Chapter 1378: Chapter 1380: Golden Giant Dragon Chapter 1378: Chapter 1380: Golden Giant Dragon Right after those strange azure eyes appeared, Kamata let out a pained whimper as her massive body crashed to the ground. The blazing golden flames that had been burning on the surface of her body began to slowly extinguish as if they were retracting back into her.
Even though she seemed to have fallen into a coma, the few remaining beasts didn't dare approach Kamata. They let out a deep, mournful cry and, without daring to look at Kamata again, they all fled outside the cave.
The meteorite shards had disappeared; there was nothing left to attract them. Escaping was what mattered most.
Song Jian watched the beasts flee, his face showing a look of hesitation. These beasts were all at the peak of the Commanding tier, immensely formidable to any ordinary person. Killing them could increase the assessment rating. Any examinee would try by all means to kill them upon encountering them.
However, with Kamata's life and death uncertain, Song Jian was very worried. Moreover, all the beasts that Kamata had killed were credited to him, including the two from the Legendary Realm. If he were to open the system information panel now, he would see a cascade of notifications like a waterfall, all of which were about the killing of beasts and the enhancement of the pass rating.
So many beasts had boosted his pass rating by two levels, equivalent to advancing two tiers in pass rating since he had entered the Assessment World. If Kamata hadn't swallowed the meteorite shards and completed the main mission as well, Song Jian's Combat Power Assessment rating this time would be at least S-level or even higher.
Song Jian slowly walked toward the Giant Dragon Kamata, who was emitting a faint golden glow all over her body. Now, Kamata looked like a small hill lying at the edge of the underground lake, with golden light continuously flowing over her body. From afar, her entire body resembled an exquisite piece of art.
Just then, Kamata's body underwent a transformation. Her tremendous body shone with golden light so dazzling that Song Jian couldn't help but shield his eyes with his hand. In a short while, the giant dragon's huge body disappeared, replaced by a woman dressed in luxurious attire, lying on the shore.
Song Jian sighed and stepped forward to carefully observe Kamata, who had now transformed into a human form. Kamata's eyes were tightly closed, her body occasionally twitching slightly, a look of pain on her face as if she were trapped in a nightmare from which she couldn't wake.
The pale blue crystal, looking like an eyeball, was embedded on Kamata's forehead, shining brightly. Song Jian knew that this was due to the energy within the meteorite shards being too overwhelming. Although Kamata was a Giant Dragon, her body could not fully withstand such a colossal amount of energy. After swallowing the meteorite shards, her body had absorbed some of the energy, resulting in a mutation that evolved her from an ordinary Black Dragon into the legendary Golden Giant Dragon. The energy from the meteorite shards that couldn't be absorbed then reconvened to form the strange azure crystal on her forehead.
What Song Jian didn't know was that the Mutated Serum that the Black Dragon Kamata had previously ingested had purified the impurities in her bloodline, unleashing her body's potential and laying the foundation for her evolution into a Golden Giant Dragon. Otherwise, with the chaotic, mutating radiation of the meteorite shards, such a smooth evolution to a Golden Giant Dragon would have been impossible.
It was as if the Mutated Serum established the direction for Kamata's advancement, while the meteorite shards sped up the process. During this accelerated advancement, the energy from the meteorite shards was consumed and integrated by Kamata, while the leftover energy that wasn't consumed merged with Kamata's bloodline. If other beasts rashly swallowed meteorite shards like Kamata did, they would only be blown apart by the shards' immense energy. This was why the three Legendary Realm beasts had only dared to absorb the radiation emitted within the range of the meteorite shards instead of choosing to swallow them.
Song Jian sighed, understanding that an advancement mutation like Kamata's was a matter of chance and could not be sought after. In the growth history of the Dragon Clan, the Golden Giant Dragon Clan had only appeared as rulers in the tens of thousands of years when the Dragon Clan first emerged. After ten thousand years, the Golden Giant Dragon had become a legend within the Dragon Clan; no one had witnessed the existence of a Golden Giant Dragon anymore.
But in the legends of the Dragon Clan, it is said that inside every pure-blooded Giant Dragon, there lies the bloodline of the Golden Giant Dragon. In other words, any Giant Dragon has the potential to evolve into a Golden Giant Dragon, becoming the monarch of the Dragon Clan.
However, similar legends exist within the historical tales of various races, and many dismiss them as mere folklore. Even among the Dragon Clan, such stories are taken as myth; many Giant Dragons do not take it seriously.
Song Jian sighed and tried to collect Kamata into his Pet Space. To his surprise, he succeeded. It seemed that Kamata had left that special evolutionary space and returned to normal.
Watching Kamata sleep soundly in the Pet Space, Song Jian was somewhat speechless. Ever since Kamata had undergone the bloodline ritual and become a dominating-level powerhouse, she appeared to be mostly sleeping. She seldom assisted in battle, yet, mysteriously, her strength kept increasing.
Although Kamata had not yet reached the Legendary Realm, after evolving into a Golden Giant Dragon, her actual combat power had surpassed that of most Dragon Clan priests. She had overwhelming power against early King Level bosses of the Legendary Realm and could even fight those in the mid-stage of the Legendary Realm.
“As long as she breaks through to the Legendary Realm, she'll immediately be a match for the legendary bosses at the peak of that realm. Then it will be time to visit Scorching Gorge and meet the Flame King beneath the volcano, in the sea of magma!” Song Jian thought to himself.
Song Jian walked around the lake, collecting some scattered loot into his inventory. He also picked up the inner core dropped by the Plesiosaur beast, which was from a Legendary Realm boss. Aside from improving his clearance rating, the core could be absorbed by examinees. However, to Song Jian, such inner cores seemed too inferior compared to the effects of Mutated Serums.
“Maybe I'll let the mutated Thunder Eagle Beast Patsha try absorbing it. He's already absorbed one beast core. If he takes in another, his strength might increase even further!” Song Jian mused internally.
Even though Patsha belonged to the Alien Clan, now as Song Jian's pet, he naturally aligned with the force of the Human Race. His increase in strength indirectly boosted Song Jian's power. Moreover, Patsha had always been obedient to Song Jian's commands without any mischief, so he deserved some rewards.
As Song Jian was about to leave the underground lake, Doya and another Human Race examinee, Noya, entered. They witnessed the carnage of beast corpses and the chaotic energy lingering in the air, clearly indicating that a great battle had taken place here.
“Song, Song Jian, did you kill all these beasts?” Doya asked, staring at the dozens of mangled beast corpses, dumbfounded.
