Chapter 1739: Chapter 1729: Set Up in the Bar
“I warn you, if your hand comes one centimeter closer to me, I'll ruin it!” Skye Lawrence took a sip of her drink, catching sight of the man's approaching hand, and issued a cold, icy warning.
Who was she?
The First Young Lady of the Lawrence Family, an elite businesswoman.
The unique oppressive aura inherent to the Lawrence Family radiated from her, and not everyone could handle it.
The man who had intended to take advantage of her suddenly halted his hand, realizing he had been intimidated by a woman. After cursing internally, he forced a laugh and said, “Beautiful woman, you really know how to joke…”
“You can try and see if I'm joking with you again!” Skye replied calmly and confidently.
The smile on the man's face froze, unable to maintain it.
“Get lost!”
Her mood was already bad enough; she didn't want to see anything else irritating!
The two men abruptly stood up, pointing at her nose and cursing, “Who do you think you are? I just saw you drinking alone and felt sorry for you, wanted to comfort you. If you don't want it, forget it! Hah, judging by your appearance, you've been dumped by a man. With your personality, you deserve it!”
Skye didn't even bother to give them a glance, continuing to drink her own wine.
Her disregard was the best way to slap them in the face.
The two men felt as if their dignity had been trampled under her feet. As people around glanced over, their faces turned from green to white to purple. Awkwardly, they threw out a line, “Just you wait!”
Then they sheepishly took their drinks and returned to their seats.
Skye didn't pay any attention to them, drinking one glass after another until her eyes were hazy.
She leaned on the bar, surrounded by deafening music and flashing neon lights that made her dizzy.
She took out her phone, pulling up that familiar number and staring at it in silence.
The things she had said in the office today were truly what she thought. She knew that she and Baron were impossible, as long as she was still Skye Lawrence. Even if they weren't blood-related, for the sake of the Lawrence Family's honor, she could never be with Baron, let alone marry him.
The Old Master thought she wanted to replace Enna Clark, but that wasn't the case.
She was purely considering Baron's well-being. Enna was incompatible with him! Aside from the reason she mentioned in the office, there was another one—Baron would lose control because of her!
Anything involving Enna, and Baron couldn't remain rational.
As the heir of a top-tier conglomerate, how could she let him have such a weakness?
Enna would only be a stumbling block, preventing him from becoming a perfect man and reaching the pinnacle of life. She did all this just to clear his path in life, with fewer obstacles.
Without Enna, he'd still be that calm and rational younger brother she had known since childhood, who never made mistakes!
Thinking of Nicholas Lawrence's disappointed gaze and his helpless tone when he told her to leave, Skye felt her heart ache intensely.
She tilted her head back, downing the wine in her glass, and then placed the empty glass on the bar, pushing it toward the bartender, “Pour me some Red Wine.”
“Alright.” The bartender quickly opened a wine bottle, poured her a glass of Red Wine, and, when she wasn't looking, tossed a pill into the glass. The pill quickly dissolved in the wine.
This all happened without a trace, and Skye didn't notice that when the bartender received the glass she pushed over, he lifted his head and discreetly glanced at the two men sitting behind her, making a hidden “OK” gesture.
