Chapter 6: Boar's leg stew

NiuXu tumbled onto the stack of hay after staggering back to the hut whilst carrying an enormous foreleg of a boar.

NiuXu felt that his head was in a mess, the current primordial age that he was in was completely different from the one in those historical records. Just take this boar for example, there were no records of any boar with leg as thick as half an elephant's leg. Basically, this is not Earth but instead, another planet.

Thinking that he had to face these gargantuan beasts and using those crude stone weapons, NiuXu felt suffocated and pressurised as he was extremely weak. Moreover, wearing a decent pair of clothes from now on is just an extravagant hope.

Although there were several unfavourable situations in the world of year 2118, but compared to the situation that NiuXu was now in, it was like heaven. Once again, NiuXu subconsciously grabbed towards the jade pendant on his chest, this was the culprit that send him to this desolate place and at the same time, blocked the lightning strike for him.

The style of the jade pendant was very common, other than a few large ancient words that were carved into it, there were nothing else. The jade pendant was shaped like a square with the thickness of a finger. The materials used were all cheap miscellaneous, however, the only thing special about it was that it was passed down from his ancestors, holding some historical value.

Within those 2 days in captive, NiuXu could not find out anything peculiar about the exceedingly common jade pendant, despite observing it countless times.

However, as NiuXu once again touched the the jade pendant, he felt that it was different. He discovered that within this piece of jade, it was filled with an indescribable energy; his gut feeling told him that he could return back to his original world.

Without a tinge of hesitation, NiuXu gripped tightly onto the jade pendant and transmitted his will to return home into the jade pendant. The next moment, the youth stood there, stupefied. Out of out of nowhere, a tunnel glowed with dark rays of light appeared 1 metre in front of NiuXu.

The entrance of the tunnel was about the same size as a bedroom door. Ever since the tunnel appeared, NiuXu felt that the energy in the pendant was decreasing gradually, based on his estimation, the energy will be completely depleted in 3 minutes time.

God knows if the tunnel would still exist after the energy was depleted,NiuXu immediately got up and ran towards the dark tunnel so as to return to his original world. As he was about to enter the tunnel, NiuXu smoothly reached out and grabbed hold onto the boar's leg.

After plunging into the tunnel, NiuXu felt that that the vibrant colour of the light started to brighten up, causing his vision to blur.

It was 1 minute later did he then recover his vision. Laying on the wet concrete floor, NiuXu realised that it was raining and everything seemed so familiar.

Turning back, he saw that the tunnel that transported him back was gradually shrinking and in a few seconds, it completely vanished.

"Beep beep…". NiuXu glanced down at his watch and noticed that the once empty internet signal bar was now filled. After its auto adjustment, his watch indicated: 2118/6/3 , 23:55.

His heart skipped a beat. NiuXu clearly remembered that it was 3rd of June, 20:50 when he was struck by lightning; Only 3 hours have passed.

If not for the eye-catching boar's leg, which constantly emitted a bloody smell, that landed not far away, NiuXu would have suspected that the trip to another dimension was just a hallucination after the lightning strike.

After gathering himself up, NiuXu carried the boar's leg on his shoulder and ran towards the block of houses up ahead. While running, NiuXu was thankful that the thunderstorm was getting heavier and heavier, causing cars and pedestrians on the road to be basically extinct. In this case, his battered body would not attract attention and invite unnecessary trouble.

20 minutes later, the drenched NiuXu finally reached his block. In the empty lift, NiuXu pressed the button for the 136th floor.

After several minutes, NiuXu used his watch to open the door to his room, entering the 20 plus square metre apartment.  In his only home in this entire world, NiuXu instantly relaxed…

This apartment was the only inheritance that his grandfather left for NiuXu, and it was due to this apartment that prevented NiuXu from being admitted to the government welfare institution as he was not of age yet.

As compared to other houses, which had smart furnitures, NiuXu's house was abnormally simple, other than a hardboard bed, the rest of the electric furnitures were outdated.

After repeatedly changing the water in the bathtub several times and soaking himself in the cold water for 30 minutes, NiuXu felt that his body was finally free of any filth. It was at this moment did NiuXu have the mood to think about his late diner.

Just by looking at the gigantic piece of boar's leg, NiuXu's saliva started to inundate his mouth. He could not remember when was the last time he got to eat a proper meal consisting of meat.

Although the city base seemed to substantial in size, after sustaining a sizeable populace, building of factories and the land needed to train the army, there were not much space left. Moreover, since it was unsafe outside the city, all sorts of plants and animals have to be placed inside the city.

Fortunately, due to the rapid development of the farming technology, it was enough to fulfill everyone's daily needs just by building a few factories. However, the stuffs that were affordable to NiuXu were just some extremely cheap synthetic food.

Those toothpaste-like food had no problem filling one's stomach, but it was lacking in terms of taste and cultivation effects…

If this chunk of boar's leg was to be sold in the black market, NiuXu believed that it would be able to be sold at an astronomical price. However, NiuXu decided to enjoy it himself so as to comfort his repeatedly frightened soul.

The bone of the boar's leg was so hard that it required almost all of NiuXu's strength to cut off 3 small chunks. It was so hard that it even left a gap in the alloy cleaver. Just this 3 small chunks alone weighed about 5kg.

After throwing in the 3 chunks of boar's meat into the pressure cooker, NiuXu stuffed the rest of the boar's leg into the refrigerator and next, he patiently waited for his meal to be cooked.

Several minutes later, a rich aroma started to diffuse all around the room. This caused NiuXu, who could not remember when was the last time he ate a meat, to salivate onto the floor.

After enduring it for a while more, NiuXu estimated that it was now fully cooked and turned off the power supply to the pressure cooker. After opening the lid, an even richer meat aroma started to invade his nose. After adding in a bit of salt at a fast pace and stirring it for a while, NiuXu impatiently started to dig in.

Its tenderness and other meat-indulging satisfaction caused NiuXu to unwittingly finished the entire stew of boar's meat; Leaving nothing but an empty bowl behind.
