My Beautiful Wife, Please Give Me Some Pin Money! Chapter 4: Narrow Escape From the “Wolves' Hunt”

Geng Zhishan had a small yard. The kitchen was just near where she lived so she could hear their nasty talks clearly. Geng Zhishan guarded by the door, and dared not to get close to the kitchen.

Xie Mengxuan wouldn't forget those voices until the day she died. It was them that chased her for two days, cornered her to the edge of a cliff as if they were bullying a cat. 'They are here already?' She thought it carefully and realized that she was exactly the chick they spoke of?!

A hint of panic could be caught in Xie Mengxuan's eyes as she thought of it. Would they be staying here or they were simply stopping by?

"Chief, on our way here, the villagers kept talking about a simpleton who was lucky enough to get himself a pretty wife. Shall we have a look?"

Xie Mengxuan heard someone said this from the outside. It sounded like they got horny, but she could tell that they, in fact, wanted her dead. She swallowed her saliva out of nervousness and fixed her eyes on the door, panting lightly. Her heart kept beating hard as the sound of their footsteps closed in.

One step, two steps, three steps... They were almost at the door. Through the thin paper window, she saw that there was just the space of a palm between a big hand and the door.

The moment that guy's fingers touched the door, Xie Mengxuan closed her eyes. But instead of the opening of the door, the next thing she heard was the simpleton shouting,

"Keep away from the door! It's my wife in there, no one is allowed to go in!"

Geng Zhishan stood in front of the door with his arms wide open. Xie Mengxuan felt so relieved. She knew that the bunch of bad guys would get what they wanted even though Geng Zhishan got in their way. At least now, that man had bought her some time.

Xie Mengxuan looked around, but there was nothing for her to improvise some sort of a disguise. Right now, she was a bit annoyed about the tidiness of this room.

"Get out of our way! Whomever our chief wants to see, he gets to see them." After one guy said it, their footsteps got closer and closer.

The distinct sound of a smack on the face came to Xie Mengxuan's ears, as well as a mean swearing. She pushed herself up to check the ground. She dipped her fingers into the leftover decoction in a bowl that she drank this morning, then mixed it with the dust on the ground, and painted her face rapidly.

She fabricated her disguise in a flash and tousled her hair. Before she could make it more convincing, the door opened.

*Cough*... *Cough*...

The instant the door opened, Xie Mengxuan started to cough intensely. She lay on the bed, coughing as hard as she could.

Without knowing that she  was pretending to be sick, Geng Zhishan immediately got up from the ground, rushed to her and asked in a worried tone, "Wife, my wife, are you alright? Why are you coughing so badly? I'll get Doctor Qin here to treat you."

While talking, Geng Zhishan patted her on the back. His rough hand didn't get the right intensity. His pats, or his slaps, made Xie Mengxuan roll her eyes. 'Can't you be gentle, you silly? You would slap me to death before the coughs did!'

Xie Mengxuan blamed him in silence. The men standing at the door examined Xie with their grim eyes, as if they were trying to see her through.

A moment later, one guy stepped up, pointed his sword at Geng and Xie, and snapped in an icy voice, "Raise your head."

Xie Mengxuan swallowed nervously and then slowly lifted her upper body, during which she even collapsed in Geng Zhishan's arms like she was worn out.

The only thought on Geng Zhishan's mind, however, was that she was sick. He was so worried that he didn't even know where to put his hands. He felt so guilty and said, "Honey, I have failed to look after you. Sorry."

This simple-minded man acted rather regretful all of a sudden, which made Xie Mengxuan almost lose her temper. 'Does he have any idea what the hell is going on?'

Xie Mengxuan's quivering body finally got up with the help of Geng Zhishan. Her eyelids were drooping; her face looked terrible; and her mouth was still drooling while she struggled to talk, "M-Misters, wh-what's wrong?"

At this moment, Xie Mengxuan had managed to uglify herself. Those guys stepped back, frowned at her and left, complaining about how unlucky they were.

After they left, Xie Mengxuan flopped right off on bed out of faintness and panted hard, not because she was a coward, but she had to stay alive right now. She couldn't die. There was a task waiting for her to accomplish.

Geng Zhishan crouched in front of her, staring at her, which threw a chill to Xie's spine.

She couldn't stand his gaze any longer, so she leaned back and said sulkily, "What?"

Geng Zhishan looked at her. Suddenly, he grabbed her and held her in arms, saying, "Wife, no matter how you look, I won't give you up! Don't be afraid, I'll help you recover."

Geng Zhishan held Xie increasingly tighter as if he was squeezing her into his bones. Xie Mengxuan nearly suffocated yet the big lug didn't even realize it.

Not getting any response from Xie Mengxuan, Geng Zhishan had to loosen his grip. He looked straight into her eyes and asked her very seriously, "Dear, why don't you say anything? I haven't make myself clear, have I? I promise, I'm still willing to kiss you even you are sick and ugly."

*Cough, cough*... Xie Mengxuan couldn't help coughing because she was having such a hard time breathing in his arms.

Geng Zhishan held her shoulders, closed his eyes and puckered his lips in an attempt to kiss her.

Xie Mengxuan was shocked by his action. She tried to fight back but it was futile as she found this man surprisingly strong. Seeing his face approaching, Xie closed her eyes and kicked upwards.

Thump...

"Aaaaaahh!"

The shouting of agony was reverberating in the room, and even the birds on the branches outside the room flew away in shock.

"Honey, easy, or else we can't have pleasant sex in the future." The man made such a shocking remark shortly after he felt better.

Then, a dainty jade-white foot kicked the hunky fella off the bed. Xie Mengxuan stared at him with teeth gritted and thundered angrily, "Get out!"

Geng Zhishan sat on the bamboo step with an unhappy look on his face after getting chucked out, feeling his member aching. He looked back at the broken door behind him, and mumbled, "She must have never tasted the pleasure, or else she wouldn't be so furious. Right, we gotta get married as soon as possible."

Inside the room, on her bed that was close to the window, Xie Mengxuan had heard everything he just said. She directly threw the bowl in which there was still some decoction left to Geng Zhishan in a sulk.

She clearly saw that Geng Zhishan's body budged to one side subconsciously while he had his back to her, but he forced himself to halt where he was.

She squinted. 'This is not an ordinary guy.' She didn't know any martial arts but her two brothers did. When they were playing together, she had seen her brothers sometimes deliberately take the hit although it could be dodged, which was just like what Geng Zhishan did.

Outside, Geng Zhishan looked down to conceal the sign of hesitation and flurry in his eyes. Not until a few minutes later, did he frown, open his eyes and look back at Xie Mengxuan with an innocent expression, "Why did you hit me, wifey? It really hurts."
