Knight in Another World (Complete) Chapter 74: Sherry's vacation

Sherry gazed into the clear blue water with a blank look on her face. Her bare feet were dipped into the cool water, swishing about. Sherry looked up and found her dad holding two cocktails in his hands, shirt unbuttoned and exposing his pale chest. Ping had shaved his beard, looking noticeably younger and didn't seem a day over 30. Even when he was just walking, he looked incomparably handsome but the love in his eyes made it all the more attractive.

Ping made his way over to An, who had been leisurely sun bathing on the sun chairs. She wore an elegant one piece bathing suit, white and simple. An's dark hair was tied into a single ponytail, her bare skin smooth and fair, healthy and the colour of milk. She wore a pair of black sunglasses, exuding an aura of confidence and looking like a rich heiress.

"Hey, beautiful." Ping offered An a drink and spoke to her as if it was the first time he had seen her.

An smiled coyly. "Hey, handsome." She said, receiving the cocktail.

Ping chuckled and sipped on his drink. "May I?"

An glanced over at the empty chair beside her. "Go ahead."

From the opposite end of the pool, Sherry rolled her eyes at the sight. That was her parents favourite game, pretending to not be married. They would hit on each other over and over again, not getting tired of their sickeningly sweet interactions no matter how many times they repeated it. It was a sight for sore eyes.

Sherry sighed to herself in boredom. She should've dragged her friends with her or something. It wasn't fun acting as a chaperone for your lovely dovely parents for many consecutive days.

In her boredom, Sherry stared off into the distant, looking like an immortal beauty. She wore a bikini top and shorts, looking sexy yet ethereally beautiful when she just sat there. It was like she was above mortals and disdained the secular world.

"Hey." Sherry lifted her head and saw a man in his twenties or maybe younger, likely a schoolie wanting to mess around after his final exams. His head was dyed a grassy green and face red with blush. "My friends dared me into talking to you." He explained.

Sherry glanced over at the group of boys sitting around the glass table. They had mischievous grins on their faces, the smile of a matchmaker. Sherry adopted that smile onto her face. Her dimples added to the beautiful glow of warmth. "Did they dare you into asking for my number?"

The boy blushed with a deep red. He verily shyly nodded, just shining with youthful radiance. "Can I get your number, miss?"

"Jerold, say the pickup line! It's part of the dare!" His friend shouted.

Sherry's smile deepened. Should the kids had been there, they would have recognised that very smile. After all, they see it every week, on the face of that dreaded alternate persona of Dylan, the demon instructor. "Hoh, what pickup line? I love cheesy pickup lines the most." She said with a light laugh.

"Ahem." Jerold cleared his voice. "Girl, are you Eric, coz I think I'll lose my voice for you."

"Ahahaha, what was that? It's so bad." Sherry laughed. "Is this a little mermaid reference?"

Jerold hung his head low and bashful nodded his head. "I wanted to say you were Ariel, but I didn't know how to word it."

"Hmm, how about…" Sherry took her feet out the water and stood up from the edge of the pool. She strode over to the boy, they were almost the same height, and adopted a playful and handsome expression she'd copied from Dylan. Sherry propped Jerold's chin up and looked into his eyes. With a devilish smirk, she took inspiration from Dylan and spoke. "[Insert cheesy yet hot line. I'll think of it later]"

Jerold's jaw droped and his eyes widened with shock. His face flushed with a deep red at the transformation from delicate young lady to charming young man. His 18 year old heart couldn't handle it and his brain refused to compute. He could only stand there dumbly, frozen and utterly enchanted.

Sherry smiled and let out a laugh. She returned to her usual self, stupidly adorable and dorky. "Ahaha, I tried to pretend to be my friend, but it didn't work at all. That guy is just a natural player. I pale in comparison."

She was obviously talking about Dylan. That guy emitted pheromones like no tomorrow and attracted people to him like bees to flowers. He was unrestrained in his kindness, gentlemanly and stuck to his creed. Even when he was just behaving like a normal human being, when paired with that handsome face and sexy body, it seemed like he was flirting and was thus, extremely attractive. Dylan would also sometimes behave in archaic ways, following a knight's code of conduct and enacting in chivalry. This type of behaviour was unusual and also looked deliberately flirtatious. To make matters worse, he always seemed unaware of his antics, stealing hearts like he was breathing.

While Sherry was musing to herself, the poor boy was left dazed by her transformation. He felt his heart skip a beat at the unexpected burst of charisma that Sherry displayed. Though that transformation wore off, he was still influenced by it and couldn't help but to see Sherry through coloured lenses. It was as if he was in a shoujo manga, beautiful roses surrounded Sherry like a frame and magnified her beauty and handsomeness.

Jerold's audience of friends were also caught in the line of fire. They found themselves unwittingly charmed by this mysterious girl, her ever changing expressions interesting and attractive. But of course, they weren't directly affected so they quickly snapped out of it.

The friend that shouted out earlier whistled. "Ask for her number!" He commanded.

At his orders, Jerold snapped out of it and shyly looked at Sherry, not daring to meet her gaze. "C-can I get your number…please?"

Sherry laughed and rubbed his head. "Sorry, you're not my type."

The boy was, though displeased by her treating him like a younger kid, not discouraged. He persisted and continued to ask. "Then, what is your type?"

"Well, tall and kind and strong, gentle and stupidly honest." As Sherry continued to list various ideal traits, an image formed in her head. A man taller than her, with a gentle and warm smile, kind and reliable. It was Dylan. He was her ideal type. A faint blush surfaced on Sherry's face at the realisation.

"Is, is that the friend you were talking about earlier?" Jerold asked, seeming to have noticed something. Her expression when speaking about him earlier was significantly softer and when she described her ideal, it was obvious that she was talking about someone.

The blushed intensified and Sherry dropped her mature façade. "N-no, what makes you think that."

"…I wish you two happiness." The boy said before walking back to his group of friends, saddened about the sudden end to his summer crush.

Sherry stood there and touched her cheeks, they were both red and hot. "Was it that obvious?" She asked herself.

Author: I've recently discovered that this is called a mini theatre. How is it a theatre? It's just my delusions manifested into words on pape-, er, the screen, so why is it a mini theatre?

Dylan: I don't know?

Author: My thoughts and mood dictate your actions and fate, so without an answer of my own, you too will not have an answer.

Dylan: …This is getting weird, Author.

Author: So, if my every word controls what you do, does it not mean that I am the god of this world?

Dylan: Uh, yeah. You're the author.

Author, nodding: Indeed. And thus, I command you to burn my English Exam before the teacher reads it. It was a god damn abomination. Damn it, how can one write so much gibberish in three hours? It was vomit, literal vomit on a page. I pity my English teacher. Or perhaps not, because she was the one who forced me into this situation? But it's just her job, so I can't blame her for that, though I do think she's scary. But she's good at her job too, I'm just a bad student.

Dylan: Author! Stop! Ranting! In! The! Story! No! One! Cares!

Author: Shut up Dylan! Use your magic and go burn it now! I never want to see it again!!!
