Chapter 80 – 80 Neatly Arranged Corpses
Xu Wenqian and her companions felt tense upon seeing this scene, as fear spread with the darkness. However, they also knew this was their opportunity.
If they missed the chance to be sheltered by Su Han, their fate would be even more pitiful in this apocalyptic world.
“Summer Garden Mall's underground parking garage has three levels, excluding the interior staircase entrances of the mall, and there are a total of three car exits. This is the closest one.”
“Lead the way.”
Su Han had already activated the Black Armor skill, with the austere black scale armor enveloping him.
The Human-Faced Tree walked in the front, its vine-like arms extending out, activating the power of the Radiance of the Lamp Tree. The fluorescing light chased away the darkness at the entrance, seemingly bringing with it a hint of warmth.
“Hiss hiss hiss”
However, the trio had followed the Human-Faced Tree barely more than ten meters into the light before an ice-cold, serpent-like slithering sound emerged from the darkness at the edge of the light.
“Tap tap tap”
Footsteps, swift and hurried, rose from the darkness, accompanied by roars of beasts that seemed to thirst for blood and prey.
One after another, Tentacle-faced Monsters leaped out of the darkness and lunged towards Su Han and his party.
Su Han looked unruffled and even smiled as he said, “Here they come.”
The warrior Spider was the first to rush out, swinging his Wolf Fang Club with heft, instantly breaking the spine of an attacking Tentacle-faced Monster.
Undeterred by the prospect of death, the remaining Tentacle-faced Monsters charged frenziedly, their writhing tentacles almost reaching the group.
The warrior Spider swung his Wolf Fang Club like a whirlwind, sweeping them back. Vines from the Human-Faced Tree spread out from its treant-like legs, hugging the ground as they sprawled outwards.
Soon, within the thirty-meter radius the vines reached, light illuminated everything and the Tentacle-faced Monsters in the dark became exposed—there were twenty to thirty of them.
The Human-Faced Tree's vine-like arms danced, splitting into over a dozen tendrils that stretched out and snatched three Tentacle-faced Monsters back.
The strong and robust vines bound the limbs of the Tentacle-faced Monsters, locking their tentacles in place.
“Kill them.”
Su Han simply uttered the command, and the three women were taken aback at first, but quickly, their spears jabbed towards the Tentacle-faced Monsters.
Having decided to brave the underground parking garage with Su Han, the women acted decisively and, despite some initial awkwardness, did not hesitate.
“I'll help you—Angel Envoy, kill those monsters.”
As the three women were striking down the Tentacle-faced Monsters, Xu Wenqian also reacted quickly, immediately sending her own Angel Envoy to assist.
Before mutation, the Six-Clawed Blood Cat was just a pet cat.
But after mutating, it had turned unmistakably into a crimson, furless feline creature, its body a ghastly blood red, muscles bared, with six oversized paws and a pair of cat eyes that were a third the size of its face, the yellow irises shockingly conspicuous.
This Six-Clawed Blood Cat, two meters in length and about seventy centimeters tall, resembled a blood panther and immediately pounced on one of the Tentacle-faced Monsters.
Unbothered by the slimy tentacles entwining it, the cat bit into the neck fiercely, blood spraying and blending with the cat's own hue, followed by the sound of bones shattering.
The Six-Clawed Blood Cat was strong; having toppled one monster, it swiftly moved to pounce on another.
However, compared to the Six-Clawed Blood Cat, the Human-Faced Tree began to unleash its power.
After the three women had killed some Tentacle-faced Monsters, it was free to join in, with its vine-like upper limbs twisting together into a sharp point, constantly thrusting at the Tentacle-faced Monsters.
Vines lashed out simultaneously, and in an instant, most were slaughtered.
Su Han, clad in Black Armor, took action, his Pu knife ever more sharp, cutting down the Tentacle-faced Monsters in a matter of moments.
After over ten minutes of battle, the ground was covered with the corpses of Tentacle-faced Monsters.
The remaining five Tentacle-faced Monsters, stricken with fear, attempted retreat, but the vines had already blanketed the nearby area, not giving them a chance to retreat into the darkness.
The vines struck, brutally constricting and killing them on the spot.
The thick stench of blood permeated the entire underground parking garage. Under Su Han's control, the Human-Faced Tree's vines extended towards the Tentacle-faced Monsters, unabashedly beginning to fuse with the material.
“You all take a rest and get used to it, there are still many monsters like this in the underground parking lot.”
Xu Wenqian was the most helpful and adapted the best, but the remaining three women were not quite up to it.
Although they had formed Contracts and had also coordinated in combat with their Angel Envoy Tentacle-faced Monsters, they had separately killed two Tentacle-faced Monsters.
But the thick scent of blood had already caused their instincts to react with discomfort, leaving them a bit weak from exhaustion.
“Ththank you.”
A delicate voice sounded, but Su Han didn't pay attention to it and instead took the opportunity to survey a corner of the first floor of the parking garage while his Human-faced Tree was fusing with the Tentacle-faced Monster.
Being close to the entrance, there weren't many cars, only about a dozen, and it seemed that some people had attempted to escape from here but ran into an accident, causing a vehicle to tip over near the entrance, blocking many other cars.
The chaotic scene, along with bloodstains, made it clear that quite a few people had died here.
However, what caught Su Han's attention the most were the long streaks of blood trailing off into the deeper parts of the garage.
It didn't look like an injured person crawling but rather being dragged away by monsters.
The disappearance of people, being dragged into the underground parking lot, this didn't seem like simply searching for food.
If it were searching for food, there would be a slaughter, not this kind of quiet operation.
Su Han kept pondering the clues he knew so far, and from the deeper darkness in the distance, rustling sounds occasionally emerged, indicating there were still monsters active inside.
He looked toward the direction of the sounds, his brow furrowed slightly. If it were in Treant Form, the vines could reach much farther, and dominating the first floor of the parking garage would be completely feasible.
However, due to the limited ceiling height, it was impossible for the Human-faced Tree to transform into another form here, and it had to maintain its Anthropomorphic State.
Su Han couldn't help but think that the Angel Envoy he had under Contract should at least have some flexible forms, otherwise fighting in tight spaces would be greatly hindered.
Time ticked away, and one by one the Tentacle-faced Monster corpses were fused, and the Fusion Degree of the Tentacle-faced Monster continued to increase.
It rose gradually from 28% to 87%, and every percentage point required a few more Tentacle-faced Monsters.
However, in this underground parking lot, everything else might be scarce, but certainly not cars and Tentacle-faced Monsters.
“Let's keep moving,”
Seeing Su Han's Angel Envoy 'Devour' those monsters, Xu Wenqian felt even more awe towards him.
“The entrance and exit to the second underground level are at the very back.”
Xu Wenqian continued to lead Su Han forward, with the Human-faced Tree retracting its vines slightly, advancing unhurriedly.
The entrance behind them gradually faded back into darkness, with only a faint glimmer of light near the entrance.
As the group advanced from the corner of the first underground level, startled Tentacle-faced Monsters would sometimes attack from the shadows.
This time, there was no need for Su Han to take action. The Human-faced Tree's vines lashed out quickly to attack, piercing through the monsters that lunged at them.
The vines hung them midair and continued to fuse with them while moving, creating a bizarre scene.
From the entrance all the way to the entrance of the second level, the frequency of Tentacle-faced Monsters' attacks gradually diminished.
Silence encompassed the whole parking lot, the sounds of footsteps continued to echo.
Coming to a sloping corner that served as the entrance, it too was pitch black, with the rustling sounds continuously receding, as if all the Tentacle-faced Monsters had fled down below.
A shiver ran through Su Han's heart, and he was even more cautious as he said, “Let's go down.”
They slowly walked down along the wall, and after a large curve, the second-floor parking garage came into view.
The Human-faced Tree's vines extended ahead of them and as the vines spread, light gradually dispersed.
One car after another, messily parked, appeared in the light, and beside these cars, neatly arranged corpses shockingly emerged before them.
These bodies were laid out in tidy, straight lines, both vertically and horizontally, as if encased in invisible coffins.
Their clothes were blood-soaked, faces turned downward, motionless, their exposed pale skin was profoundly eerie.
“Wh-what's going on here?”
