Legend of the Perfect Emperor Chapter 5: Recruiting Duties

Upon joining the Sacred Heaven's Temple and becoming a follower of himself, Tian Yi followed Caiyi as she gave him a tour around the cathedral, still going on about how he had chosen the correct path in life.

"Umm… Sister Caiyi, what exactly do we do as followers of the Sacred Heaven's Temple?" Although he was a bit late to ask this question, Tian Yi still asked her.

"We pray every day in the morning, afternoon, and night," said Caiyi. "We also spread His Highness's glory whenever we get the chance."

"Pray? Where do we pray?" he asked, regretting it a second later.

"At the statue, of course. Only high-standing followers are allowed to pray in the cathedral near the painting."

"Uhh…"

Doesn't that mean he would have to kowtow in front of a statue of himself? Tian Yi was in a dilemma. One side tells him he doesn't want to leave this following because of the people, and the other side tells him he doesn't want to kowtow a statue of himself three times a day, every day. It was just too awkward, even for him.

"Umm... Sister Caiyi, do you need help with recruiting people? I happen to be very good at it…" Not wishing to go either route, he has decided to recruit people to follow him while being in a disguise! If this wasn't the apex of shamelessness, then nothing in this world could be considered being too shameless!

"Oh? Now you're talking like you want to climb the ranks! I knew I was right about you, Shuyi! Come, let us go recruit some people right now!" Caiyi began pulling the dumbfounded Tian Yi outside and started recruiting people.

"Now, Shuyi, I want you to recruit at least 3 people before the sun descends. If you can manage this feat, I'll take you in as my first Disciple!"

"I-I will try my best…" he said in a nervous tone. To be thrown into such a weird situation all of a sudden had caused the son of the Celestial Emperor to be stricken with nervousness!

After that, Tian Yi randomly picked a pedestrian to walk up to while Caiyi watched in the background.

"Umm… Excuse me, sir." Tian Yi politely stopped a middle-aged man as his first target, and Caiyi facepalmed at his actions.

'What are you doing, going for the males? His Highness's charm works most effectively on females, not males!' she criticized his actions inwardly.

Stopping his tracks, the middle-aged man looked at the ordinary-looking young man that stopped him. "Yes?" he said.

"U-Uh… Do you know Tian— His Highness, Tian Yi?" Tian Yi asked him.

"His Highness? Of course, I do." The middle-aged man said, finding Tian Yi's question a bit odd.

Who under the Nine Heavens did not know of His Highness, Tian Yi? Even a fool who has lived in a cave for one hundred years without leaving knew of his name!

"That's great!" Tian Yi suddenly became enthusiastic. "Then are you willing to join the Sacred Heaven's Temple? Our goal is to spread happiness while connecting with fellow followers!"

"Eh?" The middle-aged man's expression instantly changed upon hearing the name 'Sacred Heaven's Temple'.

Caiyi facepalmed in the background, again.

"Do I look like one of those dogs who wants to join because there is a lot of beautiful maidens in that place?! Connecting with each other, my ass! How dare you mock me!" The middle-aged man began shouting with anger, attracting nearby gazes.

"Huh?" Tian Yi was baffled by the middle-aged man's sudden anger. When and how did he mock him, exactly?

"I think there might be a misunderstanding— "

"Misunderstanding— my fart! Everybody knows the reputation that place receives! It's a place where a bunch of horny, shameless and mislead bitches gather to worship an existence that will forever be unreachable by them!" The middle-aged man shouted some baffling words before turning around to walk away angrily, dumbfounding Tian Yi who barely understood a word he just said.

Turning to look at Caiyi who was acting like she did not see what had just happened, he walked to her, his expression showing puzzlement.

"Sister Caiyi, what did that sir mean by 'horny bitches'? I feel like he just bad-mouthed us," said Tian Yi who has never heard of those words in his life.

"AHEM. Ahem… ahem…"Caiyi had to clear her throat a few times before she could start speaking. "D-Don't mind it too much, he was just complimenting us; it happens often."

"I see! So he was complimenting us when he called us horny bitches? But why did he seem so angry?" he asked another question that nearly made Caiyi choke on her own saliva.

Caiyi wanted to cry because of his innocence. However, while she was shameless, she wasn't someone who'd dirty such a pure young man, creating more filth in this already filthy world.

"H-He was angry because he knew that he didn't meet the requirements to join the Sacred Heaven's Temple…" Caiyi said, her eyes intentionally ignoring Tian Yi's gaze. "Anyway, stop saying those words out loud; it's embarrassing."

"I see… recruiting people is harder than I'd initially thought it to be. Okay! I'll try again!" he said with enthusiasm, feeling excited that he gets to talk to random strangers, one of the many dreams he had.

"W-Wait!" Caiyi stopped him before he could run off like a little kid getting candy.

"We already have enough males in the Sacred Heaven's Temple; go recruit some females, they are the priority," she said.

"Really? Okay." He nodded without thinking much about it.

Caiyi wiped the sweat from her forehead after he had left. 'That bastard! How dare he bad-mouth my Sacred Heaven's Temple and the followers?! What bitches?! Most of us are still pure, dammit! Just because you are jealous of His Highness! Hmph!' she cursed inwardly.

While it was true that nearly every female out there loved Tian Yi, the same could not be said for the males. Because of Tian Yi who had unknowingly stolen the heart of many beautiful maidens without even trying, countless males out there were left crying in the corner wondering why the girl they fancied joined some weird cult, ignoring their love and courting.

And the more beautiful, the higher-standing the girl was, the more likely it was for them to try and chase after Tian Yi because those who are of higher status usually marry those with the same if not higher status.

Many people were jealous, even angry, but alas, what can they do when their opponent was the son of the Celestial Emperor, who was perfect in every aspect possible?

"Haaaa…. Males will always be males…" Caiyi sighed, her attention now focused on Tian Yi who was currently approaching a little girl wearing ragged clothes that looked as if she just start cultivating, usually at the age of 10, nearly causing her cough up a mouthful of blood.
