The second characters of the two names sound very similar in Chinese. shi1 and si1 respectively. Those who don't know Chinese (or another language which differentiates meaningfully between the two sounds) may not even be able to hear the difference.小花: This part really doesn't translate well into English if I stick with the original. The direct translation here would be 'Little Flower' as taken from the full name of the Doomsday Flower, but 'Little Flower' sounds closer to 'Little Four' than 'Little World' does. So, I decided to take some creative liberties here and tweak it a little to make the baby virus' name 'Little Blossom'. FYI, 'Little Flower' in Chinese is pronounced 'xiao hua'.那种祸祸害遗千年的货: Hahahahaha, this was rather fun to translate. Super challenging, but fun. Not sure how well I did with it overall ... if anyone has a different version, I'd be interested to hear about it. Let me try to give you all a more literal version -- 'the type of thing which causes harm lasting a thousand years'. Perhaps easier to understand, but it's missing the inherent poetic charm of the original, hence my final version.生龙活虎: Sorry for the somewhat old-fashioned saying here, but it somehow fits. The literal original is 'live dragon live tiger' -- basically, full of life and in high spirits.
