Chapter 1380: Chapter 1382: Mausoleum Chapter 1380: Chapter 1382: Mausoleum Golden Blood was but a legend, distinct from the Golden Giant Dragon within the Dragon Clan. For thousands of years in the current game world, no member of the Golden Clan had appeared, yet in the histories of various races, there were legends of the Golden Clan. Unlike the royal family within the Dragon Clan, the Golden Clan, as legend has it, was a race created from Divine Blood bestowed by the gods. They were all god-blooded descendants mentioned in tales, few in number, with extraordinary abilities.
However, many people didn't believe in such legends, until, several hundred years ago, someone in the Assessment World obtained Golden Blood. After drinking it, that person truly became a member of the Golden Clan, and thus the legend began to flourish.
“Golden Blood, we are actually seeking Golden Blood in a tomb, heavens, this is even more precious than the rewards for a golden side quest, and we've encountered it!”
“Divine Blood, the stuff of legend, and we have stumbled upon it, unbelievable!”
The remaining thirteen Alien Clan Examinees, originally exhausted, suddenly felt as if they were infused with surging vitality, reborn, and became elated, some even shouting excitedly.
“Alright, calm down!” Xilin suddenly shouted, “Do you really think that a powerful treasure like Golden Blood would be laid out before us for the taking? Don't be so naive!”
Xilin's words were like a bucket of cold water, immediately calming everyone down.
“Indeed, the more precious the treasure, the greater the difficulty in obtaining it. There might even be powerful monsters guarding the Golden Blood. We must be extra cautious now, or we'll end up like Moxi and the others, reaching this place only to be kicked out of the assessment, which would be a huge loss!” Another Alien Clan Examinee nodded and spoke.
Seeing his companions calm down, Xilin also smiled. From the moment he realized that the content of the golden side quest had changed, he knew it wasn't a task he could complete alone, and that he would need the help of his companions.
Whether or not they were still needed after getting the treasure, however, was another matter.
Those who shared Xilin's thought were surely not few, for Golden Blood's value was also due to its extreme rarity; each time it appeared, there was at most one drop, enough for only one person to become a member of the Golden Clan, definitely not enough to divide among thirteen people.
“The Golden Blood must be inside that building ahead. Let's go in and see!”
“Right, this group of the Ghost Clan has been guarding this place, refusing to flee even in death. There must be something good inside!”
This group of Alien Clan Examinees slowly approached the center of the ruins, and upon closer inspection, they realized that half of the structure before them was buried in the ground, much like a tomb.
“It really is a tomb. Such architectural style is only worthy of the big shots from legends after they die!” An Alien Clan member, with owl bloodline and a somewhat spaced-out expression, stepped forward, carefully examining the patterns and designs on the wall, nodding after a long observation.
“There's, there's a tombstone here, let, let me see what it says…” The individual with the owl bloodline focused on a stone tablet, reading intently, “…This records the life and achievements of the tomb's owner; it should be the tomb of a king named Smorahan, who was buried here after his death…”
However, once he found out who the owner of the tomb was, he stopped translating the text completely and instead furrowed his brows, looking very troubled.
“Su La Mo, why have you stopped talking? What does it say up there? Keep going!” a member of the Alien Clan urged impatiently.
“The script on this appears to be the Cheyef hieroglyphs from thirteen thousand years ago. I have only come across it in some historical documents. This content is too profound for me; I can only understand the first few lines…” The Alien Clan's Su La Mo, who possessed the bloodline of an owl, frowned deeply, expressing his difficulty.
Although Su La Mo's combat power was average, he was the most knowledgeable in the group. If even he could not recognize the text on the stone tablet, it was even less likely for the others.
“It doesn't matter. As long as we open the tomb, enter it, and then find the Divine Blood, that's enough. As for who lies inside, we don't need to care!” Xilin stated indifferently.
The others nodded and started to dig with all their might. In a short while, a three-meter-wide, inclined passage had been excavated. At the end of the slope was the entrance to the entire tomb, which was now completely sealed by a huge boulder.
Seeing this, no one found it strange. All tombs would have similar Seal Dragon Stones to thoroughly seal the entrance to the tomb, preventing others from entering and disturbing the deceased's rest.
For ordinary people, even with machinery, it would take several days to clear such a huge stone. But for a group of strong individuals with Second-tier Peak Combat Power, this stone could not possibly stop them.
One of the towering figures from the Alien Clan stepped out from the crowd, wielding a heavy hammer. With a low growl, a solid surge of energy pulsed through his body. He lifted the battle hammer, almost as tall as he was, and smashed it viciously against the Seal Dragon Stone.
Boom, boom, boom~
The dull impact sounds rang out. In a short while, the ten-plus-ton Seal Dragon Stone was smashed open, revealing a large hole. After the messy rubble was cleared away, a burst of chilly air blew out from the opening, and everyone heard a sound resembling a cry or a howl by their ears.
Everyone waited for over an hour, allowing the dust to settle and fresh air to enter the tomb before they started to step over the large hole and into the interior of the tomb.
Behind the Seal Dragon Stone was a world that had been enshrouded in dust for over ten thousand years; it was pitch black inside. Standing at the broken hole, one could only see a broad flight of stone stairs, extending from the entrance down into the darkness below.
“I'll go down first; you guys follow behind!” Xilin took out a torch from his bosom and gently waved it twice in the air. The top of the torch immediately burst into intense flames.
Xilin, holding the torch, led the way into the tomb. The others also used various methods to bring out their lighting implements or cast spells, following closely behind Xilin.
Seeing that everyone had entered the tomb, Su La Mo's face revealed a strange smile. He turned his head to look at the stone tablet in front of the tomb again. When he turned his head back, his face resumed its previously slightly vacant expression.
“This tomb holds much more than just Divine Blood. It's very dangerous to casually enter a king's burial site…” Su La Mo thought to himself. After everyone else had entered, he slowly followed at the rear.
