Chapter 1639: Chapter 1639: Do You Need a Reason to Kill? Chapter 1639: Chapter 1639: Do You Need a Reason to Kill? One after another, the painting scrolls were filled. Each scroll could bear the lives of millions of living beings.
Within a short span, tens of millions of lives were surrendered, becoming nourishment for the Godly Kings of the North Plain.
Luckily, the number of scrolls in the North Plain's possession was limited, totalling up to just ten.
Because of this, many sects and cities have been spared but they were clear that this was temporary, they could be next at any given moment.
The Lynch Sect.
After his last period of silence, Denton Horton's power had become stronger, more complete.
He no longer required the aid of the snowy mountain to absorb the scrolls, so he never returned to the North Plain, instead, he spent his days in the Lynch Sect.
In the Sect's cultivation room, Denton Horton was seated with his eyes partially closed.
A variety of auras were emitted from the scroll and entered into Denton Horton's body like a ceaseless flowing river.
As these auras blended into him, Denton Horton's power steadily strengthened.
Dudley Lynch stood aside, silently watching it all.
His heart began to give off a trace of greed, which stirred his ambition.
“So, you want to cultivate just like him…” A hoarse voice resounded in his mind.
Unlike before, this time his voice was considerably weaker.
Dudley responded coldly, “So, do you have a way?”
“No, that's the Immortal Slaying Sect's technique…” The hoarse voice echoed again.
Dudley Lynch sneered, “If you don't have a way, then shut your mouth!”
It was silent for a moment, then mournfully responded, “I never thought that I would lose to you. Choosing to reside in your body was really a bad decision…”
“Cherish your remaining time.” Dudley smirked.
At this moment, Denton Horton, who was cultivating within the room, opened his eyes.
A powerful aura burst out instantly!
Dudley Lynch's complexion shifted slightly, he quickly bowed, fearing he might have angered Denton Horton.
In the blink of an eye, Denton Horton had stepped out.
He stood in front of Dudley Lynch, coldly asking, “What are you doing here?”
Dudley hastily answered, “To answer master's question, out of respect and admiration towards your strength, I've been stealthily observing your cultivation practices…”
Denton raised his hand and placed it on Dudley's shoulder.
Instantly, immense pressure bore down, threatening to shatter Dudley's arm!
Dudley didn't dare resist and slowly knelt down.
He understood clearly that in front of Denton Horton, he could neither appear too weak nor too strong, else it may provoke suspicion.
Looking at the kneeling Dudley, Denton spoke indifferently, “What did you see?”
“To answer master,” Dudley hastily began, “I saw your method of cultivation, which I admire tremendously…”
Denton Horton said lightly, “You seem very curious. How about it, do you want to learn?”
Dudley quickly replied, “I wouldn't dare…”
“Hahaha!” Denton Horton burst out laughing.
“Even if you wanted to learn, you couldn't. This technique is known only to me.” Denton said lightly.
After leaving those words, Denton Horton turned and shot off into the distance.
Only after Denton Horton had gone, did Dudley slightly squint his eyes.
He was a man who would stop at nothing to achieve success, and like a starving wolf, anyone could suffer his betrayal.
In the blink of an eye, countless cities in the Southern Province had turned into ghost towns.
Many people started to migrate to places that were relatively safe.
The Southern Province was vast, with numerous unpopulated areas. The cultivators understood that the less crowded a place was, the safer it was.
In a short span of ten days, many cities were deserted. The few that remained were the old, weak and sickly.
Seeing this, Simon Ingram's expression turned icy.
“Relay my order, starting from today, no one is allowed to leave the city, anyone violating this will be executed!” Simon ordered coldly.
“Yes.” The black-robed man next to him immediately nodded.
Soon, they received another of the painting scrolls, with ten scrolls ready for the next absorption cycle.
Somewhere in the Southern Province.
Dudley Lynch and Eternal were walking side by side.
Having the same goal, they inevitably colluded with each other.
After interpreting the Sacred Heart Formula, both of their strengths had increased. Especially Eternal, he was just one step away from reaching the half-step Reversion Void Stage.
Although Dudley's realm was not as advanced as Eternal's, he had absorbed the primordial spirit within him, thus his current strength was definitely not inferior to Eternal's.
“We have to seize the opportunity to kill Ethan Smith first. His absence for such a long time surely doesn't bode well.” Eternal coldly stated.
Dudley Lynch released a sly smile, “Great minds think alike; it seems you have a profound understanding of Ethan Smith as well….”
Eternal snorted lightly, stating, “This one's physique is extremely special. No one knows his limit.”
Dudley Lynch squinted his eyes, revealing a grin, “As long as we can find him, I will personally execute him. Where do you think he may be?”
As they were talking, someone quickly approached them.
This man hastily came to their side and anxiously asked, “May I ask, are you the Godly Kings of the North Plain?”
Dudley raised an eyebrow, and then responded indifferently, “I am the Godly King of the North Plain, and what of it?”
The man said hurriedly, “I have an important piece of information to share with you. Can it be traded for my life?”
“That depends on what the information is.” Eternal scoffed.
In contrast, Dudley Lynch waved his hand and spoke with a faint smile, “As long as your information is useful, not only can it save your life, it can also save your family's lives. We might even allow you to join the North Plain.”
The man relieved, replied, “No need to join the North Plain, as long as we can avoid the disaster, that's enough.”
“No problem.” Dudley Lynch responded with a light smile.
The man glanced around then whispered, “I know where Ethan Smith is.”
Upon hearing his words, both their expressions shifted slightly.
“Are you telling the truth? Where is he?” Eternal asked, somewhat excited.
Even though Dudley Lynch appeared calm, he was similarly excited.
“Ethan Smith is currently in Divine Artifact City! I have relatives who are Refining Masters. They happened to deliver divine weapons a few days ago and unintentionally mentioned this!” The man said enthusiastically.
“Divine Artifact City?” Eternal furrowed his brows.
Squinting his eyes, he muttered in a low voice, “Could this boy be refining some kind of divine weapon?”
“Do you know about Divine Artifact City?” Dudley glanced at him.
“Of course.” Eternal responded coldly.
“Does this information suffice? Can it save my family's life?” The man asked, trying to feign laughter.
Dudley Lynch slightly squinted his eyes, and replied faintly, “Of course they can.”
“Thank you, Godly King! I…”
Before he could finish his statement, Dudley Lynch quickly attacked, his palm piercing through the man's chest!
Eternal, standing to the side, frowned slightly and asked, “Why did you kill him?”
“Does killing need a reason?” Dudley Lynch retorted with a smirk.
