Lucifer's Descendant System Chapter 70

And in the blink of an eye, two weeks had passed. Noah had unlocked the system for three weeks in total, and looking at his own statistics after waking up, he couldn't help but be satisfied with himself.

Noah had been very disappointed in the most recent Fortress he went to with the invasion group a few days prior. He thought that with that Fortress he could reach level 03, but who knew that the Fortress would have so few monsters? No new quests had appeared for Noah. He was very keen for some to show up soon so that he could have truly useful wings, since from what he tested, the wings he now had really did not even serve to glide and slow him down if he jumped from somewhere high.

But now at least he was sure he would level up in the next Fortress he invaded; even more so after the meeting the group had.

After Noah joined the party, the group's overall efficiency increased dramatically, as the monsters didn't last long. So, after a vote, the group decided that they would try to invade a Rank D Fortress. They knew that this would be much more dangerous than they were used to. None of them had invaded a Rank D Fortress previously since their strength came mainly in the union and synergy that they had, which meant that the overall strength of the group instead of being equal to 15 Blessed, due to their synergy, they functioned more like 20 normal Blessed when together.

If they weren't together, their strength would stand out slightly from normal people, but when they came together, their strength would become much more expressive than before. So they all decided that the Fortress they were going to invade next would be Rank D. Since everyone in the group was Rank E, they had the right to do so if they wanted to.

Noah was not at all against this decision, as he knew that when he leveled up his skills would need an even greater amount of Exp to level up again.

The strength of his skills had improved a lot. The [Hell Flame] ability was now much more lethal to Rank E monsters, even the Fortress Bosses suffered greatly when they were hit by that flame that had burned and purified countless of their kind. A pity was that Noah realized that the more he purified the monsters of a certain classification, that type of monster yielded him less exp as if that quality of fuel was becoming less and less sufficient to cause an evolution in the skill.

Getting out of bed, Noah went to the bathroom right after unrolling Lilith from his wrist and he took a shower.

The little snake also had major changes these past days. In addition to the affinity with Noah going up a lot in the time that the two spent interacting, even though she spent much of her time sleeping around his wrist, they could now be considered each others' friends.

Because they were always side by side, their companionship developed naturally. Even more so when one considered they had a very high natural affinity initially.

The wounds that had previously taken over much of Lilith's body were almost completely healed, with only a few scars yet to close before she assumed the beautiful shape of a completely black snake.

She had also gotten a lot of exp for being with Noah when he broke into the Fortresses. Even though the amount of exp she received was much less than Noah received, because she only took the residual exp for herself, she was still just over half the exp target to reach Level 02. Not to mention that she was already anxious to finish healing completely to unlock the ability she had, but she also didn't know what it could be.

When Noah got out of the shower, he saw that Lilith was still sleeping peacefully in bed with her little snake body wrapped around the blankets and found that scene cute. Next to the bed was Terrence, yes that was the name Noah gave to the bird that hatched from the egg. Noah was terrible at choosing names; that was something Lilith always said to him every time he thought of a name to give the bird, until she gave up and just let him do what he wanted after so many bad options he thought up.

Now that Noah was doing well with Rank E Fortresses, he had no problem buying food for home. His uncle had strangely not returned to collect the part of the debt that Noah owed, and since Noah was concerned that his uncle was keeping tabs on him, Noah transferred the money that he would have to pay all week so that there would be no problems. Whenever he saw the money from a Rank E Fortress leaving like that, he felt a squeeze in his heart, but thinking about Maggy, he knew it was worth what he was doing.

With the extra money he had in hand now, Noah bought a lot of food for himself and a lot of meat for Lilith and Terrence, although Lilith apparently didn't really like to eat human food. She said something about how bad the cooking was and just being curled up in it was more than enough to satisfy her.

But what Lilith didn't eat, Terrence ate for her, since this little boy had grown from a curious little bird to a bird the size of a Husky dog in just two weeks. Noah remembered that the Boss was big, but he still didn't know what to do with Terrence, since Noah didn't have a contract to sign with the poor bird.

Luckily, Terrence never gave Noah much trouble, just eating a lot and sleeping a lot all day. His feathers grew in place of hair and he had a beautiful, blood-red fluff. Seeing the size that Terrence was reaching, Noah even thought about the possibility of using this big bird as a mount in the future, without having to use his own wings which would draw an extreme amount of attention, Noah could climb on Terrence's back and make Terrance take him to places.

The bird was not aggressive to Noah, but when other humans got closer to where he was, Noah noticed that he was slightly more agitated than normal. It was probably that his monster instincts were causing him to get angry and want to kill the humans, which further underscored the urgency Noah felt in making a contract with Terrence, but he didn't want to use a pet store contract now that he knew he would have an ability in the future to sign contracts only limited by his imagination. Noah had certainly preferred to use a contract he wrote so as not to come across having signed a contract with absurd and malicious intentions. He just hoped that this ability to write contracts would come soon, since Noah knew how useful and powerful that skill would be to him.

Today Noah had no Fortresses to invade, since yesterday the group had invaded a Fortress with relative ease and obtained extra and easy money. They agreed that even if they were not tired, they would all rest and have fun, since they invaded Fortresses to live and did not live to invade Fortresses.

Like many in the group, Noah also had an appointment today. Carlos had asked him to play Valorwatch, something that Noah particularly had a lot of fun playing and was happy to help his friend. Carlos' request was for them to play a league together, and as they hadn't played anything together yet, because Noah had become slightly addicted to rising in the rankings in the game, today Carlos scheduled them to go to a restaurant to meet each other and meet the other teammates they'd be playing with.

Noah was proud of what he achieved this week, since even though he was still officially a Blessed Rank E, using his own skills in the game, Noah had moved up from Rank F to Rank D without much difficulty. When he reached Rank D, he began to face opponents who truly posed a challenge for him; nothing like PigMan, but they were still powerful players.

Looking at the time, Noah saw that it was just over an hour before they were scheduled to meet, so Noah ate something quickly after getting dressed when he got out of the shower and he, along with Lilith, who had wrapped herself around his wrist, went towards the meeting of the future team that they would compete in the championship with together.

Noah just hoped that nothing too problematic would happen, and that the rest of the team would be made up of good people, as he trusted Carlos' personality judgment.

Noah felt that it was easy for himself to judge people's personality, and just as he didn't like many people right away, even without knowing how stupid they were, Carlos also had that same ability. The two got along very well since they had met, probably because, as he said, since they both felt that the other was a good person and a good companion to have by their side.

"I hope Carlos was able to choose good people this time..." Noah said quietly to himself as he waited for the bus.
