erebus; what he truly focused on was another matter, that with the increase of dark power on the world's dark side, the pressure he felt spiritually became more pronounced.
In the hierarchical system Lane defined for himself, Erebus originally had a divine power level of 25, which was a relative critical point.
The first half of the great divine power ended here, and once stepping into the second half, not even the Lord of Darkness knew what he would face.
Would he, like Gaia, split into sky, mountains, and sea almost self-conceivingly, or be assigned new duties by the world but also chained tighter, akin to the trinary embodiment of Nyx? Whatever it may be, Erebus did not want to leave his future up to the elusive fate.
Hence, making a change was imperative.
With a raise of his hand, using the power of the Realm of Lightlessness, he suppressed the minor wound brought by the Abyss. Compared to the Blood Mother Tree, though formidable, Tartarus and he were ultimately of the same tier.
With a sweep of his long sleeve, his form vanished. In the next moment, Erebus was already above the skies of the Underworld.
