The Fire Emperor has been sending letters to Xing for a couple of years asking for the hand in marriage of her daughter for his son and she's been constantly refusing. She is not going to send her daughter that far away. But this time he has come directly and he even had the nerve to bring his son along.

Immediately after the Fire Emperor spoke, Long JunTing knelt with his forehead touching the floor and bowed to Xing.

"Get up boy," Xing said without flinching and her family was flabbergasted. She looked at the nannies of her grandchildren and they picked them up and left the dining hall.

Chenglei knew this is not going to go smoothly and sat in his host seat silently sipping tea.

"I'm your mother's brother and she saved JunTing a long time ago and we owe her, " the Fire Emperor explained to Xing's children talking among themselves and they all looked at their mother for answer.

"Sister by heart" The Fire Emperor corrected realising how she is trying to turn it.

"We are not related by blood but our hearts are that of a lovely brother and sister, don't you agree, dear little sister?" he smiled while glancing at Xing's children, subtly urging Xing to behave in front of her children.

"But I won't let little Zai marry my daughter either. His father is my brother by heart too." Xing gritted her teeth and glared at Chenglei.

Why did he invite him here? He is trying to steal our daughter!

As everyone was preoccupied, no one noticed the tinge of disappointment in Little Zhu's face, except Chenglei.

'So this is how it is?' his heart clenched and he took a deep breath.

"If I may, Imperial father...," Long JunTing interjected politely among the commotion, his voice shook out of fear for his father but still his eyes were determinant.

"I cannot marry the one you chose for me. I met a girl and fell in love at first sight" his voice was clear and decisive and his eyes looked straight at his father, like a person who is willing to face anything that comes at him. Xing liked his courage to stand up for himself. Yunxi raised him right.

"How dare you! You made an oath!" the Fire Emperor got furious and pulled out a whip he had in his belt, to hit his son.

Xing was pleased by this sudden development and probed the boy further stopping his angered father from whipping him. The dining hall was filled with chaos and no one knew what was happening and Chenglei who is used to Xing's behaviour silently sipped tea. The tea wasn't that tasty since his wife didn't brew it but still... He needed something to do. He definitely will not interfere his wife. She is a mother tiger trying to protect her cub and anyone by her side will be torn up. Even him. He can only wait for help to arrive. There is only one person who could handle her for now since she is angry at him for bringing in the Fire Emperor.

Long JunTing was not keen on telling Xing everything and wanted to accept his father's punishment but Xing was petting his hair and that annoyed him. Xing asked a maid to help her back to her courtyard and she bowed to everyone and looked at JunTing with no expression in her face. She definitely didn't have any feeling for him and Xing was too pleased.

But she saw JunTing pointing her finger at Little Zhu and he was shocked. He only noticed her just now.

"She... She is the one I met," he said making Xing's heart skip a beat and she stood up and the Fire Emperor who was scowling till then turned to look at his son.

"No..." Xing smiled awkwardly, "She is not" Xing gritted her teeth.

JunTing saw his father struggling to keep up with the lady carrying sword. As much as he was happy he get to find a love, he was more confused now by what he was seeing. His father is having his ass kicked by his mother-in-law.

But he cannot let her kill his father. That would be inconvenient for his plans to marry the one he met.

JunTing tried to join the fight but his father ordered him not to move and he was more surprised and so was Xing's sons and daughter-in-laws.

"Just like her father!" Chenglei mumbled inaudible. Her father threw this same tantrum when he asked for her hand too.

"Mummy, let's talk abut this later. Go have some rest" Baobei coaxed Xing and tried to get her out of the dining hall and just then Little Yu made her entry.

With her dark blue robes dirtied with the red sand and her hair dishevelled, she looked like how Xing looked at her age. Her green eyes were lively and dark hair cut to her waist was tied in a ponytail. Akira, the white tiger was by her side.

"W-why is he here?" the first person she noticed was JunTing and he had a pleased smile in his face and Xing noticed her daughter's face go red.

But soon Little Yu composed herself, "Mother, he tried to hurt Akira and so I responded in kind. I shot his hand that tried to shoot Akira" her tone was jovial and there was a trace of sadness in there too and Xing picked it up.

"I though that tiger was going to hurt you. Who walks around with a full grown tiger by the side?" JunTing asked.

"You saw a girl walk around with a tiger and she hurt you but you fell in love with her?" Xing asked mockingly while Chenglei almost choked on his tea.

Why can't he? People don't usually play with tigers! It is attractive to some!

"Is his hand treated?" Little Yu asked worriedly.

"You want to marry him?" Xing was blunt and she saw her daughter go red to her ears and neck. She looked awfully pretty and with that blush she was adorable. This is the first time Xing saw her daughter this way.

She fell in love too?

"W-what? Why? How?" Xing really couldn't fathom how this could have happened. She attacked him and fell in love with him? How?

Poor Xing who was too involved to not let her daughter leave her, forgot her own love story.

"No way! I refuse this union!" Xing shook her head and didn't change her mind even when everyone pleaded and even after her sons' advice.

"You don't know him enough to get married" Xing bellowed and left the dining hall in long strides.

Chenglei was calm throughout. He knew his wife is throwing a tantrum and in the end she'll decide well for her children and there is no need to panic.

"Wrong way, Xing" he ran behind her after telling Lian Lian to arrange for their guests' stay.

"My way is the right way!" she screamed back and ended up running in the wrong way and Chenglei chased behind her.

"Come on! Don't make this old man run for long. My heart might give up" he said amidst pants and she stopped and walked towards him. He is already fifty four.

"Oh, don't exaggerate" she hooked her arm around his, "You are fine"

"Want to take a bath?" he asked and she nodded and both entered their courtyard.
