Chapter 1370: Chapter 1372: Meteorite Fragments Chapter 1370: Chapter 1372: Meteorite Fragments Crack~
A cracking sound arose as a woman dressed in a black bodysuit emerged from the blood cocoon. This left Song Jian, who had some expectations, feeling quite disappointed.
Glancing at the woman's features, Song Jian found her somewhat familiar. Staring intently at her face, he eventually realized that she seemed to be Kamata, grown up to the age of eighteen or nineteen. Although she had become more beautiful, the traces of her thirteen- or fourteen-year-old self were still visible between her brows and eyes.
“Kamata?” Song Jian tried calling out.
Kamata, having crawled out of the blood cocoon, seemed very excited, constantly examining her own body and arms. Hearing Song Jian calling her, she rolled her eyes at him, showing an attitude of disinterest. However, it wasn't long before Kamata seemed to remember something and quickly flashed a sweet smile at Song Jian, saying, “How do you think I look now?”
Now, Kamata possessed a tall stature, her clothing a set of tight-fitting garments similar to a bikini swimsuit. It wrapped around her chest on top and reached her thighs below, showcasing her excellent figure without a doubt.
Although still somewhat immature, such a stunning beauty with an exceptional figure and appearance was rare even on television or in movies in the real world that Song Jian had seen.
After sizing her up for a while, Song Jian felt his throat go dry and hurriedly nodded, saying, “Very nice…”
“Then, can you give me another syringe of the serum you had earlier?” Black Dragon Kamata approached Song Jian, wrapping her arms around his and pressing close. Song Jian immediately tensed up, momentarily at a loss.
In a daze, Song Jian was about to agree to Kamata, but then it struck him that she could potentially die immediately from genetic collapse if she took another dose of the potion, and he suddenly snapped back to reality.
“Kamata, this serum,” Song Jian said with a serious face, “a person can only drink one syringe. Drinking more could lead to genetic collapse and death!”
“I am of the Dragon Clan, with physical qualities dozens, or even hundreds of times greater than ordinary humans!” Kamata retorted, unconvinced: “Ordinary people can only drink one, I can drink a hundred!”
“Before genetics, everyone is equal!” Song Jian shook his head and said, “This kind of genetic optimization does not care whether you're an ordinary human or a Giant Dragon. It's very dangerous, Kamata, it's not that I'm unwilling to give it, but you really can't drink it. I don't want to lose a combat partner like you!”
A glint of light flashed in Kamata's eyes, but she quickly showed a look of dissatisfaction, throwing off Song Jian's arm with a cold huff: “What's the big deal? If I can't drink it, then I won't!”
After saying that, Kamata started to look around, frowning upon seeing the walls of the room splattered with stinking blood.
“What is this place, it's disgusting!”
“The flora and fauna here have mutated to become more powerful due to a fragment of a meteorite,” Song Jian briefly explained the main quest to Kamata, “My task is to find this meteorite fragment…” Now that Kamata had awakened and seemed to have greatly increased her strength, he naturally wanted to use her power to complete the main quest.
“I can feel it over there, a strange fluctuation that might be the radiation you mentioned. It's very faint, as if it's enveloped by something. The vibrations it gives off make me feel very comfortable…” Kamata pointed ahead as she spoke.
Song Jian's eyes lit up. Could Kamata actually sense the radiation fluctuations from the meteorite fragment? This would be tremendously helpful in finding the fragment, almost like having a human-shaped radar detector.
“Kamata, lead me to the source of the radiation fluctuations. That must be where the meteorite fragment is!” Song Jian said with a look of joy.
Kamata closed her eyes as if sensing something. After a short while, she opened her eyes and said to Song Jian: “We are currently thirty meters underground in a cramped space. I can't make use of my Giant Dragon state here, and my combat power is only half of what it is in my Giant Dragon state. I sense that there are many powerful creatures at the source of that radiation. If a battle occurs, you will have to rely on yourself!”
Song Jian paused and then nodded, his expression turning serious. The radiation from meteorite fragments wasn't something all creatures could endure. Weak creatures exposed to the radiation for long periods might grow stronger at first, but as time passed and their potential was exhausted, the radiation would then alter their genetics, causing those whose potential was depleted to suffer genetic collapse and die.
Only those creatures already powerful beyond compare could withstand the radiation from meteorite fragments over long periods, and the longer they were exposed, the more powerful they would become.
The creatures that Kamata had sensed were likely the latter, and it was possible that King Level, that is, Legendary Realm mutants, had emerged!
Kamata moved ahead, with Song Jian closely following behind her. After walking about eight or nine hundred meters, the space in front of them suddenly opened up.
They could see that the surroundings were no longer a man-made underground base, but a vast underground cave. The ceiling was at least sixty or seventy meters above the ground, and Song Jian could even hear the sound of an underground river flowing in the distance.
“We're close, just up ahead!” Kamata pointed ahead and said.
Looking forward, there was a simple fence gate, surrounded by a makeshift wall of reinforced steel. However, at this point, both the fence gate and the steel walls were twisted and distorted, damaged beyond recognition, as if they had been repeatedly charged and trampled by a herd of beasts.
Roar, roar~
Mwah, mwah, mwah~
…
From a distance, the faint sound of wild beasts roaring could be heard, with numbers totaling at least ten or more. If all these beasts were Bosses with King Level Combat Power, then Song Jian would have to return empty-handed.
“This is only a third-tier Combat Power assessment world, yet the task is to steal from the hands of a dozen or more King Level Bosses. The difficulty of this task is a bit too much!” Song Jian thought to himself.
If that were true, it was likely that no one would be able to complete it unless the two factions of Examinees in the Assessment World joined forces. Only then would there be a slim chance.
After all, the mainline task was to obtain the items, not to fight and kill a dozen Legendary Realm King Level Bosses!
The two of them crossed the damaged fence and continued forward, soon arriving at an underground lake.
The lake wasn't very large, appearing to be only about ten acres in size. The silhouettes of some enormous creatures were faintly visible, with most of their bodies submerged in the lake, only revealing a small portion above the water surface. But even this small portion was enough to send shivers down one's spine.
In the center of the lake was a small island, which was actually just a huge rock. Only a few square meters were above the water's surface. On this rock, a fist-sized crystal floated silently about a foot above the stone, emitting light that pulsated continuously, flickering like stars in the night sky.
“The task item, meteorite fragment?” Song Jian stared at the crystal in the distance, and even without checking its properties, he was certain it was the meteorite fragment from the mainline task.
“It's so beautiful, Song Jian, I want that thing!” Kamata's eyes reflected the blue light of the meteorite fragment as she pointed at it and whispered excitedly.
