Chapter 590: Chapter 182: Making a Covenant_2
He didn't know how long had passed, so long that it seemed like an epoch had gone by. At a certain moment, the pressure finally receded like the tide. The voice of the god resounded once more, but this time, Messe no longer felt the warmth within it.
“If this is what you want, then return to your people. Go and endure the hardships with them, and do not come back.”
“You will forsake the future, forsake eternal life, forsake everything you have, and endure the calamity bestowed by their god alongside your kin. Those who do not believe in me will all perish, and even the faithful must endure disaster.”
“Of the strong ones, three out of ten will die. Of women and children, five out of ten will die. Of the old and sick, seven out of ten will die… This world does not belong to you, and you must go to the place that belongs to you. You must leave here and go to the end of the sea… Even so, do you insist on your opinion?”
“I insist, but oh god, what about them?” Messe asked, “Those beings who have wrought calamity upon us. Can they dwell in splendid palaces, enjoying beauty and joy?”
“Of course not.”
“Those dwelling on earth will face earthly punishment; those in the heavens will face heavenly retribution. Whatever they have inflicted on you will surely be repaid upon them and their gods; this is my promise to you, and you alone.”
The god's voice remained calm, but at this moment, Messe felt a sense of relief. He didn't know if he would regret it in the future, but now he indeed believed he was right.
“I am grateful for your mercy, Almighty Creator.”
He softly chanted, then looked up again. This time, Messe once more beheld the presence of the god.
“Willing to offer my all to you, Almighty Lord, though everything originates from you.”
Standing outside of time, witnessing all this, it seemed as though the god smiled.
“Very well, I have accepted.”
“Since everything is thus settled, Messe.”
“I make a covenant with you.”
Few people knew what Messe's existence truly meant. Even Isis, who had observed him for so many years, only knew in general terms.
In Hemenu, he was just Messe; but to Chaos, he was Pallas. However, Pallas's fate was dead, and he should not have been alive, for the Divine King had sacrificed the former Goddess of Wisdom to the world… If he could survive, his very existence would be a denial of the world.
Thus, in the past millennia, the collision between the two worlds had greatly intensified because of his existence.
Harming the enemy by eight hundred, losing a thousand oneself, in an attempt to erase this life that should not exist, both worlds suffered even greater losses… But in reality, this was due to Messe's soul being incomplete. Because his ten reincarnations had not ended, he did not count as Pallas truly reborn.
At this moment, when he offered everything of his own will to the god, the god made him whole. And this behavior that completely violated Chaos's will instantly brought immense turmoil to both worlds.
In the sky, within the sun.
Ra held the scepter, intending to fully wield the power of the sun, using the flames that could burn the world to cleanse all mortals with the bloodline of the Alien Realm.
He could do it and held the right to do so. When he merged with Amon's strength, even on the world's reverse side, the giant serpent Apep, symbolizing chaos, was no longer his match. He could more easily disperse it, allowing it to slowly rebirth in the chaos.
However, just as he was about to take action, a tremendous shock, unheard by mortals, suddenly occurred. Ra nearly lost his footing and almost fell from before his throne.
“What happened… Is that Otherworld, is it mad?”
First confusion, then his expression changed drastically. Ra suddenly discovered that the rate of erosion of Hemenu by the Alien Realm's forces had suddenly multiplied by ten thousand times.
