"What did the cells find?"

Jason asked as he drank the beer and looked at Derry.

"Ah about that, wait a minute I will get the drive"

Derry walked into his room and brought a small black drive with him and plugged it into the TV which hung on the wall.

He switched on the TV and clicked on the drive folder.

"I started to activate the cells slowly and they soon doubled in numbers, soon they covered the whole district but they found nothing but a dead end in our district, they found some dead bodies which looked very weird but they were in such bad shape that it was unable to identify at all. Soon I started to activate cells in other districts as well and soon they realized that there is a certain pattern in there weird deaths of people."

"A pattern?"

"Yes, these dead bodies were found in districts which are north of it before it happened in their district, this way the cells were able to confirm that our murderer is moving from north to south. The sudden disappearance of people in Freyton city was very weird but no one bothered to look into it, but recently all the disappeared bodies were found."

"The bodies which were missing were found?"

"Yes, but each and everybody had already started to rot and they showed sign of cannibalism, they had human flesh inside their stomach, teeth, and their nails. What's weirder is that their DNA in their body were completely altered, the people who found these bodies had no chance to identify these bodies if they didn't have their ID's in their wallet. Their whole bone structure was completely changed, they all had slightly thick bones and very sharp canines."

"Did they find out how they all died?"

"That is the weirdest part of this whole thing, their organs had actually stopped functioning the day they died but their brain and heart were still working as it still had few cells alive on them, this information was very hard to get as the government of Freyton blocked it completely, but the sleeper cells somehow managed to infiltrate the system"

"Some cells on their heart and brain were still functioning?"

"Yes, they were actually cannibalizing on the dead cells around them, slowly eating away the dead muscles as well, the Freyton government actually preserved these cells to do some research on them and"

"What is the government trying to achieve?"

"These cells showed signs of regeneration by feeding on other things, a cell that didn't die unless they didn't get any nutrition. Scientist believes this will help humankind break through the shackle of death caused by diseases"

"Hmm"

Jason nodded and thought about the current situation.

"What else?"

He asked and looked at Derry

"I think you should see this for yourself"

Saying so Derry played the footage stored on the drive.

Jason looked at the screen as it played CCTV footage of a roadside corner, he saw a drunken woman walking as she wobbled around, suddenly a dark figure launched out of the camera frame and bit the woman on the neck and pinned her down, the woman tried to struggle but it only lasted for a few seconds, Next this figure dragged the woman's body out of the camera frame and disappeared.

"Did you see that Brother Jason, that was definitely a human who attacked that woman and he went straight to her neck, to be exactly where her blood vessels are situated. It's just like you said, blood-sucking creatures. Vampires are actually real, holy shit"

Derry was very excited as he discovered something that was just thought to be fiction and folklore but who would have thought that these things were real.

Jason looked at him and shook his head.

"Is this only in Freyton?"

Jason asked.

"No, not only Freyton but also the cities north of Freyton, like El Monte, Hardtren, Turney, Hawarden and many more. These creatures are definitely coming from the north and following this pattern down south"

"So Freyton is not their base"

"No, if Freyton was their base we would have got some news about it but these things appeared only a few months ago but still they were very silent and many don't know about their existence except few government executives. The government even finished of people of lower rank who knew about these creatures so that it won't get leaked into public"

"The world is not what we think it is, it's way darker than it actually seams, Derry be careful and don't go around fucking strangers from now on"

"Ok, Ok, by the way, brother how did you find out about these things"

"I encountered one of them and killed it, but then I encountered the one who made them and killed it as well but I got turned into something else"

"Huh? What are you talking about?"

Derry was completely confused about what Jason said.

Jason decide to tell Derry because he was the only person in this whole world he thought as a family, he could trust Derry with his life, Derry would give away his life instead of betraying Jason.

"Get me a knife"

"Huh?"

"Just get it"

"Ok"

Derry passed the fruit knife on the table to Jason, Jason took the knife and cut his wrist in front of him.

Derry was shocked by seeing what Jason did, but what he saw next was even more astonishing, he saw the blood which came out of Jason's body turned into gas and went back inside the wound and the skin covered itself. The deep wound which was just a second ago was present there completely disappeared.

"Holy Shit"

Derry said as he looked at Jason.

Jason then took the knife and cleanly snapped it into two pieces.

Seeing this Derry suddenly covered his next and stepped back.

"What are you doing?"

Jason asked as he looked at Derry stepping back.

"Aren't you going to drink my blood?"

Hearing this Jason was dumbfounded.

"Are you an idiot, I don't drink blood"

"But aren't you one of those Vampires now?"

"That's what I thought before, I did become like this due to a vampire but after some interrogation, I know I am not a vampire"

"That what are you?"

"That is what I am trying to find out as well so I need your help"

Even though it is not a great idea to tell Derry about his powers he did it because first he trust Derry and he knows Derry would never betray him, second, he needs Derry to do his work as he cannot handle it alone. He needed Derry for his plan to set the trap.

"Don't worry Brother Jason I will help you, just tell me and it will be done"

"Good but first you need to understand the situation"
