The wind howled an ominous threat of impending bloodshed from some sort of duel of two men whose hearts beat for one single lady – a lady who did not even choose any of them.

The sight of Man Rui's naked body with signs of desecration all over, shuddering in the cold, and squirming as the lady gasped for air in the bathtub, appeared before him.

Zhu Li Qiang could only see red. Nose flared in utter disgust and hatred, he gradually met the devil, Shi Fan Hai as he alighted his car and headed towards him.

"Where. Is. She?!!" There was an apparent threat in his every word. "Speak!"

Zhu Li Qiang feigned scratching his nose as he sneered. "I don't know. You're supposed to know that, aren't you?"

At the calmness before the raging storm, Zhu Li Qiang's main bodyguard rushed in front of him from the shadows in a stance that was ready to either pounce or retreat. "Master."

"Don't interfere. We have a score to settle." He ordered quite serenely.

"Understood, Sir. But still, please do know that we've got your back."

"En." The young master Zhu absent-mindedly replied without tearing his fierce gaze from the young master Shi.

The air was taut. Tension built up. It was suffocating. Emotions far greater than misery or sorrow welled up inside Zhu Li Qiang.

Without any hesitation or doubt or any signs of fear, the devil surged forward and grabbed Zhu Li Qiang's collar.

Zhu Li Qiang's bodyguard reflexively reacted which the young master halted with an arm raised by his side, and a stop gesture with his hand. "You heard me. I don't know."

The devil's deep dark voice resonated in the air. His dry, eerie laughter reverberated forth through the silence of the night.

"Your joke isn't that funny." He tilted his head menacingly, as his eyes glared at his prey. He veered closer, deadlier. "Where the hell is Teng Man Rui?!!" Both hands now clasping the young master Zhu's collar.

Zhu Li Qiang who had been restraining himself all this time, could not hold on any longer. With his own strength, he pushed the devil away. He staggered, not expecting early retaliation from him, faltered, and then with a thud, he fell onto the ground.

"YOU!!!" The devil roared. His face flushed with overflowing wrath as his veins popped on the surface of his skin.

Before he could speak any more words of threat or curse, Zhu Li Qiang pushed him again, but this time he did not let go. Gaining advantage, he raised his arm, irking to give out a forceful blow.

Yet, he could not go on. With arm raised for a straight job punch, his reason made the better of him. 'What's the use of beating him into a pulp?'

"He.he. Young Master Zhu!" The devil even found the courage to taunt his assailant. "Afraid?"

Having been found an opportunity to strike, he landed a solid blow onto Zhu Li Qiang's face. "You're too slow."

"Do you think that you can possibly achieve anything if I didn't allow it?"

While he spouted nonsensical conversational monologue, he continually attacked the young master Zhu. The coin was flipped, as were their positions. Now, Zhu Li Qiang was pinned to the ground. But then, the image of Man Rui almost dead in front of him flashed in his head. Tears involuntarily escaped the side of his eyes and mixed with sweat and blood. His face was getting swollen all over, his eyelids included.

It seemed that reason completely left Zhu Li Qiang.

The bodyguard used his judgment and acted accordingly. He jumped by his master's side and held him away from the beaten-down frame of the Shi young master, fallen like a piece of leaf on the ground.

"Young master. If you continue you might get him killed." The bodyguard held him in place as he explained his actions.

"Let me go! Let me go! I really am going to kill this person!"

"How dare you!" Now, being held captive by the bodyguard, Zhu Li Qiang squirmed and kicked, in the hopes that his foot would hit the lying man.

"You don't have any right to live!"

"Go to hell where you belong!"

Shi Fan Hai recovered a little bit from the most welcomed pause. He spat blood on the ground, and retorted thereafter, "Ha! If I go to hell, I'll make sure Man Rui will stay by my side. Wherever I may be, I'll make sure to bring her with me."

"Leave her alone, you!"

Zhu Li Qiang continually kicked and kicked. A few good while passed, and the high energy between them seemed to mellow a bit.

Panting, Zhu Li Qiang improved his resolution. He no longer squirmed nor tried to attack his opponent. Sensing it, the bodyguard loosened his hold on the young master.

"Be a good sport and accept defeat." It was a piece of unsolicited advice from him. "Because…"

"Because… I have done it. I have thrown out the white towel. It's over between us. It's her decision and I respect it."

"Why can't you do the same?" His voice sounded strange. He felt like choking from the lump that was forming in his throat. His eyes flickered with torment.

"I honestly don't know where she is right now, and I guess that's for the better."

Shi Fan Hai sat up, wiped the blood trickling down the side of his lips, and gave out a lopsided smile. "Give up? I have given up everything for Man Rui. I will give up everything for her, but not her."

"Not her."

He supported himself by propping the ball of his hand on the ground as he slouched backward.

"If you give up, then I win." With the back of his other hand, he wiped the remnants of blood on his mouth, stood up, and grinned wickedly at him. "I win. She'll come back to me. We have a child."

Shi Fan Hai revved the engine of his sports car and fled into the night.
