My Beautiful Wife, Please Give Me Some Pin Money! 40: A Sudden Call from Aunt Cui

Proofread by Claire.KK

Terrible-looking, with a croaking voice, Uncle Luo was revered even when he didn’t flare up. Gu Yusheng couldn’t help the quiver in his heart and gradually calmed down. “I see.”

During these days, the attitude of Xie Mengxuan caused him quite a flutter. He took it for granted that Xie Mengxuan should have fallen in love with him due to his identity. However, there came an unexpected one in halfway, that was to say, Geng Zhishan, who tried to poke his nose into this matter.

Although Xie Mengxuan never gave a positive response, he figured it out that she was concerned about Geng Zhishan but failed to develop a further relationship as there was a gap between them in identity.

When it came to identity, Gu Yusheng felt relieved. He, the young gentleman from the Gu family, would be the master of the Gu clan in the near future.

He no more thought of what Geng Zhishan had just said and turned to lie down. He gradually fell into sleep after taking a deep breath for several times.

On the early morning of the next day, Zhao Long and Zhao Hu knocked on the door. “Get up! Don’t be late!”

Xie Mengxuan sat up and looked out. Geng Zhishan, who had slept in a sofa bed, already got up. He showed a smile and yelled at them. “Take it easy. I need time to make good preparations. One day is enough.”

Zhao Long and Zhao Hu didn’t say anything more since he hadn’t gone out.

Geng Zhishan cooked breakfast for Xie Mengxuan and others as usual. When they finished eating and opened the courtyard door, there turned out to be a huge number of people outside. Everyone was holding a basket filled with yellow paper money. In the center of the crowd was a coffin.

The face of Xie Mengxuan was set in grim lines. They went so far as to bury him in the ground?

She had a look at Uncle Luo and Gu Yusheng who came after her.

Gu Yusheng stood near her. “Don’t worry. Everything will be fine.”

Xie Mengxuan could feel her heart pounding in the chest. She nodded. “Is it well arranged?”

“Rest assured.”

Gu Yusheng said in a hushed voice, and patted her on the shoulder.

Looking at the coffin, Geng Zhishan said with a smile. “You seem to have made thorough preparations.”

The sorceress waved the walking stick to give Zhao Long and others a hint to open the coffin. She said without haste: “Come in.”

Geng Zhishan subtly frowned but wore a smile. “Could you introduce me to the schedule so that I can have a basic knowledge?”

The sorceress lifted her eyes, only to look directly into the sharp eyes of Xie Mengxuan. She cleared the throat. “Okay. I’m kind to make you die without confusion. When you enter in, we’ll carry the coffin to the mountain. However, considering the potential landslide, we are going to a cliff. On the road, we’ll spread paper money for you to bribe demon lackeys. Finally, we’ll seal the coffin and push it down the cliff.”

The sorceress gave a little cough for finishing such a long passage of words. Geng Zhishan chuckled and uttered a tongue-in-cheek remark. “Well…Thank you for all the trouble you’ve taken.”

The sorceress ignored his implication. “You’re welcome. We all feel obliged to you since you’re willing to sacrifice your life for our security.”

Geng Zhishan was aware that if he was to lie in the coffin, he would have been stifled to death even before they reached the destination. They kept heavy guard over him so that his subordinates not necessarily had time to cut a hole on the coffin. He lowered his eyelids to think to himself. “No, don’t bother. I could ascend the mountain on my own.”

All present looked at each other in astonishment. Some wanted to grant his request while the sorceress hit the walking stick on the ground. “No. The coffin is equal to a bridal sedan chair. If you don’t stay here, how could the Mountain God tell you as her husband?”

Staring at her for a while, Geng Zhishan nodded. “You’re very thoughtful. Well, I’ll follow your advice.”

The sorceress let out a sigh of relief and handed to him a cloth package in another’s hand. “First of all, you need to change your clothes. It’s the bridegroom’s suit for you.”

“Okay.” Geng Zhishan received it and turned back to the room with a smile to get dressed.

Glancing around, Xie Mengxuan failed to see Aunt Cui. It was weird that Aunt Cui was absent.

Her eyes dimmed. Was Aunt Cui plotting something?

When Geng Zhishan came out, he was wearing a red robe. Xie Mengxuan had a wrong impression that he turned out to be shorter. However, Geng Zhishan chuckled next to her. She dispelled her suspicion and lowered her voice. “Do remember.”

“Don’t worry.” Geng Zhishan replied, and then lay in the coffin, surrounded by the crowd.

All present came in swarms to spread paper money. Standing still, Xie Mengxuan found the scene a real eyesore. After taking a deep breath, the moment she was about to return to the room, Zhao Long went forward with a smile.

“Young lady…” Zhao Long didn’t appear to be kind even with a smile on his face.

Xie Mengxuan casted a side glance at him. “What’s wrong?”

“Aunt Cui was waiting for you in the sorceress’s house. She has something to tell you, something you want to learn about all the time.” Zhao Long said in a hushed voice.

Xie Mengxuan sneered. “Go back to give Aunt Cui a message. At last time, she didn’t tell me. There’s no need now since I have no desire.”

“Is there any chance that Geng Zhishan is able to survive? You don’t want to know that?” Zhao Long hurried to take two steps forward and said in a low voice.

Xie Mengxuan suddenly turned her head to stare at him. After a while, she showed a sinister smile. “Okay, I’ll go. If I don’t get the answer I want, watch out, Zhao Long. As long as I’m alive, you’ll never have a chance to hold up your head again.”

Zhao Long paid no heed to the threat of Xie Mengxuan. As they carried out each order from Aunt Cui who had attached herself to the influential, she was going to give them a hand to help them leave here. They were bound together by interests and loss.

With no attention to her threat, Zhao Long got across the message to her and turned away.

Xie Mengxuan took a deep breath and had a look at Gu Yusheng. “If I haven’t returned after a long time, come to find me.”

“Ok.” His heart sank. What did the woman want to do on earth?

Xie Mengxuan walked towards the sorceress’s house. The village was empty than usual since others went to send Geng Zhishan to the mountain.

Upon arrival, she knocked on the door. Shortly afterwards Aunt Cui opened the door with a bright smile which turned broader when she saw Xie Mengxuan.

“My young lady, come in, please.”

“Why not directly tell me at the doorway?”

Xie Mengxuan glanced around to find no one else. However, she didn’t want to enter the house in case the door would be locked by somebody hiding outside. At that time, she could come up with no way to leave here.

Aunt Cui was in a daze. “It’s okay, but it’s also risky to show you the evidence I’ve mastered at the doorway. I have put it away in the room. Why not come in to have a careful look?”

“You’re tricking me into the room. What are you plotting?” Xie Mengxuan sneered. “If you are not frank with me, I’m going to leave. I don’t care whoever behind the scene. After all, I’m bound to catch him.”

The instant she was about to leave, Aunt Cui reached out to prevent her. Xie Mengxuan had a quick reaction to get rid of her hand. However, Aunt Cui fell onto the ground and burst out a loud cry.
