I'm just an 'Ordinary' Human (Marvel fanfic) Chapter 45: Volume 3 Chapter 21.2

(3rd-person POV)

Finn watched with interest as Karla flew towards the nearest flying colossal. As she got closer, she realized she was not alone. Stark was also tailing closely. He used a red laser in his arm to intercept the massive beast, although it did little to no damage at all.

[Sir, we will lose power before we penetrate that shell.] An A.I., named JARVIS, warned Stark.

"JARVIS, you ever hear the tale of Jonah?" Just as when Stark was planning to go inside the beast's mouth, a little girl blocked him. "Huh?"

Not minding Stark, Karla went ahead of the beast and stopped dozens of meters away from it. She mimicked a gun with her hand and aimed her index finger at the beast. What happened next was obvious. A concentrated red photon laser penetrated the flying colossal's head, eliciting a howl of pain from it.

However, just that was not enough. Karla charged at it with her fists enveloped in red photon light. She continuously punched it, with every strike producing a photon blast. Eventually, the flying colossal crumbled under her onslaught. It crashed to the ground and destroyed the cars parked on the street.

"Uhh. Nobody told me a power puff girl is also here." Stark pointed his palm at Karla. It started charging. "What's your name, little girl? Where's the Professor?"

"Can you put that down? I am not supposed to kill a human, you see. He said I can only target the aliens. The bigger, the better." Karla replied with an innocent look on her face. It sounds honest, but when it came from a 9-year old girl who can bring down a massive beast single-handedly, it gives one an unexplainable feeling.

"Who's 'he'?" Stark asked.

Hearing him, Karla replied with a smile. She then flew off to intercept the flying Chitauri crafts in the distance. At the moment, she cannot spot any flying colossal. So she was left dealing with these 'small fries' for now.

"Does anybody know this girl? Blonde hair, red photon lasers, about 10 years old. Anyone?" Stark communicated to his teammates' earpiece. He was surprised to see a girl who's almost as powerful as Thor.

Overlooking their interaction, Finn was quite satisfied. He expected Karla to attack whoever she sees, so this outcome is definitely a surprise. Just now, she shows that she can follow orders and prioritize it over her desires. Although, her lust for battle is still quite problematic if not given a solution from time to time.

Finn used [Clairvoyance] to see what was happening on Morgana's side. He nodded and deemed it passable as he saw Lynn using dark elemental spells to obliterate the Chitauri while Morgana guarded her against others. He then decided that it's time to wrap things up and close the portal.

When he flew up and reached the top of Stark's tower, he saw a red-haired woman and an old man beside the machine that's making the portal open.

"Well, I didn't expect you here." Finn said as he glanced at Natasha.

"So it's because of you Lynn learned some magic, huh."

"You can say that." Finn shrugged. He walked towards the machine and the Tesseract. He tried to touch it but a powerful force field stopped him.

"It's impenetrable." Doctor Selvig said as he stood up with the help of Natasha. "Only the—"

"Not to me, no." Finn interrupted him and readied a barrier-dispelling magic spell as he took a stance.

"We tried everything. Everything doesn't work."

Finn ignored Natasha and Doctor Selvig as he continued to focus on his spell. A little while later, the machine's force field was covered in magic circles. The magic circles linked with each other, and it looked like they're sucking the force field's energy. Until, the force field around the Tesseract completely vanished.

"See? It worked just fine." Finn wiped his nonexistent sweat on his forehead.

"We can close it. Can anybody copy? We can shut the portal down!" Natasha shouted at the intercom.

[Do it!] From the other side, Steve's voice can be heard.

[No, wait.] However, Stark interrupted him.

[Stark, these things are still coming!]

[I got a nuke coming in, it's gonna blow up in less than a minute.] Stark's voice sounded crafty. [And I know just where to put it.]

Finn overheard their conversation so for the moment, he stopped trying to destroy the machine. He didn't notice that Natasha is trying to contact someone. What he did notice though, was the golden scepter lying around the corner. He stealthily put it inside his Storage magic even though it's meters away from him; no one even noticed a thing. He then watched as Stark redirected the nuke and guided it towards the portal.

From the other side, he saw a blinding explosion. The nuke hit the Chitauri's mothership; along with it, the Chitauri on Earth suddenly stopped moving. It looks like as their mothership dies, they die as well.

Finn and Natasha waited. But there are still no signs of Stark.

[Close it.] Steve's voice came over the earpiece. The blast would reach even New York if the portal's not closed.

"Alright." Finn then used his hands and grabbed the Tesseract. He pulled it out of the machine, and the portal slowly closed. However, just before the portal completely close, Stark came out of it. It looks like he luckily survived.

Finn stored the Tesseract using his Storage magic.

"You're not getting away with that." Natasha said as she glanced at Finn. She still can't believe that the Tesseract just vanished right in front of her, but honestly, she has seen a lot today. She won't even be surprised if this man turns out to be more powerful than Thor.

[Nat, we're coming over in a second. We had a, uhh, little help.] As Steve's voice resounded, several figures suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

"Wow, the gang is here."

The people who appeared were Steve, Thor, Stark, Hulk, and Barton with the addition of Lynn and Morgana. Karla also flew towards them just in time. The Avengers and Finn's party stared at each other for a while before Natasha spoke out.

"Guys, Loki's a sitting duck. We can talk this out later over the Shawarma."

"Sounds good to me." Stark immediately nodded, he then turned to Finn. "How about Mister Mysterious over here?"

"No problem." Finn looked at Karla and Lynn, he noticed they looked exhausted and in need of replenishment so he was not against the notion of eating outside. He looked at Morgana and saw the confirmation in her eyes. They don't need any words, just the stare was enough.

"Alright then, time to deal with your brother." Steve said as he patted Thor's back. The Avengers walked inside, while Finn's party waited outside.

"Did you guys have fun?" Finn asked.

"Yep! A lot!" Karla nodded while showing a full smile. However, the next words that came out of her mouth gave a sweat to Finn. "I hope it was longer though..."

Lynn, on the other hand, flashed Finn a complicated look before finally forcing a smile. Finn sighed after seeing her expression.

"I won't force you to kill anyone again next time. But remember this..." Caressing her head, Finn continued. "Saving someone might sometimes require you to kill another. There's no such thing as a compromise if your very life and death are at stake."

Lynn nodded at Finn. "I will."

"Good girl." Turning around, Finn hid his smile from the girls.
